I got this for my DSL20. Popped it into the effects loop and it works like a master volume. It may not be perfect for all situations, but it’s great for mine. Certainly cheaper starting option than a several hundred dollar soak.

TLDR:
Want to crank your tube amp but have an extra master volume?
Pay the $65 and get this.
No this is not an attenuator but If you're like me and just a simple bedroom player, get it.

The JHS Little Black Amp Box was the prefect solution to the sensitive volume control on my Fender Princeton 112+ amp which would go from 0 to ‘too loud’ with just a tiny turn if the knob. Now I am able to get controlled volume levels on my amp.

My old 30 watt amp has always been loud, even at low settings. In the old days, I had a Tom Shultz Power Soak that solved that problem, but it died a long time ago. I went to a modeling practice amp which is not really good for me. I hooked the black box up as directed, cranked the amp and turned down the volume with the pedal and it's just like the old days. I don't have to bother the neighbors to get the sweet spot out of the amp. I am very happy and highly recommend this product.It has only been a few weeks, but the pedal feels solid and I have another pedal from this company that has held up for a while.

I have a Marshall Studio Vintage which is a loud little amp. When we perform in some locations it is too loud. This little device connects in your effects loop and allows you to crank the amp and turn down the volume. I am very satisfied with the tone when I use it and is so easy to use and sits nicely on the top of my amp for adjustments on the fly. Wish I would have found this sooner. Buy it!

I play through a fender hot rod deluxe and it’s a loud amp great for just about any venue but it’s to loud for practice and small places so I was checking out different attenuators when I came across the JHS black amp box , Wow exactly what I needed I can crank up my amp and dial the JHS to the perfect volume level for the room I’m in and my tone sounds great ! I forgot to mention it needs to go through your effects loop so if you run effects through your effects loop you won’t be able to use this box at the same time . I run all my pedals Through the front of my Amp. So For me it’s a Great little box

I have a fantastic Fender Hot Rod deluxe 40 watts very loud. Put this in the effects loop it allows you to get all the break up and crunch you want at lower sound levels. I have about 5 JHS pedals. I love them all.

This box is perfect for managing your stage volume on any amp with an effects loop. I use several different guitars during a gig. These guitars do not have the same output, but I manage my volume with the box ... it also allows me to make overall volume changes without having to make adjustments to my amp. The manual says not to use with other pedals in the loop; however, I put it at the end of my effects chain and have had no problems at all.

I bought this attenuation pedal for low volume in the bedroom with high volume sizzle and I got it. I put the pedal in the effects loop and just adjusted to taste. Only drawback is you can’t put reverb and delay in the loop. Still I can rockstar out in my bedroom and not bother anyone else in the house. So simple to use, no battery and one knob even a drummer could use it

I got the Little Black Amp Box in an attempt to tame a PRS Archon 100 (no channel volume - just master and gain). The Archon already hated most of my pedals but I assumed that this passive little box wouldn't be an issue. I ran it through the loop by itself and it made an unbearable amount of noise just like the other pedals. The box seems well built and probably works fine with other amps. I sold the Archon but will keep the box in case I want to use it with an amp that has its act together. I guess the moral of the story is that this may not work with an Archon.

Just plug this in you fx loop and set your amp as high as you want then use this pedal to adjust your volume. Great for in home quite volume full tone sound. A must in my book.

Best $38 I ever spent on guitar stuff. Now my Fender Hot Rod Deville 60 watts can be turned up to 12, drive channel engaged and tubes broke up for sweet distortion and still keep it at bedroom level. GET THIS NOW!

I have a Hot Rod Deville III 2x12 and it is loud. I gig with it and never used the clean channel until now. Plugging this into the effect loop and cranking the clean channel gave my amp a whole new life! I can really get what I paid for out of my amp now. I bought a tube amp to get the tube sound, and with this acting as an attenuator I am finally getting it. Natural drive and dirt. I love little thing!

This is a must have product is you own a tube amp with an FX loop. If you are not able to drive the tubes with out driving your neighbors crazy with concert level volume, buy this now! I can drive my 100 Watt Amps with out breaking windows. I get all the natural drive/distortion I need at reasonable volumes. I also do not need to worry about drowning out the band, I can’t fit in the mix with a turn of one knob! JHS is a quality pedal and every player should own one JHS product. AMS has a great price for this, and is great to add to your cart as a little something extra!

Very cool little unit, does as advertised I can run my orange or15 2x12 rig at television volumes and it still sounds great. At band practice I have it at half way up and it sounds even better and I don’t blast our eardrums. Then live I still add a little attenuation but push the power tubes and it flat out RIPS! Very highly recommended!

Im the proud owner of a Vox Ac30. It's been my gigging amp for years and going from playing it to a crappy solid state amp when practicing at home just sucked. Turning it up to the point of natural break up meant pictures falling off the wall and one mad wife but with this, it's no longer an issue. Simply hook this into your send and return and turn your amp up to where it's cooking. Then dial the knob on the pedal to a level that won't get you divorced. Easy.

Very well designed, solid unit. Easily incorporated into a pedal board at the end of a signal chain that utilizes the Send/Return effects loop. This unit allows fine tuning of the volume level of my EVH LBX III whether I am using the amp at 1/2 or full power. Excellent value, extremely useful tool.

I have a 100w 2x12 all-tube combo amp that I like, but man, is it loud. Until I got my JHS Little Black Amp Box, I would carefully feather the volume between 1 and 2 if I had anybody else in the house. The amp sounds good at that volume, but the tone improves significantly if I can crank it beyond that; that kind of volume works fine on a big stage, but gets to be a bit much even for me in my garage. The JHS Little Black Amp Box gets that tone at a fraction of the volume, and at a fraction of the cost of attenuators (which require modifications to combo amps). If you want to get the most out of your combo amp at any volume, consider one of these. Some of the best money this jamming dad has ever spent!
