Got this tool a few months ago. This is a versatile machine that allows one to play the songs I want to play. I still use the version with a CD; however, this one opens the door to many other songs. One important step for me was learning how to get the songs I want to play and put the in correct format that allows them to be transferred and read by the trainer. Now that I am familiar with it, it is not difficult to use. It took me a while because some of the steps of use and features differ from the previous version I am used to.

Does everything one needs...

Really like the fact that it both speeds up/slows down as well as resetting overall tuning of the file.
I purchased this as part of my guitar lesson regimen and have been very satisfied with it.
The guitar simulations are useable, but more along the lines of an old Rockman rather than anything more recent.
But it's just over $100.00, right? I couldn't be happier.

Its easy to work with, fairly user friendly. Does a great job of slowing the tempo without affecting pitch. A back light would be a glorious improvement. Only other thing would be, the ability to switch between user and storage mode without having to restart unit.

It's perfect for learning the fast paced music I play on bass. Lots of Jazz, Funk, Rock Fusion and Country.
I have a great ear but no longer read music. This is the perfect tool for me to slow songs down and gradually pick up the pace to where I need to be.

I like some of the features, but I feel it could be better. My main concern is balaceing betwwen the song and guitar volume so far. I have only had this for a couple weeks so I am leaning towards user error at this point. I have used the older models and never had a problem.

I got my GB10 a few days ago to replace my old Tascam GT1. I think it is every bit as easy to use, maybe better than my GT1. Pretty simple and intuitive, does what I need.

Seems really well made & I've encountered no issues in the several weeks I've owned it. Still on the original batteries too! I'm pretty impressed with the power consumption of this unit. No need for an ac adapter! FYI, the little 2G sd card that comes installed holds a LOT of tracks. I now have over 100 songs @ 128k mp3 quality loaded, with a lot of room for more!
Your general opinion of this product.
I've used one of their old models for cd's, & found the tracking to be a lot less reliable. This new one doesn't have that issue. Very reliable playback, & very good sound quality. As a guitar instructor, I just wish this had been around 30 years ago. The battery life has exceeded my expectations as well. The only changes I would make, would be to add a LED light to the display to make it easier to read, & better sounding effects for your guitar. Small gripes though.
As mentioned, the sound quality is really good. I'm going to be using this as a backup player to my old mp3 player for all of my future guitar clinics. Plus, I won't have to charge it up on my pc's usb for 2 hours to get it ready! Nice to have a dependable backup on hand!!
Looks nice. Professional design, & layout is really simple to use.

With no moving parts, the design is about as simple as it gets. Hopefully, it will never live to see the 'drop test', but the unit does appear to be fairly sturdy in construction.
Your general opinion of this product.
Tascam knocks it out of the park with this gizmo. Compact size, ease of operation, functionality, and portable design all come together in one simple package...AND it fits in your pocket.
Out of the box, the unit was ready to go. The operation manual was fairly thorough and explained ops very well.

It is light (could carry with you easily) with accessible controls.
Has a basic FX capacity so...
The lettering looks good...

Great Unit For Learning Favorite Lines
By: Jeff D. from Florence, OR USA

There aren't alot of other manufacturers making these, so it's hard to compare. I believe it is well made for the purpose intended.
I picked this unit over the CD trainers since there is no moving parts to wear out. I've only owned it a short time, but no problems so far. Just load up your favorite MP3's and start playing along.
Your general opinion of this product.
I think this is a well made product with just the right feature set. I wish I had one of these when I first started playing bass many years ago. It would of sure helped me learn some of my favorite bass solos a lot faster. I agree that a backlit LCD would be a nice addition, although in normal lighting conditions the LCD is easy enough to read and I suppose not having it backlit helps extend the battery life a little bit. My son is learning some of his favorite bass lines with this unit and loves being able to slow down the music without changing the pitch. Being able to record is also a nice plus. It's a little weak in the effects department, but hey as long as it does the primary job I have no major complaints.
All control buttons are logically layed out and intuitive to use.

Well now it is what it ia. Owners of the previous trainers will not be too surprised ....a few new features, more intuitive buttons , dedicated footswitch input ( if and when it becomes available) BUT THERE ARE 2 GLARING WTF'S....THE POWEROPTONS (no recharge lithium like the previous MP.....AND....HOW ON EARTH CAN A BACKLIGHT BE OVERLOOKED...i truly like the new functions but those are just frustrating "leave outs"
looks sturdy enough
Your general opinion of this product.
I was excited to get this product. Everytime there is an upgrade of the trainer i get it ( so i now own 3) The recorder is an added bonus..nice
Menu's aand buttons are a bit more intuitive
