Jackson Guitars
A Jackson guitar is meant to be played, and played hard. Each of their endorsers and players choose Jackson because they know Jackson builds their instruments just how they want them. Jackson's instruments are built to handle hard lives on the road, and are ready to take whatever players will throw at them - that's the just the way it is, and Jackson won't have it any other way.

great guitar
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The PC1 is a well made guitar. Once it's setup, I see no reason that it can't be a guitar you can use for a lifetime. The materials and construction are of high quality.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I have 3 of these and all have stood up over time. Other than the gold hardware tarnishing, the guitars play and sound better as they get older.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
Very good guitar. Well made, quality tonewoods, excellent fit.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck is not a "shredder" neck inasmuch as it isn't a thin necked Ibanez. The neck is full, but not baseball like. The guitar plays well out of the box. As I have a guitar repair shop, it is easy for me to set it up to my personal preferences. Once this is done, it has become one of my favorites.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The sustainer pickup is smooth and clean. Not a real distinct pickup, but very usable for clean sounds. Middle pickup is useful for those "in between" sounds. The bridge pickup is very useful. Works well with both clean and dirty amps. I'm running Soldano's and Jet City amps and the bridge pickup is very versatile. You can achieve lots of sounds by using the volume control on guitar. Not a extreme metal guitar, but could be if you sourced the right pickups.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish looked great. However, upon inspection there were 3 finish cracks. (2) were in the neck pocket, which is common for Jackson guitars. The other finish was on the face of the guitar at the top of neck pocket. For a $2500.00 guitar, it shouldn't be there. I contacted AMS and they rectified the issue. It wasnt their fault, but they took care of the issue. The back of the neck was also very rough. After a little 1200 grit sandpaper, it was smoothed out and very fast.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
For me the action was ok. With the .010's it could have been a little lower, but was very usable. Nothing a setup couldn't take care of.
