A recreation of Dave’s favorite JB bridge pickup that has been modified to achieve the same tone as the pickup loaded in his guitar he used all over Megadeth’s legendary 1990 album ‘Rust In Peace’! Widely regarded as one of the most iconic and influential metal albums of all time, its breakneck rhythms, intricate arrangements, shifting time signatures, and blazing dual lead guitar lines showcased the band’s mastery of their craft.
During the recording of the album Dave relied heavily on one guitar in particular, loaded with a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and 59 model in the neck. According to Dave, that JB had a tone that was different from an ‘off-the-shelf’ JB – and had become part of his signature sound.
Seymour Duncan worked closely with Dave to recreate the tone and feel of his favorite JB, ultimately altering the winding process in order to achieve the tone he was looking for – compared to the standard JB model, the Thrash Factor’s low end is tighter, the mids are slightly scooped, and the highs are more aggressive.
The set includes Dave’s preferred neck pickup, the SH-1n 59 model, in matching matte finish. The Dave Mustaine Signature Thrash Factor is hand built in Santa Barbara, California.

What started as a simple string and pedal sales catalog has grown exponentially over the past thirty years. The early days were a time where catalogs didn't have much of a presence in the industry, but what began as a college dorm room operation grew rapidly. In 1986 we moved to a full product offering and 64-page catalog, which over the years has grown to 162 pages. Join the AMS family and get your free catalog now!
