Just started learning piano, but I think this is a great piano to start. It is midi so must be connected to a computer but that just means in the future if I ever want to try and put a song together it will be that much easier. Weighted keys are awesome and I can’t say but I really like it xD Very thankful that I can make payments otherwise I wouldn’t be able to afford, but it’s awesome. Very thankful to American musical.

i have been playing piano for 30 years with a great deal of doubt as to if any weighted keyboard could give me the real feel i look for when i play my piano at home. the person i talked to at AMS suggested M AUDIO 88 KEY WEIGHTED KEYBOARD. with the return policy AMS has i gave it a shot well i still have it and i am very happy with it. thanks AMS

This product comes as advertised and more. It is very well made. It looks much more expensive than you have to pay for it. The action is very similar to the actual weight and feel of an acoustic piano. I was especially impressed with the software it comes with. It comes with Abelton light live and other add on sounds that are great. Whether you're looking for a midi controller for your practice room, studio, or live on stage, this is a great buy for the price!!

I’ve been progressing from entry level to now this level of keyboard and it has by all means shown me how a company like M-Audio can offer so much quality for the great price. I am a pianist that had been looking for a less compromise keyboard to play my Logic Pro x libraries and this has hit high marks for me. The only thing I am trying to understand now is the half damper comparability with peddles out there. Other than that, since I don’t need many controls like most music producers I am happy with the minimalist set up.

I grew up classical trained on piano, but I never owned an 88 key or real piano. This has changed my feel in recording in a way I’ve longed for most of my life! The touch is very close to authentic, the sleek look and design compliment my studio well and it’s everything I need in a controller.

I was hesitant about spending $500 on a midi controller. I kept looking at full keyboards with sounds, but they start getting crazy expensive especially if you want the 88 keys. I decided on the m audio hammer and I don’t regret it. It feels great, the keys aren’t too loud, and it works as intended. I’m using it mostly with logic and I’ve also used it with UAD Luna and it works perfectly. Really satisfied and glad I didn’t spend 3 grand on a Nord or something else.

This is a very well made device, you get a lot for the money, and the weighted keys are smooth and have that physical weighted response. Make sure you understand the dimensions before you order - it is taller than I expected, and will not work well for most of not all desktop drawer setups. But it is an excellent device for the price.

I purchased the M-Audio Hammer 88 Controller 7 months ago to replace a older M-Audio-Pro 88 controller that was used for over 10 years since windows XP. I started having issues due to updates in Windows 7 Pro. Since I knew that Windows 7 end of life was in 2020, I began my quest for a new Midi Controller back in 2018 that would work with my new windows 10 pro computer I was building. Many months of research and reviews led me to the M-Audio Hammer 88 because of the cost (399.00)at the time and it being a full size (88 keys) Hammer weighted keyboard. I can say that this was one of the best decisions I made. It has that great hammer weight feel and is light weight to go on the road with gigs and perfect for the studio. I have always had a weighted keyboard in the studio and it is very hard to re-adjust without one if you have played one, if you have never played with one, The M-Audio Hammer 88 will make you really express your playing and give you dynamic control and piano feel which you can adjust to your playing style, the only thing that I wish it had was the controller sliders and pan pots, but I get around this with another controller for that in the studio and by using the midi out (5 pin) to send controller changes to my DAW and Sequencer.. You will truly love the way it feels and the fact that it only weighs about 40 lbs and is not bulky. I really did not know what to expect when I received it, but I was blown away when all I had to do was just plug it in and all my DAWs (6) immediately recognized it with no configuration issues period. I have a ton of soft soft synths and an very large collection of midi hardware from drum machines, samplers and external keyboards and non of them have had any issues working with the M-Audio Hammer 88. I can say with confidence that I spend my time writing music and not trouble shooting controller issues and killing my creative process which is the most important thing I was worried about. All Host applications and external midi devices communicate exactly like they are suppose to do, keyboard expression is perfect down to the slightest touch. You cannot go wrong by choosing this product to be the center piece of your music production. The other reason I chose this product is because of American Musical Supply's payment options, If it was not for them offering flexible payment plans, I would not have half the quality gear I have right now. I have been purchasing products though them since 2000. So what are you waiting for? Purchase the M-Audio Hammer 88 and start writing great music with confidence that the device will work as advertised.

This thing is built with care. Controllers are usually flimsy but this thing is built with some weight. It’s light enough to move but heavy enough to feel pro! The actions is insanely dope! Definitely feels like I’m playing an acoustic!

I grew up playing an acoustic piano and the feeling of the weighted hammer keys are spot on. My favorite part of this keyboard is the fact it has all 88 keys! Music production is my passion and working with shorter keyboards can be a pain when it comes to transposing notes. I prefer the full range. I also recommend purchasing a sturdy stand because this piano is not lightweight and you want to make sure the stand can handle your weight as the player and the keyboard simultaneously. All in all it’s a great product and I highly recommend.

This is a great controller, specifically for those who want a piano type feel on their keyboards. The only drawback I have slightly is it's weight, very heavy. The support from M-Audio is also amazing. I had questions and they answered quickly. Never had any issues connecting to the DAW's I have. I recommend this controller especially with the influx of high quality VST's.

Introducing the M- Audiio Hammer 88
I have been a fan of AMS forever, purchased quite a bit of my gear with them. I have also used M-Audio products for years, however when I saw the 88 key weighted key controller, my heart leaped. This controller is ALL YOU NEED, with Logic, Pro Tools or a pro software sound bank such as Main Stage. This is it. As a concert artist I needed a 88 key, but weighted key board. As soon as I got it, my skills came full scale, as being used to weighted, I just couldn’t make the non weighted keys fly. THIS keyboard is easy, it’s just PLUG AND PLAY! M-Audio and AMS makes it easy, it’s the perfect addition to my studio in size, speed, and weight. If you are contemplating, don’t look any further, AMS, M-Audio is the right Choice!

It seems obvious that much effort went into keeping the price down. Therefore, you don't get a power supply in the box (it's powered by the supplied USB cord); There is no switch to power the unit on or off(ya' have to pull out the USB cord); It is not the absolute best piano action but, better than most and it's not an organ touch; And, Technical support is a bit of an obstacle course - but, it's available, maybe. Having said that. I'm enjoying the heck out of it and it does a great job. One couldn't find better for the money and I'm a pianist. Much better than the alternatives of the past. It's a keeper, especially if you have great patches - like keyscape.
