Kali Audio's IN-8 V2 is a 3-way studio monitor with an 8-inch woofer and a 4-Inch midrange with a coaxial 1-inch tweeter plus eliminates off-axis lobing.
This new version of the IN-8 is part of Kali’s 2nd Wave of loudspeakers. A new amplifier platform allows for 12 dB less self noise, while increasing max SPL by 3 dB. The tuning has been refined for smoother HF response, and the boundary EQs have been updated to reflect common real-world use cases. Physical improvements include lighter transducer cones for better transient response and upgraded cabinet construction for greater reliability.
The IN-8 features an 8-inch woofer, a 4-inch mid-range driver, and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter. The mid-range driver and the tweeter are coincident, meaning that they share the same acoustic center. You might have heard the terms “coaxial” or “concentric” to describe this arrangement. Those terms are technically correct as well.
Because of the coincident placement of the mid-range and tweeter, and the crossover of the woofer to the mid-range (330 Hz,) the IN-8 is an acoustic point source. This gives it an ideal directivity characteristic for a studio monitor. You will be able to hear a very lifelike stereo image, with details placed clearly and consistently. Off-axis lobing that is unavoidable in a 2-way system is virtually eliminated with the IN-8.
Substantial work was done to optimize the mid-range driver not only for its own acoustic performance, but also for its role as the waveguide for the tweeter. The shape is very precise to allow for controlled directivity at mid range to tweeter crossover, ensuring accurate summing both on- and off-axis. Excursion on the midrange is limited to less than 1mm peak to peak, so that the oscillation of the mid-range does not have a negative effect on
On top of this, the IN-8 incorporates all of the benefits of Kali's Lone Pine series monitors. These include optimized woofers for powerful, clean bass, a front-firing port tube, and our boundary compensation EQs.
Kali Audio IN-8 Mountable
The IN-8 V2 is wall and ceiling mountable using the SM-KP8 adapter plate and SM-UM1 Universal Speaker Mount from Triad-Orbit. This allows you to put the IN-8 directly where you need it in your studio, allowing you to use IN-8s as wall- or ceiling-mounting speakers for immersive mixing formats like Atmos.
Beginning in late 2021, Kali Audio has built all of our full-range studio monitors with mounting hardware that is compatible with loudspeaker-specific brackets and the SM-UM-1 Universal Mount from Triad Orbit. This allows the speakers to be safely mounted to a wall or ceiling, allowing for more flexible setups.
“Wall/Ceiling Mountable” may also be found prominently on the packaging of units that have the hardware for mounting built in. If your speaker does not say “Wall/Ceiling Mountable” on the amplifier panel, it does not have this hardware, and you should not by any means attempt to mount it.

The SM-KP8 is an adapter plate that can be used to attach either Triad Orbit’s SW-1 or SM-UM-1 Adapters to Kali’s IN-8 v2 loudspeakers. Users will need to purchase one SM-KP8 and one SW-1 or SM-UM-1 per IN-8 that they will mount.
The SW-1 or SM-UM-1 needs to be attached to the SM-KP8 before the SM-KP8 is attached to the IN-8.
With an SW-1, use the 4x included M6 screws to attach the SM-KP8 to the SW-1.
With an SM-UM-1, unscrew the 4 screws holding the universal mount to the swivel, then attach the SM-KP8 using those same four screws.
To attach the SM-KP8 to the IN-8, remove the two screws on either side of the amplifier plate of the IN-8. The top and bottom screws should not be removed. Place the SM-KP8 so that the holes on the side align with the holes on the IN-8. The SM-KP8 can be oriented either nightside up, or upside down.
Replace the screws that were removed from the IN-8 to secure the SM-KP8. Take care not to strip these screws.
