I have been playing bass for almost 2 years now im still a beginner but i have owned 3 other basses this neing my 4th. I have had a ibanez mikro, ibanez 370e and a schecter riot 4 and out of all 4 this is my favorite and its half the price of my schecter. The classic slab body and stingray tone has me wanting to never put it down. I slapped on some Ernie ball power strings and did a full setup and polished the frets. I also put some emi copper shielding tape on the back of the pickguard to just help with keeping the tone clean amd shield the pickup from any unwanted frequency disruption. If you are looking for a classic stingray and dont want to fork over 4 times as much money for a musicman than the sterling ray24ca stingray is the bass for you

I decided to go with the ray 24 (price) and all I can say is wow!! It played and sounded amazing out of the box. I decided to upgrade the pickup and installed an Aguilar pup in it. Along with a zero-mod thumb rest
This is now my main bass over my Fender P/J bass ??

This is an extremely well-made bass guitar. The slab body may not appeal to everyone, but it IS classic Stingray. The neck is comfortable and the fretwork is perfect.
I love the butterscotch color, it's very 70's like the original.
The tonality is very flexible thanks to a two-band EQ and onboard pre-amp.
This IS an "Active" bass so it requires a 9-volt battery, that's not a big deal; just a "heads-up".
ALSO: WHEN YOU ARE DONE PLAYING DO NOT LEAVE THE BASS PLUGGED INTO THE AMP! As this will drain the battery.
Lastly, the price point on this bass is unbeatable. For $500 you are getting a very professional instrument that you can gig anywhere at any time.

Bass sounds and plays great. I love the slimmer neck this one sports. The pickup in this bass is powerful it can get really deep as well as having that punch that stingrays are known for. I would recommend it to anyone.

i got the Toluca blue one. the neck has a smaller profile that makes for fast easy playing. the picks ups are nice i was able to get sweet lows and nice mids how i like. this bass screams for mods. new preamp and new pickup/pick guard the possibilities are endless. I want the butter cream one now!

I can't say how much I love this bass. Plays so smoothly, sounds great and is beautiful. Straight out ok f the box it was set up and in tune. I would not hesitate to buy more Sterling products. AMS makes it quick, simple and easy to afford! And the awesome customer service and you can't lose!

Perfect Sterling version of Old Smoothie!
Bass fit and finish is excellent along with that Music Man punch once you kick the treble up on the onboard 2 band EQ.
I got the Butterscotch finish and it looks so old school, I love it.

Love this bass. I like the String Ray sound, but did not want to pay 2k for Ernie Ball version. I am just a hobbist. It has been great so far. It does not have a concave back. It is flat so it is a little different playing sitting down. Would recommend to others

Glad I bought it.. Butterscotch w/ white maple neck , beautiful bass. TRUE MUSIC MAN SOUND , PLENTY OF PUNCH AND PLAYS GREAT. Can't get any better for the price.
