Product Rating Product Review I like this amp very much it has crystal clean tone when you need it and that classic Marshall crunch as well. It takes pedals well, and you can also change the speaker load between 4, 8, 16 ohms which is a handy feature. Its my go to no1 amp.I would highly reccomnend this amp to any one who has never tried a Marshall. It is also affordable.

Product Review Got my 1st 1987X (although no “X”) in 1969 along with the matching 8 - 10” cabinet, with covers for both. A 16th birthday gift that was extraordinarily, reasonably priced for the time period. I used a “Y” cord-to connect both channels. Along with my 1970 P90 SG Special, I was known as the kid “with English sound”. Such warmth and kick from this 1987X head, alll the more merrier when those tubes heated up! I never used an overdrive or effects pedal, because they were not necessary, as I controlled the “beef” and smoothness, with my tone and volume controls. The price may be high, but the worthiness of your purchase will only exceed over time! Well worth investing in, if you’re a Bluesman or Rocker!!!

Product Review This amp is the 1959SLP's little brother, but don't let that fool you. This is one mean 50 watt amp that gives you the PLEXI sound you've been wanting your whole life. I've had this for one week and it still feels like Christmas morning. Easy to dial in the sweet spot and even easier to grin while you're jamming.

Product Review I’ve owned a couple JCM 800’s and a JMP and they were awesome. After beating myself up for selling them years ago I’ve been craving a Marshall for years. I got the 1987x and I am blow away from the tone. It’s one channel and that is all you need. Roll down on the volume for clean and turn it up for the awesome Marshall crunch! I pair this with reissue cab with greenbacks and its it SOOOOO the sound I’ve been craving. I’m a pro rock player and really needed and awesome amp to record rock guitar and I finally have it. Thank you SO much AMS for making it possible with the payment plan. Is I have to eat ramen every day for a year then so be it!!!

Product Review Classic Marshall tone for days. This thing is LOUD..... If you want to play it at a normal stage level do what I do and use a Bad Cat Unleash V2 or something similar to tame it. It don't really do clean but that's what a Fender Twin Reverb is for.... You don't buy a Marshall Plexi for its clean tones. Think Hendrix, Page, AC/DC et al. If you want the best, world class, classic Marshall sounds buy it...... if not..... buy something else

Product Review I have a JCM 2000, this is a nice change! old School Marshall. It's a reissue and they reissue the old Quirks as well! Its gets loud just taking the volume just off of zero! No big deal though, just crank it up, get your tone, then use a expression pedal to back is down to a usable level. or roll the volume down on your guitar. Yes kids all the Marshall tone you could ever want!

Product Review I just wanted to comment on this Marshall head for others considering buying, I'm an older musician that plays guitar & bass, that grew up in the golden years of Rock, Hendrix, etc! I have had a vast assortment of amps & axes & have had a few classics get away but two of my keepers have been this Baby & and an original DSL 100 head! I have this head (one of the first year re-issue without the fx loop) with vintage greenback 4x12 cab. Tone monster is an understatement here! A touch sensitive powerhouse that actually needs No pedals but are always optional but has always taken them with stride in front! What Jim Marshall built & designed here with "Valve" technology is truly Magical! When one is playing this beast, all find themselves just starring at the amp! This beast is almost 15 yrs. old now & still begs to get it on like a heavy weight champion! Amps will come & go, But this one will always rule, seems to have a little of Jim Marshalls soul in it! Get Ya Some!

Product Review I have owned lots of other marshals, fender, sold amp, Bogner etc... But this is the sound I have always wanted that's stuck in my head and on millions of recordings. It is very loud like a lot of people said. I will be buying an attenuator for sure but it's worth it because the sound is awesome. Very distorted but very clear at the same time. Not fizzy or buzzy like most amps. LoDs of clear treble but not harsh. Best amp I have ever played. It nails the dio sound from yrs ago also so many others including Hendrix

Your general opinion of this product. Right out of the box, this tube amp 50W head delivers the sound of Gary Moore through a Gibson Standard Les Paul. Hand made in England with loving care and all eyes on Quality! No frills just basic amp head with the natural tube amp distortion - easy to adjust distortion! Classic Blues-Rock tones ! After a brief tube warm-up breakin time, this amp was ready to Rock! Beautiful assembled with the Classic Marshall Tolex covering! Just bought it, but looking forward to years of dependable service!

Your general opinion of this product. Having played through many vintage super leads, this reissue hits all the right notes. There is no tonal difference i can detect. The added loop was the only thing missing from the original. No more. Also the ability to deactivate the loop with the added DB input selection switch allows for easy transition from rack mount to floor pedal effects and noise control. I highly recommend using a dummy load box before the cabinet and a tube screamer in front of the preamp, you will NOT be disappointed. This product has the ability to reduce tonal frustration into non existence, if you don't have one, your missing out... It's a Marshall reissue made in England. N/A N/A N/A N/A Judging by the original super leads, i would say if i took care of it, it will take care of me. Guitar amps are only as good as you treat them.

Give This Amp Serious Consideration

Form, fit and finish is excellent--I have never had problems with Marshalls. Dependable? I expect it to last for decades as the vintage ones have. I just got it--but as above, I believe it will stand up over time. Like most quality amps--these sound better as they age, Your general opinion of this product. More than saying, "It's a Marshall", the product is high quality, can be used just about anywhere to project its marvelous tone. All of the above--the control panel is vintage Marshall and simple to use. This is what I like about these amps--simple controls: plug in and go. Again a guitar question--I describe the sound as dark and smooth. I highly recommend this amp (and speakers)if one knows how to play well. Nicely done. The tolex and beading is installed properly, no dings or tears--the logo was on straight--yes very quality built. More of a guitar question--but the knobs turn smoothly; everything connects properly and functions when I turn on the output circuit!

Excellent Made in UK quality. In the last 2 years ive seen one of these things (still) being used on stage by everyone from BB King to Jeff Beck to neil young to power pop bands.they were the standard 35 years ago and they are still the standard today. just try to deny it. Ive never had to Junk a Marshall Your general opinion of this product. Some complain that Marshalls are old fashioned and out of style. To that i would say, good enduring music is art, and guitar playing is a craft. An artist or a craftsman dosent need stylish clay or canvas, you just need good clay or canvas. This amp is the good clay to create some new art, or work within a strict traditional style. I would take one of these, and all the music that has been recorded and performed on them since 1969 over a "modern" amp packed with goofy features i dont need, or if i do, i will invest in high quality studio editions. slightly dark in a warm, grainy way at low volume/gain setting, and develops midrange bite, note definition and the highs and lows become more distinct and separated until full volume. At full volume you get the mid heavy Marhsall roar that defined the sound of heavy rock electric guitar classic High gain British. Whatever you need it to be. Looks great. Simple and classy. no flaws in manufacture. Just fine. plug it in and jam

This 1987x reissue is a keeper! Bought mine 6 months ago, it's just a great amp - sounds gorgeous with both my Fender standard Strat and my Epiphone Les Paul Classic plus; great clean and and crunch, and when you load up the front end with an overdrive stompbox, the leads are just awesome! Overall, a great amp! (And to the guy who wrote that Marshall's are "unreliable junk", you're just one of those tools who believes that 'tone' means layers of impenetrable saturated distortion, which most modern 'rock' players use to cover the fact that they can only play power chords.)

Your general opinion of this product. Marshalls are unreliable junk, the options on this thing are trash, I would rather do what I ended up doing after owning 4 marshall valve amps and thats saving up the money for a REAL amp and not these has been paper weights. REAL amps are brands such as VHT, Soldano, Bogner, Hughes & kettner Tri Amp, and of coarse Mesa. All of these companies make a varity of models that fit a persons needs from clean jazz, to dirty blues to the heaviest possible crunch. I have seen combos from Mesa that crush a DSL 2000 and expecially this Reissue trash. No contest Marshall is a thing of the past.

Your general opinion of this product. I had an orginal back in '69, that was paired with a sweet 8x10 Celestion matched cab. Using a P-90 equiped SG Special through it, I was able to achieve pure tone Heaven, to the dismay of my Fender equiped cronies who were in awe of my sound. This baby is so close to the original, with the addition of an EFX loop too! Great for time based EFX like delay and chorus. Run your wa-wa or compressor through the front end.
