Product Review

First off, this amp sounds great. It's hard enough to find a 3 channel tube amp, and even harder to find one with 3 usable channels. The clean is crisp and clear and the 2 OD channels go from classic rock to hair band to modern metal without getting muddy or losing much clarity. I always associated Blackstar with metal, but you can really run the gamut with this amp. There's a lot to like here. The separate volume for each channel greatly enhances the usability. The wattage throttle is one of my favorite features. At home it's always on 6 watts and I don't notice much if any tone degradation, even at 'don't wake the baby' levels. When cranked up to gig or practice volume that 60 watts pushes through the mix with ease. This is a great amp if you need to cover a variety of styles. My only (minor) complaints are the reverb is not that great, and the amp is quite heavy. The effects loop makes up for the reverb but there's not much that could be done about the weight. It's not an 80 pound amp, but it's hefty for a one x 12 combo so be aware. Overall I'd give it 4.5 stars.
