This pedal is well made. For me, it’s not what I was looking for in tones. I’m sure some like it but I wish I had gone for a different pedal.

Hats off to Brian Wampler. I have been chasing a usable modern heavy metal sound and this pedal delivers with room to spare. I mostly play at moderate bedroom sound levels with a Blackstar ht20mkii combo amp and this pedal nails the tone I hear in my head 100%. It is not a one trick pony by any means and is fully capable of creating any metal sound your in search of.
Running my amp into a 1x12 or 4x12 only makes the sound even sweeter and does not sound flat at all just full rich sweet heavy metal bliss. The pedal works equally well with 6 or 7 string guitars in multiple tunings.
Thanks to AMS for fantastic service and thank you to Wampler pedals.

IMO anyway. It sounds great, is super responsive, and really lives up to being a high gain distortion with actual teeth and a completely full sound. Can't recommend this enough. Definitely a keeper.

It will do a lot of heavy stuff musically.
I got it for some new material I’m writing. I’m loving the open sound at low gain. It does this sludgy heavy stoner blues thing I was after. The tight is a much lower volume but it nails that tight chugging thrash sound totally. Think Master of Puppets or Peace Sells.

This pedal is great, it really creates that Ola England style of distortion with a tight top and bottom but retaining that nice low end. I use it with a Blackstar TVP 260, it sounds good but it negates the built in noise gate creating a buzz and this amp has great distortion already so I didn’t need the pedal for it. However, it’s a great pedal and produces great gain sounds.

It's Wampler what more can I say? I was especially pleased with how quiet this pedal is.
Excellent! Wouldn't expect anything less from Wampler.

In the ever lasting quest for toys of tone I recently acquired the Wampler Dracarys and spent one whole day feverishly trying to dial in a good tone. Sadly I couldn't find a satisfying sound. I tried 4 different amps(Engl, Egnater, Marshall & Blackstar) and different speaker setups with no luck. I've since returned it as of this post. Perhaps it's the fact that this pedal is geared towards djent chugalug dropped z tuning which is not my forte. I'm not saying its a bad pedal, it's just not my specs as I am the classic metal/thrash guitar playing enthusiast. We all know what doesn't work for one may work for another. I've another Wampler pedal that works fine for me but this Fire Breather didn't light my fire. Still a quality built pedal and nice features though.

This is my second Wampler OD/Dist pedal and I am blown away by the tone, quality and versatility of this pedal. I play lead guitar in a Contemporary worship band at my church. I fully plan to use this pedal as my definitive lead tones, despite its ability to dial in extreme metal distortion. The open voicing with the gain at 12:00 provides a lush distortion, but without getting muddy or buzzy like some old school distortion pedals (I’m looking at you Metal Zone). Dracarys pairs well with my MojoMojo and Tumnus Deluxe. Can’t wait to play a set with this bad boy on my board.
