This is the first kit I've ever owned, and as a beginner I can say it's a great kit. There are a lot of parts, but the kit is very easy to set up. Once you get the kit set up, selecting a preset (or making your own) on the drum module and playing is quick and simple. The kit is also great for recording midi. 10/10, would recommend.

To start, drums were my initial instrument 15 years ago, but I branched out and am trying to come back to it.
I needed something that would not take up as much space but would work to begin to practice drums again for beats/rudiments and recording purposes.
For a beginner? Great
Intermediate player? So-So
Expert? Nope.
The feel of the mesh pads are rather nice compared to the rubber ones and at this price point that is quite commendable, however the lack of zones on the cymbals and the preloaded kits are quite lackluster.
Cymbal Zones? You do not get multiple or even two zones on the cymbals, it is just one sound.
Kits (Tone)? The base kits are very average, and you could use your DAW to get a better sounding kit and use the drums for midi input, but it would have been nice to have a usable kit that can be engineered later on.
Response? The hit response and bounce of the meshpads isn't 100% what you would get from a drum velum/skin; however, for the price point, space usage and volume, it is very good once you factor all of that in.
Overall for practice, they are still quite usable but for recording and more complex sounds, they are lacking. I would recommend them to a beginner drummer or an mid-intermediate drummer in an apartment.

Budget friendly and user friendly this is a great little set right out the box. With so many voice options I'll never get bored. Paired with the matching 8" drum amp, this pair thumps. AND, the biggest reason as a newly aspiring drummer. This set can also use headphones, so you don't have to run everyone else out of the house.

I bought this for my teenage son and it’s perfect for apartments! We live in an upstairs unit and he plays every day and nobody knows because it’s so quiet. Most excellent e drum set great for beginners and your pro drummers, want more? Expand it with the alesis expansion pack. I was able to add another kick pad and purchase a double kick pedal for that around double bass extremely happy with the alesis nitro mesh set and without the totally awesome people from AMS I wouldn't have it. All of my music needs have come from them and only them there selection, prices everything about them is just fantastic

Highly recommend this set. I bought this one for my son who just turned 16 and has special needs. He is very limited in mobility with his entire right side of body,when I tell you this is the best thing I could have purchased,it really is and has been! This set allows you to easily move about in a room or transferring to any other room..also, it can be adjust for different height and can be set up how you prefer! This is my second purchase on drum sets and by far the best one hands down!!!

You can't beat this with a stick. Alesis has made a great product here. Adjustable mesh pads, decent quality hardware and a bunch of customizable tones in the drum module. Easy enough for anyone to tinker with who isn't already familiar with drums or ekits, IMHO. One huge detail, especially anyone who is new to e-kits, this drum set does NOT come amplified. It does not produce any sounds unless hooked up to an amplifier or directly into a PA setup, etc. No built-in speakers here. LOts of fun for just practice or take it seriously and run it through your audio interface and record. It's doable! Get this, you will love it!

Only reason for 4 stars is we’ve not had it long enough to review the full spectrum…We purchased this set for my 13 year old who took up percussion in school. His growing interest in the drum set at church etc prompted watering this newly planted seed. With the guidance of a friend who’s an experienced drummer, we settled on this electric set for home use. Said friend helped him get it all set up and left saying “man I want one! That’s a neat set!” The package(we did the package with throne and headphones) came with everything he needs starting out! Took no time to set up and he was playing with all the cool features! He’s spent countless hours playing around with all the settings and learning his new LOVE. We can’t wait to see where having this new resource takes him! The set is compact yet not so much that you can’t stretch out to really play! Great for a corner in a bed room or expanded out into a larger footprint! I do recommend making sure you have a rug or something to go under the pedals to help keep them from sliding on hard floors. So far we are beyond pleased with the purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone, beginner or seasoned! Also shipping was super fast! We got it in less than 2 days!!

I got this electric drum for my son that has been playing drums since 1 yr old. I got tired of the loudness of a real set so I wanted to try this product out. It is so easy to set up. The mesh material used on each Tom and snare is very durable. It has the ability to tighten each drum if the mesh becomes loose. So you still get the feel of a real drum kit. Once everything is connected and set up, the kit is packed with Amazing sound quality. It has over 20 different kits built in for any style of music you want to play. This kit is so good that you can plug it into a loud speaker and take it on small gigs. Very light weight and easy to pack up and go. This kit is packed with a lot of punch for a reasonable price. This kit was incredibly easy to assemble and start jamming. The included sounds in the module are pretty good without any adjustment, but if you want to it's really easy. Also the kit can be mapped via usb or midi to your computer and you can assign a vst to it giving you infinite possible drum sounds. I use Steven Slate Drums SSD5.5 free version, and it works flawlessly. The frame is solid, and the pads are well constructed. Pretty decent kick pedal too. All in all, a winner!

One of the problems you face when starting a new instrument is cost. You don't want anything crappy but you also may not want to dump a bunch of cash on an instrument that you may not stick with. THIS is the perfect balance. You get to make a worthy enough investment into something that honestly... you're gonna just love. I've always wanted to play drums and even without all the frills of a DW kit (and ticket price), you can play along to any song. This is especially good if you need to keep the noise level down (my apartment peeps or crappy neighbors) or get yourself a loud P.A. system and be the crappy neighbor. :) Great for starters and for folks who need a practice kit at home.

This drum set offers great large sound in a small compact package just the right size for apartments, game rooms or music rooms, even a bedroom! The ability to play along with your own favorite songs is a plus as well. My grandsons love the sets I have purchased them (all 3) ! I would highly reccommend this set of drums. I love this drum set. The module has more than enough sounds to customize to your liking for most genres. The pads feel pretty good. The only thing I don’t like is the Hi Hat control pedal. It doesn’t seem to trigger the sound every time I use the pedal. Not sure if there’s a way around this, but I have tried to change the settings in the module, but it still doesn’t trigger every single time.

This set is far better than I expected. Little complicated for me to learn how to use the module but I am challenged in these kind things anyway. Very impressed with the sound quality! Sounds just like real drums. Can't wait to hook up a speaker to it to annoy everyone, lol! I found its easier to assemble by looking at the picture rather than going by the directions though.

For the absolute beginner or kid, i would recommend this kit. It has decent sounds that can definitely be upgraded via pc with ez drummer or getting a new module all together. In all honesty, I would recommend the Surge kit instead. Its another $170 but well worth it in my opinion. You get a 10” snare instead of a 8” snare. Dual zone toms instead of single like the nitro mesh. A bigger kick so you can get a double bass pedal. The cymbals can also be choked. That in itself is well wroth the extra $170. Its honestly something you can grow into as a player and take it beyond. Be warned, both kits use the same module. This kit is good too but if you have the extra money, go for the Surge.

However you do need headphones and it helps if you have a headphone amplifier, it really helps out with the sound. I purchased this from AMS a little over a year ago and I have played the hell out of it. Everything from the pedals to the mesh pads have withstood thorough use. The module hasn’t given me a single problem and I have had no slippage from any part of the lightweight rack. If I were to find something to complain about it would be that the bass drum pad can not handle a double bass pedal, I get a lot of silent notes when I use my double pedal but it can handle every tap I can throw at it on the single pedal. The high pedal is kind of mediocre but for the price of this I have gotten hundreds of great practice hours in this past year. I’d recommend this to anyone needing a good practice kit.

Got this just to play in my apartment. Worked fine with headphones, a few months later i tried to jam at a quiet volume with some friends. again, set never left my apartment once. the output from the brain to an amp would cut out if you hit the drums at a certain volume, a normal playing volume. their was be a huge volume drop and it would never come back up. literally could not just plug it into an amp and play.
i contacted Alesis and it had a one year warranty and had only been a few months. they had me trouble shoot some things, i get that, but once that didnt work they literally just STOPPED responding to my emails. i emailed again and again, and they wouldnt reply. no number to call, nothing. im out almost 400 dollars on this piece of junk, worthless paperweight and the company refused to do anything about it.

Overall great e-kit for the price. I use it with Superior Drummer - very easy set up and ready to record. However, I'm writing this review because I think this needs to be said:
The hi-hat pedal absolutely 100% sucks! In order get a consistent open and close I literally have to lift my foot off of the pedal!
At first I thought maybe it's settings so after going through a myriad of youtube videos tweaking every setting available I ultimately discovered it's the pedal itself. Interestingly - it appears there used to be a pedal where you could adjust the height of the foot pad to bring it closer to the trigger so that you didn't have to do a six inch foot lift to get a consistent open and close. That is no longer the case.
Because I use open and close hi-hat a lot this issue is so disturbing I'm going to spend extra and see if I can find a model of the pedal that will allow me to make that adjustment.
Overall - I would recommend this kit. If you are a drummer used to a real hi-hat pedal, just be warned.

Great kit for the price. Alesis is one of the brand regarded for making kits. Dating back years ago their drum machines were also regarded as the go to units so entry into the electronic drum kit industry would have been an obvious decision for Alesis. I have been an Alesis drum fan since the DM series module days and also mentioned this kit in my Tascam 24 review, which provides a few positive experiences connecting up to that console.
Prior to connecting to the mixing board, I assembled the hardware with only one snag and it was self-inflicted. I wanted to try locating the module on the right side of the rack, but the wiring harness is cut to lengths that only allow left hand positioning.
Everything else was simple: Put on headphones, find the kit that I liked and jam. The next step was also easy, plug my phone into the module’s input jack, start the song and play along! Add the onboard click track and this is a great rehearsal kit.
The keystroke sequencing to enter the adjustment mode for pad volume, sensitivity, etc., is not quite as the manual describes, but is easy enough and you will figure it out.
The module is basic in that there is a small number of kits and there are fewer varieties of options for each instrument voice, but that is OK. Most modern music uses simple drum tones and you can always add you’re your own creative samples to the module.
I give this kit five stars because it is exactly as described: A good kit for under four bucks, especially for practice and timing purposes. BUT, I would use it live because the sounds and triggering dependability are both that good.

After considerable research I chose the Alesis Nitro. I am not disappointed, it is of high quality and very versatile. Sounds very good and you can tinker with it and create your own kit. I do have a few criticisms that you would not know until after purchase. The assembly directions are terrible. The overall volume through your headphones even cranked is very low. So when playing along to music you have to adjust the volume on your device rather than bringing the volume up on the Nitro to blend, it is simply not loud enough. Very disappointed with that. Also if you are left handed like me and don't play the kit the way you see it set up in every picture on the internet you will have to get creative in setting it up because the harness wires are not long enough. I had to mount the module on the center rack to accommodate how I play.

I have been buying from AMS for two decades now. I purchased a Roland TD-3 VDrum for myself from AMS when my daughter was 1 years old. 16 years later she has been playing drums ever since and I bought her the Alesis Nitro which she was extremely happy to get for Christmas.

I recommend this set. There are no red flags to speak of that are usually a concern with inexpensive equipment/gear of any kind. In fact, quite the opposite. I had to award 5 stars because the price vs function is the fair way to rate a product. Well this little kit is an overachiever.
I always plug American Musical Supply because they DESERVE it.

There is a full drum kit here that is able to be customized and fits in a small space. I have had this for a few months now and I love it. The only thing is that you may have to adjust the levels on the snare, hi-hat etc. to level it out, but that is minor. For the price this is an absolute deal.
My granddaughters and I have a blast as well when they come over.

Does not take up a lot of space. Decent sounds in the library. Practice mode is also good. I'm a beginner drummer and I just can't stop playing. Electric drums make it easy not to annoy the whole house while practice. My only complain is that I wish the drum pads were 10 inch instead of 8, but this price I shouldn't be complaining.
Setup is fairly easy. Just be sure to look at the illustration carefully.
AMS also delivers quickly. I ordered on a Thursday and they said it would be here Monday, but it actually got here Saturday.

Let me start by saying that I was very much on the fence about but an electric drum kit. I’ve always played acoustic kits and was worried I would not get that organic feel with an electric kit. I was so please when I started to jam on my Alesia Nitro Mesh kit, it really plays and sounds like an acoustic without on the recording hardships that come with an acoustic. The only thing I did not like about the kit was the assembly instructions, instructions are not clear and are in black and white making it difficult to see which way certain pieces go. Other than this I am very please with my Alesia Nitro Mesh Kit and I believe you will be as well.

I bought this Alesis Mesh kit for my grandkids although as I was putting it all together I just had to try it for myself, well 3 hrs later I decided to buy myself one..LOL Yes it was that good, I have a Alesis Dm5 although it is a bit large and not very portable and this Mesh kit can go anywhere at anytime, just loving the full sound selections and it has pre set songs you can jam too, computer ready for recordings and very affordable. To be fair, this is my first drum kit ever, let alone an electronic set. I dig it, and feel the upgrade from the Turbo set is well worth it. Lots of sounds and settings. Some cons; several pad options (especially snare) sound like they are far down a hallway and are extremely soft sounding. My main issue is that when i hook it up with my DAW the kick drum isn't programed appropriately. Maybe it's just me, but the other pads work fine, but the kick is like an octave or two higher, so it doesn't seem to register. I can hook it up through my mixer so it's not the end of the world, but a little annoying. Im sure other programs specifically designed for it work, but even the program you get free through Alesis has this issue. But overal fun kit for a beginner.

I really like the mesh, like a good decent electronic drum kit should have and not the rubber ones(had those in the past), reminds me of a more expensive kit back in 2001, like over $3,000 at my friend's music studio, it had that same feel for much less $$$. The set up was easy but it will take some time depending on your preferences of how you want your kit to be accessible with ease, make adjustments as you go. Had this kit since last week Friday so less than 5 days and already rocking it! I love this Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit! Easy to maneuver through the guide book and setting up the volumes and customizing the pads to your likings. Highly recommended!

I am 46 and my son is 11.
My background. 32 year guitarist. Played and sang 5 nights a week for 5 years for a living. Played gigs all over, up to Jazz fest in my home town of New Orleans.
This is my first drumset. My family is trying this set out as an experiment. It went together well. Easy directions. No issues with hardware, like other people said they have had. Great options On sets and sounds.
I can plug in the headphone Male to male cord from my phone to the module, then play YouTube videos that have “no drums” on songs I know so I can try to play along and learn.
No Bluetooth available on this model.
I plug headphones into the module and I can adjust the overall volume and I can adjust the volume on the phone so I have the mix I want.
I see 1/4” left and right outputs to use an amp/monitor/PA. I have never used those.
24 preset sounds with a wide range of coverage and I think 15 sounds you can modify/customize, which I like.
You can change each drum (trigger) to any of the sounds available, add or remove reverb, and you can change the volume of each drum. So, I turned them all up slightly (from the preset 28 volume to 31). This amplified the sound a lot in the headphones.
I like the high hat foot pedal. It isn’t just open and closed. There are a few in between options. The bass drum pedal feels smooth (chain driven). There is one ride cymbal that works well. The crash is great and it has a choke feature. So if you squeeze it after hitting it, the sound gets muted.
Overall, I’d totally recommend this set to anyone. I bought this set, a stool, and a box of sticks. $48 a month on the no interest payment plan and now that we are stuck at home (coronavirus is happening right now, just in case you see this long from now), this is another thing to keep my kids interested in music and no one has to listen to “horrible” sounds while we all take a stab at learning how to play drums.

My son has always wanted to play drums. So, we got this kit for him so gauge his interest and let him work on his skill level. For the space saving and ability to play quietly it has been great. He can practice basically whenever he wants.
We do not have any major complaints. I do wish the frame was a little more "sturdy." While I didn't expect it to be anything other than what we got that is one area I wish was improved.

I just purchased the Alesis Nitro Mesh Electronic Drum Kit. I needed a kit that I could practice with in an apartment. I have been a drummer for over 30 years and only used acoustic drum kits. I have been stubborn and never wanted to play electric kits. This is my first electric kit and have been amazed how it plays. It was easy to set up, doesn't take up as much room as my past acoustic kits, and I can play using headsets without disturbing my neighbors. when your ready to play with others, just plug into an amp and jam. they are easier to break down, take in a vehicle and set up. Once you get to know the module, I am surprised at the different sounds I can get from this kit. After playing this kit, I changed my mind about electric drum kits. This is a great product. It requires a speaker to hear it unless you us head phones. Which I really like because it’s not so invasive in a small home with my son practicing. This company is upstanding. Payments automatically deduct so there is no need to have to worry about paying on time. It gives people the opportunity to afford professional equipment. Product is 5 star. Our family Has gotten lots of use out of it so far.

This thing is quite impressive for what it cost, I can’t wait to use other software with it. The drum pads are adjustable in every aspect. Even the heads can be “tuned” for desired tension.

I purchased the Alesis nitro mesh kit from American Music Supply I read everything that pertains to this particular drum kit. I like what I have purchased. It is very well made, the instructions were easy to follow, when I got it set up and hooked up to my PA system which I all so purchased Thur American Music Supply company it profromed beautifully, from a rich crisp sound of the cymbals to the deep tonal sounds of the ride toms/to the floor tom to very deep sound of the bass drum comming out of Genesis PA system which really sounds awesome Thur the speakers. I am a very satisfied customer, and will say that for the money you cannot beat American Music Supply, or the two products that I have purchased. Thank You

This set was for my wife. She plays and has a traditional set but wanted the variability to move it as necessary and to keep it quiet if the kids are sleeping. I ordered this kit for my son to learn the drums on. In general, and especially for the price it is a very nice kit. Everything feels very quality, the frame is very solid, and easy to set up. The mesh adds a very realistic feel not too soft not too hard, allows you to do things like rolls very easily. There are several kids to choose from, with a few song preset that you can play along with which is very nice. The pedals have like a Velcro on the bottom that keeps them from sliding, and eye weight feels nice. Pads are quiet, but the kick can be kind of loud through the floor of the room is upstairs. Audio output straight to nicer headphones is kind of quiet, but overall very happy with my purchase.

I purchased this set for my 8 year old son for Christmas. I couldn’t wait to try it out myself, so we opened the box and set it up Christmas Eve. I was very impressed with the overall quality of this set. The drum and cymbal pads and the pedals are much nicer than I expected to find in a kit for this price. The module is very easy to use, and offers a lot of different kit options for versatility, as well as some patterns and teaching tools for him to practice with. This is a wonderful electronic set for a beginning player, or a student to take to college. It’s great for someone living in an apartment, where noise is a concern. And although I’m not really a drummer, (keyboard and guitar player), this kit would work fine in a studio, or live performance application as well.

The set up was very easy and it takes up very little space. I had this Alexis Nitro for a little over three months. No one wanted to learn to play the drums until now. I'm begging hey guys can I get a turn. I would like to say it does meet my expectations but I spend less than ten minutes on at the set before someone else is begging to take a roll. The sound is great, the style is eye catching. For a beginning drummer or just as a practice set you want be disappointed.

I love my new Alesis Drums. They sound awesome! Easy setup. The module is easy to read and setup to custom fit your playing style. The set is very light and easy to move. It does not take up much space. Easy connection to my USB mixer and recording.

I've got this set for two of my friends from our church already. The set is complete, you can straight up use it in church without any problems. The quality of the components is very good and the set doesn't look cheap, let me put it that way. The sounds it comes with are very nice and you have absolutely everything you need and on top of that you have a ton of adjustments. Very pleased so far.

I expected bare minimum quality. Its pretty cheap as far as electronic drums go. But this was really good. Sound quality is great. Easy to manage cables with included velcro straps. Like that it included sticks and the power cable. i've been using this drum for a few months now and plan to use it until I wear it down to the bone. Compact, adjustable. My only complaint is that the =kick drum pad isnt big enough for a double bass pedal.

I purchased the Alesis Nitro drum Kit about two weeks ago and have been happy due to the fact every thing came with the kit. The best features about the kit is that you can adjust the sound based on what you like. The mesh heads can be tuned the same as an acoustic drum kit. The most important feature is the "Module" it allows you to make adjusts to all functions on the Alesis Mesh kit and fine tune to your satisfaction. Overall this is a very good electronic drum kit and reasonably priced for what you get. I would definitely purchase the Alesis Nitro Mesh Electronic Drum set again.

This is a nice little kit. The only consideration is the toms and snare pads are a bit small at 8", but that makes it even easier to add fills with everything being consolidated in reachable distance. The sounds and kits in the unit are fairly decent, and can be programmed to customize each individual drum with the sounds in the unit. I hooked it up using the usb to my DAW software and it was a very quick setup. This made it possible to play virtual instruments, utilizing the great sounding kits in my DAW plugins, without any noticeable latency, and each drum can be separated to record on its own track simultaneously. So you aren't limited to the sounds that come with the kit. Frame seems a bit flimsy when building, but once everything is attached and tightened, it is pretty sturdy. Other than the size of the pads, this is a great choice on a budget. Very happy with it.

I bought this kit so I could practice quietly at home since I live in an apartment and always have. Its easy to set up and quiet. However, I had some issues with getting sound from the bass drum pad when I turned it on and scrolled through the presets. I had to mess with the settings to get decent sound from it. Nonetheless for the price, I cant complain.

I purchased the Alesis kit a couple of months ago. It is absolutely awesome because you have the ability to increase your dexterity as a drummer while working on rudiments and practicing songs. It's a band all by itself because of the different features with the sounds. You can either use a speaker system as the output or use your headphones. I am totally pleased and happy with my set. My level as a drummer has increased more being able to increase practice time...and have more time since I don't have to setup/breakdown my equipment. Kudos to American Musical Supply for carrying this item...and making it affordable with payment options!

I started with a set like this and have upgraded twice. Bought this set for my son who like me hadn’t played in awhile. Great set, easy to upgrade when ready. Good voices in module. Very easy to set up and set voices to your liking. Biggest advantage is hardly no static sound. I have had someone playing and I walked thru house, you cannot hear them. Mesh heads adjust for any response your use to. Disadvantage is rack size. It seems all edrum sets tend to be small. Adjust with blocks is what I did. Recommendation to Alesis is to make available a listing of voices to ease setup.

Bought this for quiet garage practice. Full disclosure, I selected it for the price point and was willing to take wahtever quality I got. The kit itself plays pretty well. The sounds aren’t great but they’re definitely passable. The snare being duel zoned is nice although you do get a sort of machine gun effect when doing some rolls. It’s super light and easy to move the kick drum tower is great. The stock kick pedal is surprisingly awesome. Toms and bass drum sounds are great. Hi hats and snares not so much. All in all. I couldn’t be happier spending only 350 dollars on a kit like this. I love it. It’s small footprint is also a plus.

This kit is pretty great, much nicer than the non mesh head model that my friends both have. sounds are great and hooks up easily to the computer so I can also utilize ezdrummer and other sounds. I did buy a double bass pedal and it works fine with the pad that comes with, also with the additional add on cymbal and Tom this kit covers everything I could want. Out of the box it’s a fantastic kit for anyone who wants to start playing or wants a set for practice when you can’t play loud. Highly recommended.

The Funk (James Brown) said that “everything is a drum”. The Alesis Mesh kit proves him right and then some. I have been looking for an instrument that can roll with intuitive expression; the MIDI keyboard bored me with the lack of feeling that came from fingering plastic keys like a tinker toy (nothing against tinker toys as a source of sound) but music is a physical thing that will never be fully enjoyed without being able to slam the damn thing or bend it until it breaks. This drum kit gave me the ability to both BANG and tinker. Every sound you can imagine can be transferred to symbol, snare, high hat etc. .. . . You can lab rat the sounds you love and then test them in a relieving way. Rather than just pushing buttons you can play the sounds as if you just created your very own instrument. It gives the satisfaction that no other machine or instrument has ever given me. It has proven to be exactly what I had always hoped it’d be. . . FRESH AND EXCITING.

For a dad living in a two bedroom apartment along side his 4 year old daughter and angrily pregnant wife, this kit gives me the ability to practice or full on jam at midnight without waking my family. The mesh heads a are much quieter than the rubber heads on the original nitro. Being able to adjust the heads is a huge advantage as well. I can make it to where I don't have to slam the sticks to play with any song on youtube when I have my phone hooked through the aux. Input and my headphones collecting it all in my head. I love this thing and I recommend this set to anyone who wants to begin drumming and also wants a good sound for such an awesome price. Drummer dad's approved.

Aside from the kick pad just being large enough to accommodate a double kick pedal , this kit is really good. The mesh pads are great. They make playing on the kit enjoyable. I can play for long durations without tiring. And being I can hook up up to my DAW, it makes writing and recording demos very easy, when used with a plug in like EZdrummer. I highly recommend this kit.

my wife starting showing interest in playing drums, so I decided to purchase this for her for Christmas and she loves it, they playability is superb, she was able to learn real fast thanks to the feel and easy of use of the kit, we live in an apartment building so having an acoustic set is a no-no, so she has the ability to play at any time of day, all she has to do is plug some headphones and voila, also it doesn't take that much space. the built-in drum sounds are awesome, plus all the other features that make learning the instrument so easy, I totally recommend this for newbies or players that are limited by space and can't make so much noise due to living conditions.

The fact that you're getting mesh heads on any electric kit less than $500 automatically receives four stars at the least. The only thing that I would change is with all of the different pre-made kits have a list in the booklet of the different styles those would work well with. This is a kit for a beginner or anyone on a budget, with a beginner just that little difference would increase the learning capabilities of the new drummer.

While the kit isn't as customizable as I thought it was, it's still got room for expansion beyond what comes with the kit. The drums are very responsive, even when hit with a hand as opposed to a stick. I have not yet tried plugging it into a PC so I'm not sure what the options are there. The kit was EXTREMELY easy to put together. It's easy to adjust, lightweight for easy movement. The ONLY negative I have is the audio level is quite low out of the kit's controller. Volume stays maxed out so I can hear the drums. The mesh heads are suprisingly quiet! Downstairs I can only hear the bass drum because of the stomping, you don't hear the drums themselves outside of the room.

I was borrowing a standard Roland electronic kit from a friend. It took him 2 years to ask for it back. But when he did, I felt weird not having an electronic kit as it's easier for me to record. As soon as I got into AMS' website, the Alesis Nitro kit was the 1st one that popped up. Of course I had some reluctance based on the "you get what you pay for" saying, but I was pleasantly surprised with this kit. The installation instructions were a little rough to figure out, but once I got it set up and turned it on, I found that I made a great choice. With some brief adjustments, it sounded better than the Roland kit I was borrowing. Module and Interface are user-friendly. A manual wasn't needed to figure out some things I wanted to do, although having a kit before did kind of help me know what to look for. I have had friends come over and they too enjoy the Alesis Nitro. It's a great choice for those on a budget.

This kit is well made, easy to assemble, and has more features than I expected for the price. The mesh heads are very responsive and unlike the old rubber hit kits, they are tunable. I am amazed at the sound quality and how realistic the various kits contained within the module sound. I’m running mine thru a mixer into a set of JBL studio monitors and sub-woofer. It really sounds good.. I bought the kit primarily for my four year old granddaughter.. But after getting it set up and hearing how good it sounds.. Got this as a Christmas gift for my husband. I decided to get this kit versus a traditional kit as we live in a tiny apartment and this takes up a lot less space and has the ability to have head phone plugged into them, which honestly saves my sanity. I love my husband, but I love being able to have him plug his headphones in so I don’t have to hear him pounding away at them. His feedback from it has been amazing as well. He is still figuring it out but seems perfectly happy with this kit!

For the price this is one of the best purchases I’ve made from AMS. I bought it because I’ve always wanted a drum set and thought it would be a good addition to our music room. Come to find out the kids love it and we love it cause it engages them but the are super quiet especially with head phones. I’ve played them a couple of times but our youngest plays them every day. They are responsive and sound really good for the small amount of money they cost. And of course AMS got them here quickly and everything was correct.

I’m a beginner and needed something quiet. Lots to do with this kit. Can also be used as a midi controller, as I have it mapped to Battery 4 in Ableton. So the possibilities are endless. And the module with the kit is full of various kits as well. I have no regrets with this purchase. And recommend it. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars, is due to the lack of proper instructions. Yes you will be able to put it together but it will take some concentration and looking at the finished product oveo and over with each piece you touch. Haha. The box comes with all parts needed but none are labeled which makes you second guess the puting it together process. Took about 1hr total time to set it up. No biggie but would make it so much easier for people to put this baby together...

I had a solid-pad electronic kit previously but made the move to an acoustic set. Now that I'm recording, I wanted something that would provide me with MIDI connectivity and better feel than the old rubber pads. The mesh heads are great. Very responsive, and also adjustable so you can dial in the tension. I didn't have high hopes in regards to the samples/sounds but was very surprised at how good they sounded out of the box as well as how much control you have over individual parameters within a kit. Excellent value, very easy to set up, and no complaints. Yet another order fulfilled by American Musical that has gone beyond my expectations! Having made purchases at other online musical instrument retailers, I will only ever order from AM because they just never fail to impress.

First things first, my son plays this constantly and roughly and it is holding up strong. This is a amazing sounding drum set. My 4 year old has increased his skill and since we can put headphones on him he can play it at 5am when he wakes up without killing the neighbors. He has learned more rhythm and timing. All in all best purchase for a kid or person who lives music.

I'm new to this drumming thing, but this set makes you feel like it's a natural thing. It's quiet when using headphones and loud when you want it to be. With the built-in kits and the ability to customize the sound of your own personal kits, this is amazing! The ability to plug directly in to the computer also is awesome also! Overall... This set is epic!

It is well worth the money spent many times over. The best value to get the feel and sound of an actual kit, with comfort and easy placement in any confined area.
The rubber head electric kit that I have been using in the past pale drastically in comparison in those areas of feel, sound and comfort!
One of the best purchases that I’ve made in quite some time!

Very well-built, kit rack system extremely sturdy. easy to set up. instruction manual very easy to understand. Very fast ship. Sound quality is excellent. Mesh heads are definitely better than the old rubber ones. So many different sounding kits to choose from. I love the fact that you can change the pitch, Volume, EQ, sound for each individual pad. Absolutely love my purchase. American Musical made this happen for me they're the best!!

This is a great beginner kit. It does not have the bells and whistles of the Strike Pro kit but the module has great kit sounds. Pads are small and perfect for the smaller drummer. My 8 year old loves playing this kit.

I had bough this product for my younger brother because he loves to play drums, but didn’t want to make any noise in the house. When his birthday came around I bought this drum set as a gift, and he LOVED it! He plays the drums every single day. The quality of the drums Er isn’t superb, and really a bang for your buck! This is exactly as advertised. It came in less than 48 hours and everything was included as advertised. It’s not a high end kit but totally worth the price. Coming with the kick pedal was huge for me. One less thing to buy. Mesh heads are great. Wish the kick pad was mesh too but for what I paid I won’t complain. Great product and great company AMS!
