The title says it all! This compressor and amp really does wonders in elevating the MA-1000 that I have plugged into it! Not only that, but I've used it with a buddies bass and guitar which just made them pop out! The sound output by the amp and compressor combined is just fantastic! If you want a quality sound that can't be matched by plugins, I recommend this compressor!

I bought one of these because I couldnt get that extra something on my vocals to take it to the next level.
This is the most prized unit in my studio, its pure gold on vocals, it pushes your vocals to the front and sounds very natural and thick.
I have not used it on other instruments yet, but its supposed to also shine on bass as well.
For vocals though, if you are looking for something that will take your vocals to another level and give you high end studio vocal tracks, you simply cant go wrong with this unit.

This Channel Strip/ Preamp and compressor is amazing! The tubes bring out so much richness and body. If you only buy one channel strip for your studio, this should be it! Worth every penny, and this thing was so easy to set up. It gets great sounds right out of the box, nothing complicated with this unit.

The 610 brought out sparkling details in my mic that I didn't know it had. Keyboards and electric guitar sound full and focused, with strong attack. Bass is very flexible, with excellent fundamentals and grind. If you are like me and can't afford a stack of processors, than this is a great way to go for a home studio.

I waited awhile before submitting a review on it to make sure I had really dug into it. I really have to say that I love this thing. I use it mainly on my bass tracks and this thing absolutely amazing. It adds th warmth and texture I was looking for. The difference is definitely noticeable. All my clients notice and I’ve even gotten more work just for having this piece of gear. Anything I pass through this sounds great. If you’ve been thinking of getting one, stop thinking about it and buy it! You won’t regret it! Plus, AMS makes it super easy so why not!!!

I have been wanting one of these for a while and let me tell you it does not disappoint!
With 3 gain stages you have so many options from open and clean to gooey and distorted.
The compressor is great on vocals, probably a little slow for drums, but I imagine it sounds incredible on bass, which I’ll be trying out next.
The filters round it out, with 6 different frequencies to play with. I just can’t say enough great things about this.
If you’re on the fence and looking for a vintage tube sounds I’d say go for it! You won’t regret it.

This channel strip is worth every penny! This will give you pro quality vocals every time you turn it on! The UA LA610 mkii is right up there with any other top of the line pre amps. Sound is great even if you are just using a 200 dollar mic! Like I said, worth every penny!

This channel strip has transformed my recordings from thin and lifeless to thick and musical. I love being able to get a warm vocal using the 610 mic pre and slamming my bass track using the UA compressor in the same unit!
This thing is solid! I've had zero problems. Definitely quality workmanship.
Sounds thick, full, rich, you name it. It's my go-to channel strip when I need some character on a track.

First unit received with dead compressor. Second one had needle gauge die within 20 hours of use. UA hordes blueprints so only THEY can fix it. That means WEEKS of downtime unless you have other compressors in hand. Also, one rep said they'd pay to have me ship it, from my issues, but then a second rep said "no" it's not their policy, tough luck. I don't like being lied to. If I can't trust your word, I can't trust your electronics expertise either if something fouls up.
Standalone compressor is great option. Preamp choices for various impedance. EQ choices is nice.
Old style knobs and simple switches is classy. I like the analogue needle (when it actually works)
It imparts it's own warmth to your tone. NOT transparent, but that's what I was looking for.
2 units I've owned broke with few hours of use (the first with NO use) so I can honestly say MY experience has been awful. I would NOT use this equipment LIVE, nor would I NOT have a backup since it takes weeks to fix and only UA can fix it since they won't give out blueprints.

I love this product when it works. I hate this product when it breaks down. I don't like being lied to by Customer Service, and I don't like NOT being able to use a local technician for their hording the blueprints. Great for a Hobbyist of Studio that don't mind this. Horrible for a traveling musician.

overall sound is fantastic - it definitely captures the essence of the original devices it emulates
the variety of sounds that you can get with the 610 is huge so it takes a little while to explore all of the features
vintage sound at modern prices

USA BUILT, ANY MORE DEPENDABLE?
Even though I give the PreAmp section a 10, The Compressor is a 11.
The UA La-610MKll Is very easy to use, once you understand the input and output controls... Once you plug-in ANYTHING it's exciting to set the Pre-Amo!
The tone can be CLEAN or APPLE pie WARM... Now I understand the 3D Pre Sound.

VERY WELL Built, SOUND, and the UA name live up to the hype. I wish I was wealthy to purchase 2-3 more!

Made like a tank in the USA. Not assembled in China or Korea. In this case you get what you pay for without a doubt.
It sounds incredible!
Super easy to use! Although I did read the manual (pdf download) before I ever got the unit. Great read too!
SOUNDS AWESOME! I racked it up and mic'd up an acoustic guitar. 45 minutes later I came up for air...I can't believe how good this unit sounds! I thought about this for several years and didn't pull the trigger because of the pricetag...but I wish I would have bought this a long time ago now that I've heard it.

Very well built.
I love the compressor/limiter. I wrestled with the incoming chain and this unit offers the type of control you'd expect from a piece of professional equipment.
Intuitive controls.
The tone for vocals is warm. I work with high powered vocalist and have always had issues in getting their true performance without a dab of distortion. Not anymore!

My general opinion is I wish I did not procrastinate in getting this unit years ago. I would've saved a lot of money on pre amps. It is now my go to unit.

I like the way it gently compresses and the rich tube harmonics in the pre-amp section.
If you read the manual, then is easy to use. The manual is a very good tutorial.
