First of all, I am not a Drummer. I can play a bit. I am not a fan of Programming drum beats because I just don't have the patience, but I can play along with a click track. I use it to record Ideas I have for songs. Sometimes the beat I have in mind may be a little off, so I'll have to make my own.
I also find it to be fun to play and the practice modules were a big help to get my chops better. I would suggest this for a beginner or for someone with not much room but needs to practice. This kit takes up hardly any space in my computer room. It also folds up pretty easy for transport or stashing it in a closet when guests stay over.
The headphone jack is a big help as well as the auxiliary jack for a mp3 player to play along with your own music.
All in all it was well worth the purchase. Yamaha makes pretty good products and this is definitely part of the plethora of great things they have to offer.
