Felt like Soft Tension

Product Rating Product Review To be fair, I accidentally quoted the wrong product number when I ordered by phone. I had meant to order extra hard tension strings for my classical guitar, which would be what I’m used to for so many years. I was in the middle of stringing them up when I noticed my mistake. So I figured I’d check ‘em out, anyway, and finished stringing my guitar with them. Well, they were entirely too soft, and felt squirrelly under my fingers. Too much travel in the amplitude of the string vibrations. If I were to try to make do, I would have to totally raise the action an unacceptable amount to relieve the fret buzz. With Extra Hard Tension strings, my action on my classical can be, and is, very low, and clear as a bell, making it possible to play much faster leads and riffs, and the feel is much more definite, so my playing is much more precise. Makes me wonder why they even make anything other than Extra Hard Tension strings. So I ordered again, this time, D’Addario XTC44 XT Extra Hard Tension. Not my regular brand, which AMS doesn’t carry, but I love dealing with AMS, so I’ll see how these do, over time. I could have gotten these at a local store about 15 miles from here, for the same price, but would have had to fight traffic, burn gas, and pay sales tax. With AMS, they were delivered to my door for free, with no sales tax, so a little less expensive and a lot more convenient! Thanks, AMS!

Product Review The tone of these strings is full and beautiful and the hard tension makes them feel a lot less loose
