Product Review
The Ibanez AS 153 is one great guitar. First off the flame maple top, back and sides on mine as insane. So much flame it's amazing. The gold hardware is beautiful as is the fit and finish. Physically this guitar is flawless but what about the sound? I found the sound so rich and pure it far surpasses my Gibson Custom Shop ES 345. I know that sounds like bull but really it's true. The Ibanez has a bell like tone on the neck Pu but dial back the tone and it's as sweet a honey. The bridge PU really grinds when over driven and has wonderful harmonics and sustain. Honestly with my Blackstar HT20 the 153 howls like a banshee in all the right ways.
The splitter switch gives some single coil tones but nothing to get excited about.
The neck has a beautiful round feel to it and the weight of this instrument is 7.8 pounds. Lite enough to wear for hours without a back brace.
This is a great guitar that will give you playing enjoyment for years. Get one and make your friends envious.

I’ve been a fan on the Ibanez Artstar series for years, and this guitar has not disappointed. Great neck feel, far better than my other electric guitars. The tone and multiple colors you can achieve with the added switch really help this guitar stand out. The case is strong and flight-worthy too!

This is a beautiful high quality guitar for the money. It is excellent for all styles of music that is typically played on a semi-hollow body guitar. The pickups are excellent with a warm fat tone. The workmanship on the guitar I received is flawless and the case appears to be similar to a flight case with heavy duty latches. Based on this purchase I would not hesitate to buy another Ibanez guitar. Thanks AMS for the great packaging and quick shipment!

This is an amazing guitar. I have played a friend's Gibson es 335 and this gem feels and sounds very equal. The action was a little high and I had a luthier set up the neck. You can get many great sounds out of it. Blues, Jazz and Rock N Roll.

I have purchased four guitars from AMS and a Nextone Artist Amp.I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy a high end Ibanez (I am an Ibanez fan).I made a few changes to fit my playing style and all I can say is that this guitar gives me every sound that I have always looked for in all the guitars I have ever owned. Not to mention that materials, fit and finish that beats G for a third of the price. BUY IT!!!

The Ibanez AS153 has great build quality. I'm sure they blow away the competition with what they offer for the money. The sound of the 58 pickups is really sweet, I like them just as much as the Seymour Duncan 59's. Have only positive things to say about this great looking guitar!

Sure I wanted an ES335. But I sure can't afford it. So I looked around and decided I would try the AS153. I can always return it, right? And a large part of me had pre-decided that would probably happen. Well I bought it 2 weeks ago and I love it. Setup is on the money. Sound is awesome. Finish (blue) is beautiful. Action is great even with 10-52's. Will probably change to 9's. I am really impressed.

I own: Gibson Les Paul Traditional, Fender Elite Telecaster, Fender Select Strat, Gretsch G5422TG and several other guitars. This Jewel Blue Burst is the finest, best sounding guitar of the lot. I'm really impressed with it.
I bought it using AMS's 12-month with zero interest...what a great deal!
It can be a bit worrisome to buy online, but I feel completely comfortable dealing with American Musical Supply. In the past, I had one guitar from them that was not good quality...they took it back no questions asked, at their expense.
What more can one ask than that a company stand behind their product, good or bad?!?
I made a one-minute demo of this Ibanez AS153 that you may view here:

This instrument just feels "quality" to me.... and it's stunningly beautiful and sounds amazing. The action was perfectly to my tastes (low) right out of the box with no buzzing or intonation problems. If you're thinking about a $3000 Gibson... do yourself a favor and at least check this out first.

This Guitar is in every way as good as Gibson's ES.I still can't believe the price! I always wanted an ES but didn't want to pay the Gibson prices and wasn't that impressed with the Epiphone quality. If this sounds familiar this maybe your answer.
The quality is great period, it works great for Jazz,Blues,Rock and even today's modern country. Of course it doesn't have that Tele twang but it will cover clean chording and rippin rock style leads that genre now uses.
Feels great. smooth action, didn't have to adjust anything Ibanez really got this Guitar right! controls are as they should be.
Tone is beautiful. You can get everything from bright to dark. Nice full body sounding humbuckers.
Stain is beautiful! looks like a finish you would expect on a more expensive Guitar.
I got a lot more than I was expecting for the price. it doesn't period! its the best semi-hollow body for the price hands down.
perfect. I usually have to make minor adjustments but not with this Guitar.

Your general opinion of this product.
The Ibanez AS153 was worth the wait, and has the potential to be excellent low cost alternative to some of the other more expensive semi hollow bodies on the market today. Overall, I am very happy with the guitar, after an initial setup by a local guitar luthier.
In today's competitive marketplace, I expect quality. This is where Ibanez may want to be a bit more attentive as they release their new guitars to the world.
I'll start with the issues that I faced upon first playing the guitar:
1. Dead fret when bending the 1st string a whole note at the 12th fret
2. Truss rod cover screw only screwed in a quarter of the way
3. Both strap buttons were loose and needed to be tightened
The pros are as follows:
1. Very playable
2. Great sound and sustain
3. Wood work and finish is gorgeous
After a few days visit with the local guitar luthier, I am very satisfied now with how the guitar plays and feels.
This guitar has a very flexible tone pallet when playing it with or without amplification
The action was fine
Wood work and finish of the AS153 is beautiful
Too early to tell
