Product Review
This is probably one of the most underrated mics for home and professional studios. There are certain mics that are renown for being very versatile in the studio; AKG 414, Audio Technica 4050, Shure KSM32, and you can add the Sennheiser MK4 to the list. It's slightly brighter than the AKG and AT mics but not harsh or brittle and takes EQ very well, and like the aforementioned mics just sound good on whatever you place it in front of. I recently recorded a song using the MK4 on vocals, acoustic guitar and percussion and was really pleased with how great everything sounded in the mix. Doesn't require a ton of gain so actually pairs well with audio interface mic pres. For $300 it's a real bargain so buy two!

I wanted a great studio recording mic and could not afford the top of the line. This one was barely in my budget and OMG the sound quality was phenomenal. We recorded with it last weekend. I was very impressed. I would definitely recommend this studio mic.

Your general opinion of this product.
If this is your price point, there really is no peer. This is absolutely the best sub-$500 mic. I doesn't have low shelf or db PAD, but it really doesn't need it. It just sounds good. If you pair it with mogami cables and a decent tube mic pre, you will have professional results.
Again, this product is really flawless. Totally simple and works perfectly. I've had it for two years now and it has made its way into every recording session I have done. Vox mostly, but it is also really good on acoustic guitars as well.... (it picks up room and high end better than the pencil mics).
Easy as it gets... plug and play.
N/A - I really like its simplicity. My signal chain has all the features I need, I just need the mic to capture accurate sound and it does.
Sounds like a Nuemann at 1/3 the price. In fact, I think it would be hard to tell the difference in a blind-fold test.

Its a build is excellent.
It could have a high pass and a shock-mount but it doesn't.Surely this was done to keep the price competitive.
Plug it in ..phantom it on.
Quality round "neumannesque" sound signature. No sibilance with warm friendly highs!
It's incredible for the price!

MADE IN GERMANY, OWNED BY NEUMANN, GREAT MICROPHONE!

Very Solid Build. I'd say solid as a Neumann!
Low freq roll-off switch. Tight, clean, and very low self noise!
Very Easy. Best if you take some time to set your mic pre-amp's impedance level accordingly to the MK4. Normally mic pre-amps should be set to 8 or 10X impedance of the mic.
Smooth highs, NOT brittle. Tight lows, NOT loose or muddy. To my ear, the MK4 has approx 70% of the Neumann TLM-103's sound character.

This product is made very well. Its build like a tank, nothing cheap about it.
Best feature has to be the mic head. The head of the mic is pretty large, so the mic catches all that goes into it. I wish they would of added the other two patterns though.
Product is very easy to use just plug and play.
The tone of the mic is by far one of these best condensers hands down for the price range. When recording vocals I was amazed how accurate they were. Top end is just a little too much for my taste but with a little EQ you can change that.
