I have to admit that I did try one in a Music store and I was very impressed. The sound, look, and feel are so good. The neck is rounder and a bit heftier than the original but is still very comfortable to play. It will kick butt in most styles and is a keeper. I own a 1970 Starfire and it is still a monster guitar, but as I mentioned above, the originals have a smaller U neck and full size humbuckers. The lacquer finish is now age cracked a bit but the guitar is in very good condition. I am a big Fan of the higher end Guild electrics and acoustics. Play one and you will be a Fan too.

I've been playing since 1985. Have had way too many guitars since that time...
This is as good as any other guitar I've ever owned...
Plays Just awesome. great neck, love the mini bucker's. Very well built. I would definitely buy it again if lost or stolen. great for all the styles I play (Country,Rock,Classic Rock, Southern Rock) Just a really nice guitar...
You won't be disappointed!

This guitar sounds superior to a Gibson 335.

Guild has always made fine guitars, and my new Guild Starfire IV keeps that tradition of excellence going. Great tonal versatility, easy playability and beautiful craftsmanship in one magnificent semi-hollowbody. I must also say dealing with AMS is a dream. They are the most professional, courteous and helpful purveyors of musical instruments on the planet!

Product Review
I’ve always wanted a Guild Starfire IV ever since the late 60’s. I finally pulled the trigger on a Newark St. and I can say that this is everything I had hoped for. This has 60’s jangle rock and fuzz written all over it! The quality and build is remarkable, and even though it’s made in Korea, I would put it up against any American made guitar for quality, build, and performance. This is my favorite go to guitar and I would definitely buy again. I also have a Starfire II bass which is top notch also!

Needed to be set up.
Pickups were so high they were hitting the strings. After some adjustments, it played well.
The humbuckers sounded good.
Going to try it out at next gig.
