I wanted a shred guitar,I have many other types of guitars. But I just wanted something with a flat, hi speed neck and lightweight body, and killer looks. Well, I found just that. It's the amazing Ibanez RGA42FM. When I first pulled it out of the bag and held it,it was Christmas for a old dude. The thing is a beast. It's everything I wanted and more. It's even setup well,I will lower the action a touch. You can feel the quality in this thing. The reddish burst is stunning in it's satin finish. I tuned it and shredded the heck out of it. Thank you AMS, for shipping her so fast, you guys are always my go to when I need something. Thanks again. Jim

First time I saw these in the store I had to have one and AMS made that possible and I am so thankful. These guitars are so nice to play. Ibanez outdid themselves and the priceline makes them worth every penny! The hardtail stays in tune forever and the warmth and sound along with the feel and traditionally amazing necks make these a highly recommended guitar!

I purchased this guitar and added Fishman fluence pickups monster tone and unbelievable sound! The original pickups are great, I changed for the look and a different sound for me playing drop D and C, I use 11-52 gauge and thick massive sound for the best buck! Grab one for yourself!

This is a fantastic guitar. Plays like a dream,looks and feels great and sounds like a BEAST...I've played dozens of guitars throughout the years and this guitar plays better than 99.9% of all of them. It's super light and very easy on your back. Look around all you want, but when your ready to buy a guitar, THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT.For the money, there is nothing out there that out plays this Ibanez. You'll never regret buying one.

I bought mine used with upgrades on the pickups and tuners so I can’t say what the stock ones are like. This is one of the most comfortable guitars I’ve ever played. It’s light weight and the neck is amazing. I love the finish and flat look doesn’t show fingerprints or scratch very easy. This would be a wonderful stage guitar guitar r if you just want to play a guitar at home that doesn’t weigh a lot.

Right out of the box this guitar blew my mind. Not only does it look amazing, it was set up and ready to play after tuning of course. There was no setup needed. After plugging it in I didn’t want to play another guitar. Bottom line looks and plays beautiful.

I was looking for a great guitar to play heavy metal music, and i could not be more happy with this guitar! It is very comfortable to play, and very well built. I am a beginner, and the sound that this puts out definitely helps motivate me to keep practicing. I definitely recommend this guitar for metal shredders! Haha! ??????

Not only is this guitar beautiful, it's sound is amazing as well! The guitar arrived well packed, Thanks AMS. Not much finesse needed with this axe just a simple adjustment to the action and off I went, fret work was surprisingly awesome. Pickups are very good, but I will probably throw a set of Seymour Duncan black Winters in it down the road, just because I love the Duncan sound. As always AMS delivery is fast and service is awesome! Don't hesitate in buying this guitar, is plays and sounds like it's worth much more.

Just received my guitar today which 1. The shipping, super quick and sooner than I expected to points for that, plus the packaging was good, protected enough that it survived the shipping journey from Fedex. 2. The setup, not sure if its AMS or Ibanez but the guitar already came setup, neck is good, intonation is good, no fret buzz, no fret sprout, this guitar is gig ready out the box, just tune it up and go. 3. Playability is great, i love the thin necks that ibanez have used and its so easy to move. The pickups are what you expect from stock ibanez pickups, they do sound good though. 4. The look, this is one sexy guitar and I was torn between blue and gray, i settled for the gray instead and I have no regrets. Just something about the RG that has been a staple of ibanez, at least to me, and I'm constantly drawn to them. 5. Price, for what it's worth id recommend this to anybody on a budget who wants a solid guitar with no drawbacks, at least in my experience.

The shipping was super fast and packaged very well. Guitar was in tune and well intonated Straight Out of the Box without a blemish. American Musical Supply is the best online play now pay later company in the industry! They really care about their customers. The action is set perfectly low. The tone is great especially after tweaking the treble mids and bass and adding an effect like chorus or flanger or phaser.Distortion sounds incredible.And the guitar itself is an absolute beautiful work of art. AMS is hands down the best.

First thing i noticed was the fretboard was a nasty looking brown ive never seen on a guitar before. It looked nothing at all like the pictures. The pick ups were both loose and flopping around. And they dont line up with the strings at all. Some fret buzz. I know its only a $400 guitar but being an ibanez and reading the mostly awesome reviews i was dissatisfied. Ill do a fretlevel and change out the pickups hot rod it a lil bit and it should be a decent guitar. I was however very satisfied with AMS , dilevery, costomer service, details were spot on. No surprises.

Great guitar. Sounded great right out of the box. Stock pickups are high output gems.. great stock pickups. I had planned to swap out the Bridge pickup to a DiMarzio Tone Zone ( still may. Personal preference) but I’m liking the stock Quantum’s. Overall extremely happy! Would recommend this to anyone.

Very chunky. Neck was not bad for a guitar in it's class.
The EQ switch was an added bonus. It's super light and thin and that was awesome. The bridge looks like it will last forever.

Well made for the most part...but the battery compartment was not drilled right....the wood was chipped and the screw doesn't hold well
Its built to withstand alot of punishment..great metal guitar.

Overall, I'm impressed. It's a powerhouse.
Its really well-balanced. The neck is a bit beefier than my Destroyer..took a bit getting used to but I definitely like it
It kicks! Pups are very hot..big step up from passives
The paint job is awesome..very sharp and nice curves...
Needed a bit of tweaking..had to lower the action and set up the intonation, but once its dialed in..watch out!

The '42 appears to be a well made guitar, however the marred paint job shows a lack of attention to detail. Which effects the quality of the product. Ya think the guy who put his inspection tag on it would have done something about it.
Had it for little less than a month, and no problems so far.

The RGA42FM is great for Rock and Metal!! It won't disappoint you. The EQ switch is a very nice addition and relevant to the way the guitar sounds. Very easy guitar to figure out and proves that less is more.
Neck is fast. The controls don't seem to get in the way during quick play.
This part I may have trouble with the correct verbage. The '42 sounds clear, smooth, and distinctive on a clean channel amp w/o effects or the EQ switch engaged. Using a BOSS Metal Zone MT-2 pedal, thru a clean amp, the '42 growls. With the EQ switch engaged the distortion is fuller. Hope that helps.
The guitar AMS sent me has a light spot on the quilt top, under the clearcoat. Looks like someone used a pencil eraser and partially removed the color. The neck is unfinished and as this is my first unfinished neck, I'm a little concerned with it becoming discolored over time.
Intenation was off a bit, but not by much.
