I researched for quite a while to find a good mic to record bass from my Fender Rumble amp. I went with this mic. Worked great for me. Ran it through a Mackie Mixer and into my DAW. No eq or compression, just set the gain carefully not to clip. Got a great sound. So much better than bass guitar plugged straight in then using software.
I’ve always liked Audix mics. This one is no exception.

For the most part I’ve always used Audix drum mics except a run with a Shure set. This is a great mic. As much as I liked the fusion series, this one is better. Toms are much fuller sounding. Easy to EQ as well.

I already had a few of these but o needed one more for a weekend gig. 2 days later I received the mic with a day to spare. What can I say about the Audix D2, I use them for my toms and couldn't be happier. Punchy mids, fat lows, smooth highs, best live tom mics I've ever owned. Great service from AMS

This is great for Toms on a drum as well as for an acoustic box which is the things I've used it for. Under rated by many people but once you know how to properly mic instruments this is super high quality in my opinion.

Although I’ve used this mic with success on various percussion things from congas to snare drums, they are best as tom mics. Not only are they much smaller than the Sennheiser 421, they are also hypercardioid, so they have much better isolation of the toms. I have 3 of these in my mic locker, along with 2 421s, and I find they work great together. I just recently had a drummer with 3 rack toms and 2 floor toms and I used the D2 for the rack toms and the 421 on the floor toms and got great results.
