Did the trick, cut with the blade at an angle, make sure it's sharp. I like placement in the lower stage left quadrant.

I usually use one of these in most of my bass drums. Definitely give it more low end boom. I Think it works better on longer bass drums then short ones, most of mine are 18 in depth. Try one for yourself.

This thing is awesome my kick drum was wide open I put this in sounds awesome it's nice Punchy articulate installation took a couple minutes I was a little nervous at first but there's plenty of videos on YouTube how to do this so I just bit the bullet did it and now my bass drum is the way I wanted to sound the shipping was fast thanks American Music Supply
