Its built very nice does not feel cheap.. the action is smooth as butter.very comfortable to use.
everything is A+ as far as the hardware but software??? the sounds they give you I don't know what Akai was Thinking!! the worst sounding samples I have ever heard.that of a cheap casio.I would ad a real sax sound like that of the sax brothers samples.and better analog lead sounds like those of native instruments. or at least allow you to import these samples with the software they give you.
it plays very easy till you get to the octave rollers on the back that takes some work getting used too. but its very playable for live music or recording.
if you use kontact 5 with the sax brothers or the analog sounds from native instruments you can do some real work if you use the software that comes with it you will be very disappointed with akai they truly dropped the ball on this one when it comes to sounds.
Your general opinion of this product.
Its a great Product aside from the lacking disappointing software and sounds they give you.
action was smooth as butter right out the box.
as a hardware device that can trigger other sounds yes as a instrument out of the box no and this is because of the software sounds.
