I’ve used the zoom f1 for varies shoots outdoors and I love the quality it provides. I haven’t had any issues. My only complain is the battery door. It’s really cheaply made. Wish it would’ve been made with a better solid door. I dropped the F1 on a shot. From the short fall it broke the door. Lucky the people at zoom were very friendly to help and replaced the broken door.

I am amazed at this little machine. It's built like a tank and very tiny. Super easy to use as well. If you need something "stealthy" and reliable then this deserves a second look as it fits the bill perfectly. The only part take takes some getting use to is the recording levels are "Lo-, Lo, Mid-, Mid, Mid+, Hi-, Hi, Hi+, Hi++ and AUTO". This is NOT an issue for me, since I "set it and forget it" and I don't play with raising and lowering levels on-the-fly very much. So I usually just record with the Mid or Mid+ setting. I will say that changing the level settings is EASY, just a click or two of a button so don't let that scare you. Please note that since this comes with a MONO microphone, which is actually a nice mic, the unit is defaulted as "mono". It DOES IN FACT record in STEREO, you just need to adjust that in the menu/settings. This little thing is not short on features at all ... the only thing it is short on is "size". PERFECTION.

I like Zoom audio gear. Once you learn to operate one interface, you pretty know them all. The new Zoom F1 is like that. I'm a reporter who mainly does two-mic interviews. I carry the F1 around everywhere I go and mainly use it for that.
I also like the fact that I can snap a shotgun capsule on it for loud environments, handheld use or for shooting video. It easily mounts atop a camera and can be used for video sound capture. This most convenient.
As small as it is, the device is well designed. It offers a lot of bang for the buck in a tiny package. Not only is the user interface thoughtfully designed, but so is the usability of the entire device. Another winner from Zoom.
