I've always loved Native instruments products; when they introduced the keyboards, I knew they'd be something special. This keyboard is intuitive and helps make my composition workflow way smoother since it's compatible with far more types of software than any other keyboard I've owned.
The design is beautiful and the weight of the keyboard is perfect--it's not bulky and heavy. For those who don't know/are learning music theory, the keyboard is color coded to highlight chord progressions.
The feel of the keys and buttons is nice, too. I know lots of people who'd prefer to invest in keyboards with built-in sounds/presets, but I prefer this one over them all. (I use this one more than my Triton.) Native Instruments has always been top tier in my book--this keyboard is a perfect fit for my studio--I hope they keep raising the bar with their keyboards!

Used with any other plugin, it's pretty conventional and unremarkable. Not bad, just not outstanding. With Native Instruments plugins, it adds some nice features for browsing and controlling instruments. Had some challenges integrating with Logic Pro, but Google works. The keyboard itself is solid and easy to play. Aftertouch is nice, if a little sensitive. I'd buy it again.

I love the Keybed, love the feel of the buttons and the way I can see my libraries on the screen!
Work flow is amazing with Logic Pro. I now spend a good 70 % looking at the piano rather then looking at the screen. The arppegiator and scale buttons are a great help and the color lights help out a lot too!!
Not forgetting to mention that complete 13 select is part of the purchase!!!

I tried everything I could to stay away from Komplete Kontrol and now I can't even remember why I did it in the first place. Wow! What an amazing keyboard controller and software package. The S61 has a good synth action keybed that just feels amazing, I was worried that the lack of knobs and sliders as compared to Arturia or even Novations flagship boards may be a hindrance and it was all for not. The Komplete Kontrol system makes it very easy to Navigate the browser and demo sounds at keyboard level. The board itself is easy to Navigate and workload with Cubase and Ableton are both very easy. Of course I upgraded from Komplete Select to the full version of Konplete and it really opens up the capabilities of the NI system. I also purchased the Maschine that adds more possibilities to this incredible system. I'm still new to this amazing keyboard and will update as I move forward.

Since I’m more than a keyboardist sometimes I enjoy taking a sound and making it my own. This board allows me to set up sound and tweak it bit and make it my own. Using my daw I can create it set up the sound and save it in my daw so when I perform I have the sound already yo go. The lights give my board a little visual so my rig doesn’t just look the same as any other performance . I love the action on this board too . The velocity is cool just by hitting the board hard or soft when it suits the vibe. I both the 66 but I should have gotten the 88 . I get compliments all the time as I’m sometimes in the position of running the entire show. Thanks American Musical.com for making this purchase happen. Gave up producing music to take care of wife parents who got cancer . When I got back into producing I was surprised at how much has changed. My peers told me that Native Instruments was the way to go . One of the things that I liked about the keyboard was that it allowed me to use it with Mashine ( a drum machine program ) . If you are going to buy the keyboard, DONT buy it from Amazon. The Amazon version is a return and you will not get the free stuff that the keyboard comes with .

I have been a NI user for many years and have always enjoyed their products. This keyboard right here brings it all together for me.
The ability to search through all my sound banks with out having to switch back to my computer is a timesaver. Now with the ability to previews sounds; makes it work flow even nicer.
The downside for me, is when using Mashine it doesn't map as well as I would like.
overall this is a great keyboard with a awesome key bed that feels great. I would say if you are looking for a keyboard to rock with NI; you can't go wrong with this one right here.

I bought this package with the Native Instruments upgrade to Komplete 12 and while I thoroughly enjoyed Komplete and all of its wonderful sounds and beats I was dismayed to find that the S61 MK II keyboard had two dead keys straight out of the box. AMS couldn’t accept it for return or exchange because it was a package deal with the software. I contacted Native Instruments hardware support and after getting a return shipping label from them returned it for repair/ replacement. That’s when the fun started. After initially telling me that a replacement would ship that week it ended up taking almost three months and several enervating exchanges with my support representative to finally get a replacement shipped out. I must say that I’m very happy with the new keyboard and everything about it works great! It’s a different world we live in these days and I appreciate the fact that they didn’t just give up when they had difficulty securing a replacement. Hats off to Native Instruments! This doesn’t have weighted keys but the keyboard is responsive and supple. I would definitely recommend this and would buy it all over again.

I purchased this controller for the purpose of working in my small production studio. It has continued to work without fail. I use it with Studio One,Logic and Native Instrument software. It has a fast synth action and it's not spongy like other controllers I've used. If you are looking for a 61 key controller this is a good one. I'm Happy with it. For starters, I got this keyboard very fast through AMS. Their service is great and the financing process went super smooth. I was able to begin producing hits in a matter of days. I've had this keyboard for over 2 months and it has made my production workflow a lot easier. It works seamlessly with features inside of Studio One and Ableton. I was looking at other keyboards like the Novation SL Mk3 but I'm extremely happy I stuck with this choice. Being able to use the main transport features in my DAW, but also being able to have easy access to the entire NI Komplete CE bundle is insane. The keys feel great and the whole keyboard feels solid. This was definitely a major upgrade to my studio setup.

I love the screen, Mod Wheel and pitch shift as well as the touch pad. It would be nice if it came with a lil bit better of a better software bundle. I have a BS in digital media production and the whole time I was getting my degree I was trained on Pro-Tools, so Its a bummer that all the options/buttons don't work or are compatible with Pro-Tools DAW. It's a very nice keyboard, I just wish I did a little more research before purchasing because the MK2 is not cheap!! Who knows...maybe I'll learn how to us Logic or something. So my advice is to Research thoroughly before purchasing to make sure you have a fully intergratable DAW for the MK@!!

For the past few years I have been heavily into softsynths and midi. I have been using an all soft synth and midi controllers rig for the last 3 years for live shows and church and it just keeps getting better. I have always heard about and have been interested in the native instruments software for some time now and I finally took the plunge and I’m so glad I did. The sounds are so authentic and you can tweak them to be whatever you want to. I am having a ball with this software Komokete Kontrol and the keyboard is so intuitive. I bought the S61 Black Limited Edition & am blown away by how beautiful, shiny but somewhat subtle the whole controller looks like. I love everything about it, and will save enough to upgrade to the whole 88 keys.
I used to be an all AKAI controller, but after Native Instruments introduces this line of the model with the LCD screens, I had to get one. I love the fact that there’s so much to do with it, it’s own DAW, endless libraries & sounds etc.

Worked great with maschine and being able to utilize the chord mode was a little wierd to figure out . same goes to the arp mode . its really awsome with native isntruments plug ins but any other vsts i did not have any macro controls accessible . i had to set every control manually . all in all it plays grerat feels great but is not very user freindsly . and trying to use this with fl20 was giving me such a hard time . mashcines daw is pretty elementary and basic and limiting in my opinion and i feel lke this controller isnt very suitable for use in any other DAW .

This controller is a perfect compliment to my Maschine MK3, as well as to logic, Reason and cubase! I love the feel of the keys, and have two large screens is great from navigating the software without needing to look at the monitor. But I can't do this review without praising the customer service team at AMS (all 1000 of you??). My original open-box purchase had an issue with one of the keys...since I live overseas, the return process through an APO address can create its own challenges. They were amazing at helping me get my package shipped, refunded for the shipping expense, and had my new keyboard to me with 2 weeks (great turnaround for a box that big). Thank you all for a great customer service experience!

Ordered the Komplete keyboard with the software package. My son is re-tracking many of the instruments on his almost complete second album! The quality of the keyboard touch is far superior to our previous keyboard - now in the trash! the nuances of the instruments, crescendoing and de-crescendoing of notes has a profoundly positive impact on the tracks and songs!! The Komplete Kontrol is a workhorse. I usually start ideas in Native Instruments Maschine software, so I expected the Kontrol to work seamlessly there along with my Maschine Studio. It does. The majority of my production work has me scouring and scrolling through multiple tracks in Logic Pro X and Pro Tools 12. Kontrol's smooth, tactile functionality in its transport section, main and 8 rotary selection knobs have been clutch during longer sessions. Over time, I’ve found myself using the controls and dual screens for quick edits and tweaking instead of looking at the computer screen and reaching for the mouse every time to access basic functions in my DAWs. I enjoy playing keys on the S61. They have just the right amount of weight and give, without fully committing to a fully weighted profile like its big brother the S88. The key lights have also been crucial. The visual cues have helped with my productivity. While the touch sensitive strip has been useful, the physical pitch bend and mod wheels are what I needed and are awesome (thank you for bringing them back Native)!
In short, my Komplete Kontrol MK2 S61 has been and continues to be my go-to keyboard and sits at the center of my workspace.

Initially the setup wasn't great or very intuitive, but after I figured it all out and got the S61 setup with Ableton it blew me away. The Komplete Kontrol S61 or any is so easy to use with the quick browsing for instruments and sounds with the sound preview is amazing. I can easy find sounds, tune them up with the oscillators and such, and with the added chord, arp, and key features finding the right sounds for a track is easy peasy. There is so much more to explore in this keyboard it definitely is not a one trick pony. I only wish it had come with the full Komplete 12 and not just the select. Don't get me wrong the Komplete Select package and the free stuff Native supplies you with is absolutely amazing and will most definitely get you started, but after several months you start craving more sounds. I will defintely be upgrading to the full Komplete 12 in the future. If you are using Ableton and pair the S61 with a Push 2, your workflow and productivity will be turned up to 11.

Komplete Kontrol, and its accompanying software are a pleasure to use! Browsing and loading sounds is so simple, as is adjusting parameters! Being totally blind, the extensive accessibility features are amazing, and I look forward to more great things to come from Native! The keys feel great as well, 61 semi-weighted with aftertouch. To set the stage, pun somewhat intended, I own or have owned a Triton, Motif, several Kurzweil and a Fantom. I have also owned M-Audio and Arturia controller’s . FYI, the Arturia and Analog Lab are great. This Controller is by far the best I have played in this category. The chassis is solid, the key bed feels incredible and navigation is effortless. Native Instruments hit a home run with the Komplete Kontrol line up. The purchase of the S61 was the best decision, well maybe buying the S88 will be as I plan on doing so. Musicians, don’t miss out on this great fit for any studio. The included software package is all useable and integration with Logic X seemed intrinsic.

After being primarily a Korg and Kurzweil player, I sold my KRONOS, my prologue, and PC2x to finally arrive at a solution that fits perfectly. I felt a bit concerned that I wasn't even plugging in the audio outputs of the Korg gear anymore, and just using them as controllers for software synths. Meet the inevitable. I am now playing the S61 MkII, and soon to be an S88 MkII as well. Because so much attention to detail was built into the keybeds, and being that KORG doesn't build aftertouch into most everything they make, this felt like a natural decision to make. There is just enough going on with knobs and the slider to be useful, but NKS is really where the energy was put into. It is a marvel to be on the board navigating through sounds, instead of loading plug-ins and managing inserts on the computer. Add in transport controls and a mixer and I'm a happy guy. Running it primarily in Logic Pro X. If you've been looking for a quality controller, this is it.

It is a beautiful, well-made keyboard with a quality keybed feel, and tight integration with Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol, but not the best choice as a standard master controller for reasons I would suggest researching prior to purchase. Use is a bit convoluted, especially compared to other USB controllers which are plug, play, and go in various apps. Interfacing through Komplete Kontrol makes the process more convoluted and less of a flow than I would prefer, especially if one works with multiple apps. For the stated purpose of working with Komplete Kontrol it does its job just as one would expect. I am not an expert on this product by any means, however, so there may be options to improve the experience which I have not yet explored.

I absolutely love this Native Instruments S61 keyboard controller. I've had it six months already. (Time flies when you're having this much fun.)It meshes right into my Maschine Studio controller and system DAW. I can get so much more playability with this than the pads alone. If I just want to compose with Komplete Kontrol stand alone, it is just the thing. I could not be happier with a keyboard controller and I've tried others. I have to mention how cool the lights are. If you compose or produce any genre of music, especially rock, hip hop or EDM, it is worth the investment and AMS made it so easy to acquire with their pay plan. Thank you AMS and Native Instruments.

NI Komplete Kontrol S61 is the best keyboard control I have ever owned. I am able to control Logic Pro X in a flash with it. I don't have to use the computer keyboard to control most of Logic's functions. You can Mute, Solo, move from track to track, etc., etc. by using the buttons and knobs of the controller. Mixing your project directly from KK S61 is a breeze! I am able to create better music because, I am not wasting time jumping from Keyboard to computer keyboard to control my DAW. All the necessary controls to work on your project are in front of you. In my opinion, this has been the best investment I have ever made for my studio!

The two full color screens really make a huge difference. I'm used to my Maschine Studio with its color screens and how easy they make browsing and changing settings. It does wonders for the workflow. The keybed is really great too. As far as semi-weighted keys go these are some of the best I've felt. The build quality on this, like anything NI, is top notch. I'd highly recommend this.

I was looking to rebuild my home project studio. After reading reviews of the MKII I decided to give it a chance. I have not been disappointed.
The creative opportunities afforded me by the integration of the S61 MKII and Komplete 11 Ultimate software far surpass my expectations. I still have a lot learn and I'm just beginning to understand the full capabilities. But I'm sure I made the right decision. I look forward to adding the Machine MKIII to further expand my productivity.

Firstly, I must say that for the studio environment my Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 takes the cake.
Two displays and large knob come in really handy when searching for the perfect patch or starting sound for creating something of your own. The ability to preview before selecting it is superb.
Integration with softsynth's is also a breeze using the "learn" mode of the soft synth. You can assign any of the eight small rotary knobs to control any synth parameters that you choose.
The semi-weighted keyboard feels great, not cheap like some; and the action is excellent. The two rotary wheels on the left are well crafted and have a very solid feel. The size of the wheels is great if you have large hands.
Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and I am thinking about the purchase of the S88.
Ok, everything has a down side. For me, since I use Sonar, the transport controls don't function. But since I didn't buy the keyboard for that, it's a moot issue.

If you are a user of any native instrument products this piece of gear is a must. I love the preview sounds and this makes my work flow 10 times faster due to not having to use the computer mouse as much. Only thing I dislike about this equipment is that to get the full usage of it you must use komplete kontrol. Another thing I dislike is that there is not a way to use nki instruments that are komplete compatible but not products of native instruments with komplete kontrol to get the full usability of this gear. It can still be used as a midi controller. I love the spin dial mixer knob versus the slide faders. I know this is taboo for most engineers but I think it works perfectly for this equipments design.

The Komplete Kontrol MKII is a great product. The keybed is amazing. Adding the display screens much like the Maschine Studio drum controller. Being able to navigate the Maschine 2.0 software right from the keyboard has a small learning curve but once the user does things a few times it is easy to remember the workflow. The only downside is if you have any issues at all, getting help from Native Instruments is very difficult. The support lines are always busy and email communication is basically limited to auto-responses that promise a response which usually end in a non-response or such a long gap between time users contact NI to having issues addressed that some will lose interest in the equipment. When I say long gaps I mean really long gaps. I had to send in my Maschine Studio for warranty covered servicing back in October. I finally received an email today telling me they will be shipping me a replacement unit which is supposed to arrive sometime next week.

The NI Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 is another step in the right direction for Native Instruments. The KK MK2 is very much like its predecessor in that once again great attention to detail was taken into account when creating the keyboard controller. Again we have a Fatar semi-weighted keybed which feels lovely and like what a "Semi-Weighted" keybed should feel like. That perfect axis point where real keys and a portion of their weight harnessed from a finely built acoustic piano meet well built yet lighter weight synthesizer keys and action. The unit itself is again sturdy and well constructed which is nothing new at all to NI consumers. The big difference however this time is that Native Instruments decided to marry the elegant and sharp display screens from their flagship Maschine Studio drum machine controller to the Komplete Kontrol MK2 series. This addition along with the playhead controls being integrated into the keyboard creates a powerhouse all in one workstation for NI users.

I gave it five stars because the quality and the things it can do are second to none. When it works. Two keyboards later and I couldn’t get it to work wit Logic x. Called Native tech support and Apple tech support. Apparently Native has not updated their drivers when the new Apple update came out. So if your Mac is all up to date, troll the chat rooms until you get the ok. Otherwise it’s a $700 usb controller. By the way the keys feel really good.
