Product Review I ordered this about a month ago. I received it within 3 days! Super fast shipping and customer service was able to make the process of getting this Jen ordered for me a breeze! It was well packed and well setup???? the maple top I received on this one is a BEAUTIFUL quilt. This hands down is the best guitar I’ve ever gotten the chance to play and now own! I highly recommend making the investment on this one! Gibson has definitely got their a game going! The pots are super responsive and the pickups scream! The tuning is solid aswell. The only time I ever have to tune is when there is a change in temperature. I will definitely be using you guys for all my orders from now on! And the payment plan is so convenient and it pulls out automatically so you don’t have to worry about missing a payment

Product Review Long time player. Have had many les Paul's . Bought a 60 s les Paul here that had bad frets. Had them replaced. This particular 50 s came in much better fret wise. The kneck was perfect. Bit chunky but nice. Have to be honest, not a fan of burstbucker pups. Too Brite. Would switch w to custom buckers indtead.. over all a nice guitar. Wouldn't suggest any guitar over 9 lbs. Too much. Good luck and yes their Qual is getting better off the rack. Yup

Product Review Instant classic. From the feel to tone this guitar just feels right. Compared to my buddies 2013 standard this makes his feel like an epiphone. Straight forward guitar without the frills or ridiculous technology. Just a straight up rock n roll machine. Love it. 10/10 would recommend.

Product Review I have 3 les pauls 2 traditionals & the last one I got is a 2013 les paul standard gold top. I played it at one gig & one practice, that's it. I don't want to scratch it so I wont play it again. I'm happy just to open the case once in a blue moon and polish the dust off.p.s. I got the gold top on the same street as the allman brothers big house - vinveville ave in macon ga.

Product Review I saw this on line and thought that I always wanted a really good electric guitar and the reviews where great. I wasn't sure which Gibson to get and after speaking with the specialist on the phone we both decided that this was the best for what i was looking for. I must have been on the phone for a 1/2 hour. And the guy was just as excited as i was.We decided to match it with a Marshall amp and i love it. I have bought the Gibson, a tailor, the marshal and a set of drums. Next I will be buying a bass and i will be picking there brain. GREAT EXPERIENCE

Product Review I bought a Gibson Les Paul Standard 50’s in Tobacco Burst in March of 2022 from AMS. The one I selected was 8 pounds 2 ounces. Out of the box it needed a slight truss rod adjustment, a fine adjustment for intonation and I ran the nut files through the slots to smooth them out a little bit. I adjusted the pickup pole screws to be flat as the pickup covers and set the pickup height on both 2/32 or so on both sides treble and base. I’ve had 5 Gibson Les Paul's before this one and never connected with any of them but this one is a gem. The pickup bite and cut through like no others I’ve had before. This guitar has the bridge pickup thing that maybe one in 50 have, fantastic guitar, it’s a keeper. Thank you AMS.

Product Review Got mine in Cherry Sunburst, and what a guitar. A sight to behold. The quality and craftsmanship is flawless (not one blemish); playability and tonal options: boundless. Treat it to some nice strings (I use Stringjoy), you won't regret it. The guitar stays in tune, and works with any style or any occasion. It's really hard to put down. It doesn't get better than this! The neck feels just right; it's thicker than the 60s LP, and the Deluxe (deluxe is somewhere in between). If you were to own just one Les Paul; don't hesitate; you'll have a guitar for life.

Product Review I was a bit surprised. Beautiful finish, not a single flaw. Once I got her tuned up, she stayed in tune, intonation was good too. That's not the typical story with Gibson lately as it seems their quality control has taken a nose dive. Maybe they've started to clean things up over there. As far as AMS's service, it's always 100% spot on.

Product Review Always wanted a gold top! This is an very good guitar. A couple of items I think need improvement though. For Gibson, it is a 50's guitar, should come with 50's style wiring. This is an easy fix. For American Musical, I wish they would show pictures and weights for the gold tops like on the other 50s and 60s Gibson Les Pauls. They are the same price. I asked customer service when purchased and they could not tell me the weight. I was told I could return the guitar if it was too heavy but that would cost me return shipping. I was lucky and got one that was in the low 9lbs and kept it.

Product Review Have owned many Gibson and Epiphone Les Paul's through the years. This 50's model has a beautiful tobacco burst I have not seen since the late 80's. The pickups are not harsh and the weight is manageable. The case with this model is also beautiful and provides lots of protection. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Product Review Well I purchased a barely used 2019 model the the tech in Nashville set up as far as any supposed QC issues that Gibson has been accused of but the fit and finish was great and was 8.4 lbs and was a little darker than the HCS I normally see Not so yellow in the middle as the 22 models Actually can use 49 - 11 strings and really broke in well and fast Subtle flame too which I prefer Price keeps going up though Plays well with a top wrap or standard string set up Pretty happy but might put premium pups in it although stock sounds great

Product Review I’ve had a 70’s burgundy Les Paul Custom since the 80’s. It’s seen a lot if stage time with me & lately has been showing signs of needing some repair work. So with a new rock musical job coming up, I decided to splurge & treat myself to a gold top. In addition to being stunningly beautiful, it plays & sounds like a dream. The 50’s Les Pauls have a fatter, rounder neck than I’m used to but it felt comfortable immediately. These guitars are expensive but well worth the money. Best guitar purchase I’ve made in over 20 years. Highly recommended!

Product Review I purchased a high end SG from the new regime and it was EXCELLENT,flawlwss, perfection in every way. The nut was a work or art, and even with the lyre tailpeice it stayed in perfect tune. My new goldtop however was a different story. First thing I noticed was that the entire guitar was coated with a white powder,(polish) with white fingerprints all over the instrument and white stains on all the plastic that could not be removed. the truss rod cover was so scratched that I tossed it away. The nut had a big chip in it and the rosewood fingerboard was missing chunks of rosewood and had chisel marks and divots throughout. It was a mess. The action was so low, the bridge was screwed down as low as was able, it was unplayable as recieved.I had to take a tooth brush and clean all the polish out of the frets it was so thick my fingers were white after picking up the insrument. The PROS: it was unusually light, only 8.5 Lbs which is rare for these goldtops. As I am guitar tinkerer I easilt repaired these issues and got a discount in leiu sending it back. VERY dissapointed in GIBSON, I will never buy a guitar sight unseen again.NOT AMS,s fault, they just resell the item.

The finish is flawless, and the action spot on. Everything from the nitro finish to the “birth” picture it came with makes owning one of these a great experience. The EZ payment plan is a great way to spread out the payments with no interest. I would definitely buy another Gibson, and I would buy it from American Musical supply!

Product Review Thanks to the revised price structure with new models within my grasp... and the AMS payment plan... I finally got the tone I have been chasing! Once I dialed in my desired set up on my Les Paul 50's Standard and slapped on my favorite strings, I was amazed how my amps came alive! No longer did I have to tweek knobs searching for the tone - it is now at my finger tips! And it plays like butter! I had been buying PRS guitars, but they always need pickups upgrades. Right now my AMS wish list has 2 more Gibsons that will stay stock once I get them. Gibson has won over a new dedicated customer because my money is well spent for the value they provided.

Product Review Great guitar, nice chunky neck, feels like you have something solid and substantial when you pick it up, feels like USA quality! And the tone, man this is one of those guitars, you just plug in and play, no mods needed. One thing I don’t care for. Minor OCD, the plastics do not match. The selector switch is aged yellowish, the poker chip is cream, the pickup rings are a lighter shade of cream, and the pickguard of off white like the binding. My only issue really. But I 7nderstand why. The things you would touch with your fingers the most would look more aged and dirty. It makes sense, but I’d rather they all matched and looked new, and I aged them myself. If I want a relic I’d buy a relic. That’s the only opinion I have. Otherwise, no need to mod anything, you just play it and it does Gibson things. Thank you Zzounds/ AMS (same people)

It’s heavy, but that’s how LP’s are supposed to be .

Product Review Nothing but good things to say about this guitar. Had it for a couple months, and I'm pretty happy with it. Finish, setup, construction, everything was top notch. AMS got it here fast and safe in their normal fashion too. Mine came sight unseen because I was on the waiting list, but I couldn't have picked a better top if I'd tried. Super tight flame, I'd have said it was a AAA if I didn't know better. Plays great! Chunky 50's neck feels perfect in the hand, and just feels really satisfying. Pickups sound great, smooth and creamy, but will bite if you dig in and run a little extra gain. I think to a small degree I prefer the pickups on the 60's LP Standard, but the neck makes up for it, and unlike a neck, you can change pickups if you want. I can't stress enough how great the 50's neck is - its not R8 thick, but it's thick compared to a slim taper, and it fills the hand perfectly. If you get cramps from a thin neck, this is the cure. If you're on the fence, don't be. You won't regret getting it, I'm glad I did!

Product Review I recently got this guitar but sent it back the problem major finish flaw on the back and the pickup selector switch would not stay up in the neck position kept coming back to middle also major tooling marks on side of the fretboard the top of the finish the gold was nice out of the box it played great but if these problems with the finish the pickup selector and tooling marks are a one time thing maybe just got past Quality control I can see that but if this is A going thing Gibson seriously needs to do better quality control this should not be happening on a $2500 guitar.

Product Review Gibson quality is back and maybe better than the past 20 years! The pickups have a warm vintage vibe, I own two of these and the tops are phenomenal. The fretboard could use some oiling from the factory but that’s the only flaw I could find! The neck is right for a 50’s les paul and the non weight relief just gives you the total aspect of what a real les paul was meant to be without the price tag of the custom shop! AMS is super easy to deal with, shipping is extremely quick and the payment plans are what makes dreams like this come true for the more common working man to be able to afford! Product Review The gold top looks amazing and sounds incredible! Everything felt good but after only playing for a day or two the clear coat on the neck started to peel over the binding. When I first got the guitar I noticed some dark marks over the neck but it almost rubbed off so didn’t think anything of it but that area is where the peeling started. I also had issues with the case, it was starting to peel as well. You can tell they cut and glued the sides and just looked sloppy. Very disappointed with the fit and finish after hearing how Gibson has changed for the best. I really wanted to keep the guitar but for the cost I couldn’t justify it. Customer service was great they gave me a few options. I plan on purchasing a new one when they are back in stock. Hopefully I just got a bad one. (Wish I could leave pictures!)

Product Review Plays exactly like you'd expect a dream guitar to look and play. Lets just put aside how gorgeous this beauty looks (sometimes I'll catch myself just creepily staring and breathing heavy..sorry for that visual) It Has that ultra creamy vintage tone but still has plenty of fat bottom end when and where it's needed too. I grew up a metal kid and don't get me wrong this thing will growl appropriately but my amp barely leaves a slightly distorted vintage bluesy setting when this guy is plugged in. Of all the guitars I've owned there hasn't been one that can match that game. It..just...sings

Sadly over the last decade or so Gibson’s guitars had suffered from quality control issues but this guitar is proof positive that those days are over. I am absolutely in love with this guitar and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for what is sure to be an investment down the road.

Product Review I have a 2008 Gibson Faded which is chambered, lighter and from what I can tell a bit less in thickness. Compared to that, this thing is a beast! Pluck a note (even softly) and the note just blossoms and flourishes. It's almost like I have a compressor on. Beautiful. Highly recommend.

Product Review I absolutely love this guitar. The feel and tone are are great! The finish is amazing. The "tiger striping" was perfect. I used to have ha a 75 Les Paul but had to sell it years ago. I am very happy with this one. What was even better was that American Musical Supply made it all happen by financing it in house when I couldn't get financing through Guitar Center.

Product Review I have around 25 guitars and this is simply the best I have ever played. I have a couple of other Les Paul's but they have chambered bodies and don’t have the resonation or tonality of this solid block of wood that definitely adds to the weight but I am fairly big so it’s not an issue to me. The construction is superb and I can’t find any faults. I have played this through my Marshall JVM 410 Head with a Marshall cabinet with Celestion Vintage 30’s, various solid state amps, a Line 6 Helix, Positive Grid Bias FX 2 software and it sounds great in all circumstances. If you are thinking about a Les Paul, this is probably to one to get for that classic sound that no other guitar can seem to replicate. The Standard 60’s had a slightly darker and looser tone to my ears but also sounds great. This 50’s is slightly brighter and tighter.

Product Review The Gibson Les Paul standard is my American dream. When I was a boy I dreamed of having a guitar like all my heroes. Over the years I have had the opportunity to own many used Les Paul standards. Now today after 40 years I’ve finally been able to buy my dream guitar. The American dream is different for everyone. For some it’s a house and the white picket fence with two cars etc., for me it was being part of the Gibson Family. I’m proud to own my 50s Gibson Les Paul standard. It is everything I dreamed it would be. I am a professional musician and I couldn’t be any happier with my new Les Paul. Thank you AMS and thank you Gibson for helping me reach my American dream. God bless America.

Product Review I love the 2019-2020 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50's and 60's models. My buddy got the 60's, and I felt like it was close to perfect. Good weight and balance, great sounding pickups, comfortable neck, nice to look at. I played a 70's Deluxe back in the 80's day, but haven't even considered any new LP since the 90s for a bunch of reasons. I wouldn't even think about a 50's model because of the the thicker necks and profile. After seeing how great the new 60s was I thought I'd take a chance and get the 50's Gold Top. Something about Gold Tops, they always seem to sound great. I've played the real deal. So I got it, mind blown. It's like the 60's model on steroids. The sounds are truly the classic Gibson tone associated with the LP. I've heard a "pro" reviewer state that this guitar doesn't have any exact features of any LP 50's model, which may be true, but it doesn't matter. It is what it is, and it's great. It has vibe, mojo. The neck and fretboard feel very dense, and the body has mass, so it simply projects better than most other guitars with passive pickups. The pickups are voiced amazingly. You can get all styles out of it, sustain, chirps, and harmonics on the lead pup, jazz and low tone on the rhythm pup, and quasi-strat with the middle position dialed in. I have this in Drop Db tuning, no issues whatsoever. The workmanship is impeccable. I got a heavy one, I don't mind, in fact I like it. IMO heavy is the way to go with a LP, for tone. I have medium sized hands and I wish my hands were bigger, lol. The neck barrel is not as challenging as some early 70's Customs I have played/owned, it seems to be a new profile. So I'm going through a curve on getting my hand back into shape for this, it doesn't bother me one bit because the tone makes it worth it. This guitar (and the 60's) are going to go down as some of the best, because I don't think they'll be putting out this level of quality for long. So the proverbial caveat, don't delay, get one while you can. You will get an axe that will serve you for the decades to come, and is an investment in your playing immediately. It just sounds great, and you can't get the sound without the construction. (PS, the 50's pups are louder, lol) After playing the 50's for a couple of weeks the 60's felt like a toy, lol. Just kidding.

Product Review Got a 50s standard in tobacco burst. Comes in at 9 pounds ...very good weight comfortable and resonant. The top was more flamed out than than most i have seen so far .when i saw it on Ams i pulled the trigger instantly to get it glad i did too she is a keeper . Ok the nut is cut correctly and the set up was perfect stays in tune wonderfully even after some serious bends. The pots have a great taper and the pock ups are really dynamic...lower output pickups in a dirty marshall clean up well with the volume control . No finish flaws and man ....what a top on this one . Plays , sounds looks amazing . More than happy with this . The neck is a bit thicker than a 60s slim taper but its not as chunky as a R9 carve , its right in the sweet spot super comfortable . This is the stuff that made Gibson a legend in the first place and a great return to the basic form . Outstanding job Gibson . Also Ams made this so easy to aquire , great service and people at AMS .This is my third Les Paul standard from them in addition to some sg s and a flying V and other gear . The buying experience has been outstanding once again with Ams.

Product Review Being a player for over thirty years, playing various guitars, some borrowed, some great and some not so great, and playing the struggling musician game, I pretty much accepted that I would never own my very own Gibson Les Paul, and, after all, it’s just wood like all the rest right ? How much better could it be ? Why spend that kind of money ? Boy was I wrong ! Thanks to AMS, and their flexible payment options, I decided it was time to find out, and I opted for my dream guitar, the Gold Top Standard . I was not disappointed! The flawless finish and binding, the simplicity of the controls, the way it resonated without even being plugged in, was all quite impressive, but then I plugged it in, and there it was, that magical classic tone , that wonderful crunch when overdriven, that snarl playing leads, the response when you back the volume or tone off, just incredible, but above all, wether plugged in or not, this didn’t feel like most guitars, it feels and sounds “ complete “ as if the whole guitar was one continuous piece, not parts put together, and that’s magic, and Gibson made me a believer! Do yourself a favor, believe in magic!

Product Review I waited a while to get this type of guitar! I bought this Jan 30th 2020 I am so happy I purchased it and its an amazing instrument! I own Dean's, Jackson's, EVH's, Zemaitis, and other customs. It's nice to add this to my arsenals of guitars! My only gripe and it's not Gibsons fault, It's AMS. My guitar sat for months and the fretboard dried out. The picture the tester added clearly shows the fretboard was lubed up nicely! They didnt even try to do a once over before shipping. Also, it's missing the regular trussrod cover. Was it suppose to come with a blank one? I still gave it a 5/5 besides those issues. and I am super happy with everything else!!! I built guitars at fender for over 14 years in the Speciality dept (Jackson's and Etc) and know all about detail.. again, very satisfied!!

Product Review After a period of years I thought we were loosing Gibson. The Les Paul was turning into a guitar know one recognized nor was too happy about. Until now. My goodness did Gibson nail this 50s Les Paul to the wall. They could not have done any better. These models along with the other Standards are going to go down as the top contenders. Everything from the non-weight relieved body’s to the rosewood fingerboard and right down the the perfect fit & finish is all just incredible. The classic wiring & pots, the single radius neck, the classic sound, and many other factors make this Gibson’s finest Les Paul effort in years. Thank you also to American Musical Supply. The 18 month payment plan made this dream a reality for me. I have been buying Gibson’s since 1992. This is hands down the finest I have yet to own.

Product Review As a kid I had wanted to play guitar but never got into it but now about 20 years later I decided to give it another shot I still had my old guitar but it was too small and the les Paul was what I wanted and I have to say I made the right choice. I did a lot of research on Les Paul models released over the years and found out the models of this year are a return to form and they really didn’t disappoint. I’m a big guy ( about 6 foot 5 )so a reason I went with a Les Paul is a lot of people claimed it’s big, heavy, and unwieldy so that sounded like a plus. It sits very comfortably on my lap and I have absolutely no problems with the overall shape. the slightly bigger nut than a lot of other electric guitars affords my big fingers more breathing room. Low key though one of my favorite things is the Polaroid birthday photo of your guitar that comes in the case, makes it really feel special. I highly recommend this guitar for anyone interested. Personally I love it and plan to cherish for the rest of my life.

Product Review My husband has played guitar since he was a teenager and is now in his early 50s. We have four children (ranging from 12 to 22 years old) and because we are very budgeted, over the years he sacrificed everything, including all of his musical equipment, to provide for our family. I’ve always known that he loves Les Pauls because he is always staring at them online and in magazines. In particular, he has always loved Gibson ‘gold top’ Les Pauls. When I saw that AmericanMusical.com offered 0% financing using our own bank card at a very affordable monthly payment, I had to jump on the opportunity to buy my husband the guitar of his dreams because I knew he would not do it for himself. He always puts himself last ahead of our family’s needs. He was so incredibly surprised to get it. He absolutely loves it and won’t put it down. He is always going on about the flawless finish, the ultra low string action, and the sound that Les Paul’s are famous for and the fact that it included the hard case. I would personally like to thank American Musical for offering the ability to make this guitar within reach for practically anyone and everyone that wants to buy one. You’ve made one very deserving husband/dad a very, very happy man!

Product Review First of all I’m a diehard strat guy. Decided to contribute the to new Gibson company after watching a few videos. Definitely change the nut. I can’t stress that enough. The guitar will come with the nut action high and the bridge low. That will need to be changed. That’s it! Pickups are fantastic once you lower them a bit and it sounds amazing. Well worth the price and I received the exact guitar I picked on the AMS site. Really nice case and you even get a pic of your guitar in the Plekk machine.

Product Review Over the years I’ve owned a couple Les Pauls, but a lot more Strats/Teles. A ways back I found a 100w Marshall 1/2 stack in a pawn shop and it got me craving that Gibson & Marshall sound. For me that’s not crazy distortion but more Allman Brothers. Like most any electric guitar player, I wanted that ‘59 look and sound. I had a friend with a Custom Shop reissue that I enjoyed playing, but I couldn’t fork out $5000+. When info started coming out on the Heritage series, I started reading and watching advance reviews, and I was excited to hear we were getting a good solid back to basics LP with no gimmicks, no push pull pots, no active electronics, solid body, the old neck profile etc. I finally placed my order with AMS, choosing the 50’s over the 60’s for many cosmetic reasons but also the neck profile. It took me a while to narrow it down to the Cherry Sunburst because the gold top is awesome too. When it came, I opened up that beautiful case, and the aroma of a freshly built guitar greeted me. The finish and striping is impressive. Sustain for days. Very playable from the factory, though at some point I may let my luthier check it out. I’ve done several gigs with it, mostly through a Fender Deluxe. Everything I hoped for comes out in this guitar. My band is very eclectic, so in our show I’m playing rock, blues, jazz and country sounds.... all sounding so good. I do a lot of tele style country picking and faux steel guitar stuff and it just sounds so good through a clean channel with a little verb. Frets and neck profile are perfect for me. Bridge pickup may not be Tele twangy but’s it is twangy enough for that chicken pickin’ stuff. I play a lot of acoustic guitar too, and the thin profiles just don’t feel good to me. You may want to look at the 60’s if you want a thinner neck. If you want a nice basic Les Paul at a great price, I encourage you to check this new line out. I’ve been an AMS customer for years, they’ve always taken good care of me, and this purchase made me one happy camper...

Product Review After a brief delivery snafu that customer service quickly resolved, I’ve been playing this guitar for the past 90 minutes. This is my 9th Les Paul in my brief 57 years on this earth. This is the best one yet and my first gold top. I really never thought these photographed very well. Let me tell you the photos do not do this justice. This is a much more warm and inviting guitar than the photos portray it to be. I’ve got it plugged into a 70s era Twin Reverb. This thing rocks. Absolutely love the pickups. Very sweet sounding. I’ve been a Strat guy for the past few years and am now kicking myself in the tail for not buying this sooner. Definitely going to be one of my go-to everyday. If you haven’t picked up one in a while, do yourself a favor and do so. You won’t put it down.

Product Review First off thanks goes to AMS, I’ve been a loyal customer for over 15 years now and 15 plus Guitars, 4 amps and countless other accessories later I have yet to be disappointed by you. Your payment plans make dreams obtainable. The ability to select the exact Guitar I want us so cool. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. As for my latest purchase the Gibson Les Paul 50’s Standard in Heritage Cherry Burst. WOW! The Fit Finish is perfect, PERIOD! I stared at every inch of this guitar for 30 plus minutes looking for anything out of place. I was impressed. As usual setup was spot on and after a quick tuning, the low E (all the others were in tune), I let her rip. No buzz, she just proved Gibson is back. Couldn’t be happier. 2 plus hours of playing later, I remembered I was teleworking and had to get back to work. Needless to say my work suffered, and I was back playing it again for five more hours. Gibson has figured it out with the 50’s standard series this year, if you are on the fence I say go for it. I’ve talked with multiple other owners on a social media group and the overall opinion is very favorable. I Love this guitar. Thanks again AMS for allowing me to own the guitars I dreamt of owning as a child. Without your business it couldn’t happen. I am often torn on wether I should recommend AMS or not. On the one hand I want to keep you my secret and on the other you deserve my recommendation. Just please keep that 60th Anniversary 1959 in Cherry Tea Burst serial #991792 to the side for me ;) ;) you have my account, email and address just send it my way!

I received my 50s standard today and first thing I noticed was sustain wow what sustain and I was not playing thru amp yet. I played it thru my vintage jcm800 for bout a hour and the guitar had not gone out of tune in the slightest. So after that I was going thru case candy and the day this guitar was made was my last birthday all I got left to say is this guitar was meant to be mine all 10 lb 4 oz. thank you Gibson for not building a new gen robot.

Product Review FAR MORE THAN JUST A GUITAR.. IT IS ONE GORGEOUS PIECE OF ART THAT CREATES ART. AFTER 40 YEARS OF DREAMING OF OWNING A USA MADE GIBSON LES PAUL WITH THE DIE HARD HARDWARE AND ELECTRONICS.. BINDING, FLAME MAPLE TOP WITH THOSE RIP ROARING ROCKING HUMBUCKERS OR CAN GO TO SHIMMERING SINGING TONES... MY MOUTH WATERS EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT... LOVE IT.
