A solid and (relatively) accessible Les Paul with high quality and no frills performance. This is not a museum piece, but is a reliable instrument for gigging and slinging around. The serial # is a 2020 model. I had a 2019 version with a lot of quality control issues, but this one has no flaws. The finish is very comfortable and I imagine will wear very well. The body is slimmer than a Les Paul Studio, and feels a little more comfortable. The pickups are definitely rockers, and might lack a little nuance and character in comparison to higher grade Gibsons- but they’re good all around. If you want to upgrade the electronics, that’s easy enough. Even with upgrades, you’ll probably end up spending less than a Studio and will have a far better instrument. The case is very durable, and I don’t worry about needing a hard shell.
The most important part is that this guitar feels very good to play. I find myself reaching for this one over other guitars in my collection, many of which are considerably higher tier guitars. It’s fun, solid tones, and I don’t worry about whether I’ll ding it up. That’s exactly what many hobbyist and gigging musicians want- few frills, more thrills.
Nicely done, Gibson. The bang for buck here is exactly right!

Purchased this guitar for my husband as he has wanted it many years. When it arrived he was in awe. The shipping and customer service is incredible. This Gibson is quality made with an affordable price tag. I would highly recommend to all my fellow musician friends. Craftsmanship and history is engrained in this Gibson. Surpasses my husband's expectations and then some. He plays a lot of classic rock and blues. Nothing compares.

The Les Paul Tribute is the most affordable Gibson, but it is totally gig ready. I love the maple neck, and the pickups are great in my opinion. I will probably get rid of the PC board, and put CTS pots, and orange drop caps in with '50s hand wiring, but there is no rush.

Once I open the box and examined the guitar it is in perfect condition and set up just the way I like it! Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up. In my search for a great playing Gibson Les Paul I played everything from a standard to a tribute and found that the tribute was the best of the bunch. It has no frills and is a straight ahead gig ready guitar!

Not sure if Gibson qc or what but guitar came with some minor defects. Rattling in headstock, loose input jack and some dings here and there. However, you can still get that gibson feel of a guitar, seems you're just getting over the horizon in the gibson world with this one. Not perfect, but for entry level gibson it could be worth for some.

I received this guitar from AMS and was very excited to get it. I had never owned a Gibson Electric. I've played for more than 40 years and always wanted one.
I inspected the guitar and saw immediately the poorest quality I've ever seen in a brand new guitar. The fretboard was misaligned with the neck. There was a 1/16 gap between the fretboard and the neck where the neck joins the body. The fretboard was put on crooked. Can you believe that???? OMG, I waited 40 years for this???
I sent it back to AMS. I had owned a Gibson Acoustic I ordered online a couple years before. It was inferior to other lower cost acoustics. Sold it. Got this Gibson Electric and sent it back for the worst craftsmanship I've ever seen on a guitar. I will never buy a Gibson guitar again.
I ended up buying an Epiphone Les Paul Custom. Best electric guitar I've ever owned. It's just awesome in every way! My advice is to save tons of money and go with Epiphone instead of Gibson. You are literally buying the Gibson name on the headstock when you spend a ton of money on a Gibson guitar.

I've been searching for a long time for a Les Paul that a. wouldn't bankrupt me and b. would sound great and c. would be well made. The Les Paul Tribute checks all three boxes. I've never had a Les Paul that stayed in tune overnight. Never. But this one does. Made like a tank, or a Fender. Solid and tight, unlike my 2011 Studio which started to fall to pieces as soon as I got it. The Les Paul Tribute records well clean, with a big sound that is sweet. If you are looking to get into Gibson, this is a great place to start.

I was looking for a Les Paul model, and I wanted to keep my budget within a certain price range. I considered various Epiphone Les Paul models; I believe Epiphone is making some very good guitars right now. Honestly though, I have to admit that I really wanted a Nashville-made Gibson. On some level it was important to me that it be USA made and have that heritage. This led me to check out the Gibson Studio and Tribute models. I fell in love with the tobacco burst Tribute and placed my order (I'm a sucker for the dark bursts with the contrasting cream plastics). I am happy to say it was a great decision! The feel and sound of this guitar exceed my expectations. The 490R and 490T pickups do everything that I need (this is my hobby, I don't gig) and I am happy with their sound. The workmanship is great; my guitar doesn't have any flaws I have seen. The satin nitro finish looks better than I expected and feels so nice... if I'm not playing the guitar, I'm probably at least looking at it (call it obsession if you will). If you don't need the plastic binding or a high gloss finish, I highly recommend the Gibson Les Paul Tribute models. This guitar makes me happy. Is there anything else that need be said?

I was a bit cautious at first. I had read a few saying the Les Paul tribute wasn’t a “legit” Les Paul and was a glorified wannabe. That just absolutely is not true. This thing is every bit the player that the Studio and Classic are. I actually prefer the satin nitro finish to the glossy ones. It sounds killer, doesn’t break your back in weight and I’m not nearly as paranoid as I am over carrying a $2k+ guitar around. To get a good Made in USA Gibson for this price is just awesome!

I got this guitar watching reviews on YouTube talking about how good this guitar is and it actually lives up to the hype. I got the tobacco finish and it's awesome I love the way it looks like a standard without the binding and the maple makes it so much better its crazy how well it plays I mean its not cheap big its technically the cheapest Gibson Les Paul you can get that's as good or better than the Les Paul Studio which I own as well. If you don't care about binding or other cosmetic features buy one and you won't regret it.

This is a great guitar no doubt and I’ve owned some Custom Shop Gibson guitars as well. Love the maple neck. I play metal so I swapped out the bridge pickup for something hotter but the 490T sounds really good and it would work for any style with the right amp and OD. Gig bag is also very nice and high quality. Highly recommend this guitar if you’re after a Gibson LP and don’t care about a flame top, nitro finish or binding.

I was a little skeptical for it being a "Cheap" Gibson Les Paul. I went to YouTube and did my homework. Watched a bunch of videos and reviews and got to the conclusion it was worth giving a try. Since local guitar shops here didn't have it on stock for a live test, I decided to go to my trusted/favorite online music store. The guitar came impeccable as always and it sounded great at first try.
It looks great, sounds great, plays great!!!! It had no scars, no flaws, which makes me always trust on AMS when it comes to buy online instruments. If you are in the market for a Gibson Les Paul and you are on a budget, this is the right one for you!!

My Ice Tea Les Paul Tribute oozes with that Les Paul tone! From blues to metal this guitar can do it all! Fit and Finish were perfect and guitar was triple protected in its awesome soft gig bag then a Gibson shipping box and the shipping box was in another shipping box! I'm a minimalist by nature and this Les Paul offers everything you could ever need without all the shiny stuff. Needed a good guitar for recording at home and this fits the bill perfect. The satin finish maple neck is smooth and feels great. The exposed cap edges resemble binding and honestly the satin finish is great because there's no fingerprints or smudges. I would feel comfortable playing gigs with it as well. It looks great, sounds great, and at this price if it got damaged or stolen it would be a bad day but not the end of the world. I appreciate the beauty of a Standard but if you're looking for a work horse you will be very happy with this LP!

I ordered the Les Paul tribute in honeyburst last year when I got home I realized something with a little odd about it after taking it to my guitar tech and called me and told me that it was wired incorrectly..other than that it's Awesome.. I had my check fix the issue after contacting Gibson I was told that since the issue was already fixed the warranty was invalid.. so I'm out the cost of fixing it..

The best part of this guitar was how easy it is to buy from AMS with their financing options available and the fast easy approval. The guitar itself is an excellent price of American made gear that’s a winner no matter your experience. I bought mine 7 months into my guitar learning journey, since then my teacher who’s been playing at least 20 years and a close mentor that’s been playing since the 70’s have both borrowed it and begged to buy it. If you are a looking for a flawless show piece, this is not the guitar for you. If you are looking for a solid USA made guitar to actually play, this is a great choice. Fit and finish is good, but there are a few issues that keep it from getting 5 stars.
There is a slight ledge where the fingerboard meets the neck. Additionally, my guitar exhibited some fret sprout.
Otherwise, this guitar is a player. Action was near perfect right out of the box. After a few days of string stretch, the tuning stability has been solid. The 490T and 490R pickups show great clarity and responsiveness.
This guitar pairs well with my Marshall Origin 50, DSL 20, PRS MT15, B52 AX100, and Wangs OD-30H. It is ok with my EVH 5150 iconic, but my preference is one of the other amps.

Bought a 2015 and the quality was horrible.
However after owning and loving my 2021 epiphone Les Paul's
I decided to give Gibson one last chance.
Very glad I did.
Easily the best guitar I own.
Frets are pleked and the nut is cut perfectly.
Love the pickups and the guitar responds to the slightest nuance

What we have here is a great American made Gibson Les Paul for a good price. I bought one a year ago and bought a second as a backup/different tuning for stage use. Not that the guitar requires a backup, but strings break and things happen.
The 490 pickups are great all around work horses. While I'd recommend different pickups on a per person/per style situation, these are right in my ball park and do what I want them to (goosed with an OD or boost at times). All of the electronics and hardware are fine. Same with fit/finish and the gig bag (which is also very nice).
As I said, I have two of these now. The first is a year old and has been through once a week rehearsals and twice a week gigs. The satin finish on the neck settles in nicely with a bit of playing and sweat. It gets slicker over time, shows age, and feels great. Same with the body as well. As with all satin finished guitars, it wont stay that way.
Playability on both were perfect out of the bag. No sharp frets and setup/intonation were just to my liking.
Now let's compare these Tributes to a Standard. I won't discuss the chambered body versus non nor the maple versus mahogany necks. You really won't notice the difference other than the weight. More weight does not always equal better tone. Here's the thing, I don't notice a difference in tone between the Tribute and Standard....well, not enough to justify the cost difference. I had my doubts when I ordered my first one that it could stand up to my Standard. But I dug it off the bat. To quell my doubts, I had the other guitarist in my band run it through its paces so that I could stand back and hear. That was the Les Paul tone....I was happy. As such, I ordered a second as they were in my stable to stay. Solid guitars with great tone that I will not cry about when they get dinged or messed with at a gig.
Now, the Tributes are thinner than the Standards. And of course no bling such as binding or headstock inlays. Switch washer comes in the bag should you choose to install it. But the tone and playability is what you expect from a Les Paul. I would, and have, recommended these to my friends. Great instrument at a great price.
BTW, the included case. This was an incredible surprise as I didn't know what to expect. It's a lether "type" exterior, great padding, pink fuzzy interior, LARGE front pocket, and double backpack straps. It's a VERY nice bag! Accessory kit gets you a picture of your guitar being setup, documents that you will probably not read, a few tools, and as of this posting, a nylon guitar strap. While lower in scale compared to the Standard (what with it's hard case, multi tool, and leather strap), it's still rather cool.
All in all, these are my go to guitars for stage and studio right now. I have more expensive guitars, but cost doesn't equal tone or feel.

If you're looking at this guitar, you already KNOW what it is! Straight butta' (butter) right out of the box, with just basic tuning needed. This has always been my dream guitar, and I finally pulled the trigger and got it. The tonality, everything, is beautiful. I have a Fender Champ amp, and i don't even really mess with the effects too much. The Gibson has bite and crunch that can be dialed in just as easily as those smooth jazz tones. If you're on the fence, GET OFF! Get this thing today!!!

shipping spot on ,delivered in 4 days Reno-Memphis in brutal heat . .fit , finish and hardware are beautiful . there are some fret edges that need attended to , most likely due to the dry fretboard. made in april 2021 and seems to be better quality control or i got lucky , lol ! sound is les paul sweetness , weight is about 8 lbs (guess) . .i can set my own stuff up as long as it doesnt need a valve job so i'll up date as time progresses if allowed . fret edges will be done by qualified luthier as he always does a kick ass job polishing frets when done . . . worth it in my opinion , but i do prefer gibson regardless of small issues

This Les Paul is amazing. It has all of the bells and whistles you expect in a good, solid Les Paul, but much more cost effective than other models like the Classic and Standard. Typically, at this price point you won't get much, but that is not the case here. The pickups are solid, and the detail is amazing and the sound is clean and exactly what I was looking for! AMS customer service was so helpful in choosing the specifications I was looking for, and this beauty arrived at my door in just 2 days at no extra charge! Can't beat that. :-)

Getting a good one is easy via AMS. Wouldn’t own this guitar if not for the easy payment plan! The neck is comfortable and easy to play upon. The tuning keys hold pitch and are surprisingly durable. This guitar has become my favorite. I love the satin finish, it makes it easier to play than my other Les Paul's. I really like the pickups too, they can do just about any genre but really shine for blues and classic rock (but I've played metal and country on this guitar very convincingly). The weight is nice too, not too heavy like some LP's, I would like to have another one in a different color, but I just cant justify that right now. if you are traditionally a "Fender person" this Les Paul will probably suite you better than any other as the lack of binding and the satin finish make this feel more similar to my Telecaster. its a GREAT American guitar for a very good price!!!

Great Gibson for the $$$. I love the iced tea satin finish. While some traditionalists may scoff at the maple neck it actually has a nice flame pattern that shows under the finish and plays great. Also the weight relief keeps the guitar balanced and doesn’t make your back ache. All hardware is of great quality and the soft case is way more useful than the standard Gibson hard case. If this had binding, it would be the perfect Les Paul IMHO. Did I mention that it sounds amazing as well?

I keep buying Les Pauls and then I end up getting rid of them because of the weight. This one doesn't feel as heavy as the others I've had, but it still maintains the sustain everybody loves. It felt great out of the box and for the first time in a while I didn't need to adjust anything.
I'm really annoyed that it doesn't come with the poker chip for the toggle switch. It's a $3 piece that Gibson decided to skip out on that adds character to it. I really don't like the gig bag it came with. I play in a band, and I play a lot of shows. The gig bag sells for like $140 and I'd rather have a hard case than a bag I can't sell on Craigslist. If you don't toss your gear in the back of an SUV with the rest of your band, then this shouldn't bother you one bit. Aside from the gig bag and poker chip it gets 5 stars, but I gave it 4 because now I have to go buy a case and an extra piece.

I will start saying that I’m not a professional guitar player, but i have play different brands of guitars, fender strats, ibanez, taylors, etc, and those have a very unique sound, but this is the first gibson that i play and now own, I have to say that I’m impressed when i start playing this guitar!!! very nice clean sound, very comfortable to play, the response of the dynamics is really nice, what i mean is good punchy bass, the mid range well balance and the highs not to loud or noisy, I can say that i am very satisfied of buying it, it worth every penny, thanks AMS for let me buy this guitar from you

ok I love everything about this guitar with one exception the switch. It feels sloppy and loose however it still works. The first thing you notice about this guitar is the amazing finish. Mine has a really distinctive 2 piece back with a very noticeable grain structure. this is my first "Real" Gibson and LP the neck profile is like nothing I have ever felt, the overall finish is stricking and the action and play are smooth and overall enjoyable to play. I would say I would buy again but next I think will be something a bit more upscale.

WOW ordered The tribute in Tobacco burst monday at 3:30 PM , received it tuesday at noon! amazing service and delivery time! these guys are the REAL deal (AMS) couldnt have gotten this guitar right now without them.
This guitar is absolutely stunning in person , a gorgeous les paul , it literally looks perfect. like the sleekest les paul around. No bindings really makes it look distinctly raw and beautifully unique im so in love with it i cant take my eyes off her let alone put her down.
The playability on this paul is just beautiful its hard to find a guitar that feels this right in your hands. i am a fender man myself specifically a strat nerd , and this guitar is making me fall in love with Gibson all over again! for this price , this is undoubtedly the best guirar for your buck. it is literally top notch quality so impressed with the quality , it plays exactly like a standard les paul, in fact i prefer the tribute.

I ordered a 2019 Les Paul Tribute on the payment plan at 9am Monday morning and I was playing it by 10am the next day,, I'm 65 years old and have been a luthier and Amp tech for over 40 years. Everything came on the guitar perfectly. Intonation was near perfect. Action on guitar was wonderful. The guitar itself is not even comparable to other cheaper brands. This is a quality buy. I couldn’t put the dang thing down once I got it. Everyone who sees it is impressed by the resonance and ease of play of a Gibson. The guitar also sounds great on and off the amp. The only complaint I would have is the pickups did need to be lowered to avoid contact with the strings. But anyone can fix that at the end of the day.
All and all the guitar is lighter then the average les Paul because of the holes routed out internally. It’s around the same weight as the sg from what it feels. The necks satin nitro finish feels more natural to play than gloss. Your hands feel free to fly from fret to fret. If you have not owned a Gibson les Paul this is definitely a great start for any level of playing

Very happy with this guitar. Looks great, sounds great and plays great. Gibson did a great job with these guitars. However, I wish American Musical left it factory sealed. Shipped with a picture showing it on the work bench at American Musical to prove it received a "set up" I suppose. The most HORRIBLE set up ever. First thing was to spend the afternoon correcting that. In the end it now has a great set up and I love it!

This is my second new Gibson purchase, and upon arrival I carefully inspected every inch of the guitar. Not a single flaw. I just installed my favorite strings, lowered the action a hair, and it's all set. The quality is top notch. It arrived with
an arrow straight neck, great fret work and amazing playability. I'm a fan of these 490, Alnico 2 humbuckers, they don't disappoint. I ordered mine in the Tobacco Burst and the exposed Maple cap gives the look of natural binding along the edges, it has the classic Les Paul look. It's a bit heavier than my other weight relieved Les Paul, but I prefer that, It just feels substantial. The satin finish looks and plays GREAT. I am extremely impressed with this guitar, and for half the price of a Les Paul Standard, you can't go wrong. The included soft case is also a winner. There really is a sense of pride in owning a new Gibson Les Paul that you'll never get with an Epiphone, and AMS had this to my door in 2 days. I would (and probably will) buy another one.

I already have another Gibson Les Paul and a Epiphone Les Paul Pro and this one is outstanding in every respect. Sound of the electronics are top notch, fit and finish is outstanding. Play ability is all Gibson and I was pleasantly surprised with the padded Gibson gig bag that was included. I am not a fan of gig bags, but this one has Gibson quality all the way. American Musical delivered once again!

So I had been missing a Gibson Les Paul in my guitar collection because of several reasons; quality suspicion, and people's rather mistaken experiences with Gibson in the past. I finally ordered one for Christmas and was I blown away. Mind you I didn't go for the high end les Paul, I went with their budget no bells and whistles stock Tribute version.
This guitar has been a favorite to play each and every time since December of 2019. I havnt had any de-tuning issues, the sound is great and crumchy/aggressive, the quality and finish is outstanding.
Yes, it's a Gibson, not an Epiphone, not an ESP, not a Chinese knockoff. This is the real deal. You won't find a better version. I'm glad I purchased a Gibson and now I can say it's in my collection.

I've had a few go rounds with LP's in the past but never really bonded with them. On a whim I decided to give the Tradition a shot because I loved the way it looked and it wasn't going to cost a fortune. Overall it's well built and set up pretty good out of the box. The first one I ordered I had to return because of some paint bubbling on the headstock but kudos to AMS for getting the replacement in my hands in 3 days! The neck is wide and kind of chunky to a Charvel/Jackson person but still very playable and the finish on the back is smooth and doesn't get sticky. It's a bit brighter than the other 2 LP's I owned but still sounds like a Paul. A little bit of fret sprout was the only minor ding and that's not really anyone's fault. Took 5 minutes to fix. I love the satin finish and how the maple cap still looks like binding on the sides. Really great buy for a basic Les Paul. Classic looks and classic features without all the dressing that makes them so expensive. A+ Gibson!

This is my third Les Paul. My first was purchased new in 1971, a Les Paul Standard. It was everything it was reported to be. Awesome sound paired with a Fender Super Reverb at the time. This Les Paul Tribute model is so much like the '71 model, that it's scary. Tone and sustain are tremendous, the detail, the finish and the quality are top drawer. I have long been a fan of the Tobacco Sunburst color, and it's stunning looks are quite the topic of conversation around my home when visitors come by. Awesome axe!

Purchases for my husband for christmas. His dream guitar. He has been extremely impressed. This is a light weight guitar which surprised him with the brand but he love it. The color even more so beautiful in person. The sound coming from this guitar is nothing short of considered elegant. We have had many guitars in our home through the years both cheap and expensive, but this one by far stands out. I personally love the case that came with the guitar as well. All around, very impressed with this purchase and would highly recommend!

This guitar is by far the best instrument I've ever purchased. First time I was ever able to buy a guitar that was made in the USA and I could not be happier. As a veteran and current service member I try to buy as many made in the USA products as I can. That said, this guitar has perfect action from the get go. The neck is very smooth and fast out of the box as well. No fret buzz, stays in tune, looks gorgeous. That coupled with the awesome service and fast shipping from AMS, I'm just over the moon over this guitar. And I cannot reccomend it or AMS enough to anyone who will listen.

This guitar is amazing. It has a beautiful satin finish that truly is more vibrant in person. Clean tone on the pickups, and the mahogany and maple combination gives this axe a sound that is legacy Gibson. Single mom of two who never got to play guitar much....I always wanted one of my own and thanks to AMS, now I do!

I bought this using the 18 month financing AMS was offering a while back. I have not been disappointed. As a gateway guitar into the world of more expensive axes, I feel this is top tier. The sound is beautiful, and even with distortion, you can hear individual notes and chords clear as day. The pickups are solid, the enamel work is excellent, it doesn't slip out of tune, and generally speaking, it's really a workhorse guitar worthy of being played as much as you can.

Unbelievable guitar. A truly striking resemblance to a time forgotten by guitar manufacturers. This guitar is nothing short of everything a Gibson should be and is known for. The comfort, the look, the feel, the growl, the simply iconic nature of what a Gibson is . Comfortable neck. Multi-point inspection , shipped perfectly from the factory ready to play out of the box. The gig bag is NOT a gig bag, it's a soft shell case with plush lining and a secure neck strap. Gibson has truly outdone themselves on this one and they've pretty much brought it back to the respectability and recognition the brand deserves.

This Gibson Les Paul Tribute is a work of art. It came ready to play right out of the box. It's my new go to guitar. I bought the satin honeyburst finish and it's gorgeous. It plays smooth as butter. I will treasure this guitar for the rest of my life. I've wanted one for 30+ years and I'm so happy this Tribute is my first Gibson but not my last.

This guitar is a great instrument. The feel and the weight is awesome. The neck is very comfortable and very fast. Great tone with the 490s in all three positions. Guitar showed up on the date promised and with a few minor adjustments it was ready to play and I have been using as my main choice for gigs.

Pros:
Real Les Paul, sub $2000.
I love satin finishes. The fit and finish is unreal.
Great neck, just the right amount of chunk for me.
Not to light, not to heavy.
Mine came with a photo of the guitar leaving the factory, that is kind of cool. Didn't know Gibson did that.
Cons:
I hate pick guards. Especially on a Les Paul.
The tuners leave a little to be desired. May swap with locking tuners in the future.
Prefer Zebras to covered pickups, but its a visual thing purely these pickups sound great.
Came with a strap, but it sucks.

After putting it thru a test drive this is really nice. Thru a tube amp the pickups scream as its chambered. Maple neck is smooth and thin. It’s a gigging musicians led Paul. Plain top satin finish with no bells or whistles. Nice hardware and a awesome gig bag. I got rid of a 1990,s classic and wanted a les Paul again and while this was not as pretty, it did play and sound much nicer. Great job Gibson on a affordable guitar
