This keyboard is a little monster, it's very light weight but will surprise you with the sound quality and variations you get especially with use of the super knob. Great keyboard, synth, and piano sounds. It is well worth the money.The package I purchased included a hardshell case which I love as well,it has wheels which makes it easy when traveling, it also has locking closures in case you have little valuables you want to be under lock and key. AMS ships everything quickly and securely and whenever I'm making any equipment purchases I look to them because I know they'll have just what I'm looking for.

I bought this a month ago to have a stand alone workstation and a controller. What I like the most about this is that it has so many features that helps me explore my creativity. I had a Beringer Deepmind before this but you couldn't really layer the sounds although you could do a lot with it in terms of the amount of sounds that it came with Built-in and you could tweak them all kinds of ways you can only have one voice working at 1 time and the polyphony was really limited this has seemingly unlimited polyphony and loads of sounds and great editing capabilities really intuitive user interface. I just love this keyboard/synthesizer. Currently using it to finish my album titled Mindscape.

I love the size and I love the weight. The sounds are as authentic as I've ever heard. Creating your own sounds is super intuitive and requires no reading of the manual. That to me is a testament excellent engineering from a UI standpoint.

I'm really pleased with this keyboard, super light and great sounds! For me the only downfall is the sequencer.Not as straight forward as previous models.Even tho I use multiple DAWS,it's always cool to be able to lay down quick reference tracks to save for later!

The MODX is an immediate joy, superb sound and it’s great on the studio or live, specially one nighters; it weights almost nothing, all the positives are: the weight and size, for transport it is awesome, the big color screen makes it a breeze to get around and navigate the different settings, the sounds are top notch. They are amazing and you can import your own samples with a USB thumb drive, I sampled some sounds from Omnisphere and have them within my live sets ( no more carrying a laptop) the keyboard also is very attractive looking all black almost with an attitude. And... it functions as a Audio Interface using the inputs and a USB cable. Pair it with Cubasis for the iPad and you’ll be in studio writing heaven.
The negatives: NONE!
Well... I should mention that if your not familiar with Yamaha keyboards it may be a bit confusing however, there are plenty of videos online showing what to do and you will be running in no time also, the new update added a sequencer that is a bit confusing to use but again once you watch a video of how; you’ll say “Duh!!!”
I would recommend pairing it with an iPad and Cubasis this way it will be very intuitive. And you’ll have the bigger screen.
You can also import all the sound library from the motif and Mo XF which is a plus
You can a lot with this keyboard; specially paired with Cubasis and if your just going keyboard instrumental than you are set with the new sequencer yamaha added with the latest update.

The sounds and the light weight is fantastic. I was so excited when it arrived. The arrival time was quick with no damage. I plan on buying the bigger one now. I played it at music store, and the feel was great. Never had a keyboard with such great drum sounds WOW I mean WOW.
Yamaha sounds a premiere and I cant wait to order the bigger version.

I originally bought a Kurzweil PC3k which turned out to be a true professional keyboard players keyboard. I sent it right back. then I saw this keyboard being advertised and watched some youtube vids on it. I got to admit, this keyboard kicks the Kurzweil to the curb. Easy to use. You can setup one patch to have multiple parts keeping you from having to change patches when playing a song that has several different sounds.
The sounds are great, crisp and it also has a 1 gig hard drive to have your own sounds and wav files accessible.
Great deal.... Def check this keyboard out.

Yahama has truly hit the nail on the head with this one. They have taken the phenomenal sound from the motif and montage and packaged in a light weight and affordable keyboard. Not only that, the book bag carrying case that you can buy makes travel so easy to gigs. This by far has been my greatest keyboard purchase.

I recently upgraded to this keyboard from the MOX6 and although losing the pattern sequencer kind of hit me hard (as that was how I produced my tracks) this board sounds and feels amazing. With the screen it is so much easier to set up live sets and have all the sounds you need onscreen in view rather than having to press other buttons to navigate around. The keyboard sounds are nice and the guitar sounds sound so real! Also the synths are amazing! I am primarily a sax player so I am limited on my keyboard stats and I generally use it a church to play guitar parts, synths and prophetic flow backing on keys. I have had this board for about a month and a half now. The only thing I miss is having the onboard sequencer but it really is a great buy!

I purchased this Yamaha MODX after careful review and chose it because of what I needed on stage, as far as feature content, real-time controls and quality of sound. Let me tell you, it Delivered!! Amazing sounds right out of the box, easy customization, and the Live Set list with multiple scenes in each performance made my first gig with it a breeze! It’s super light also! I've been playing it daily for about two months, now I'm done testing. I'd return it, if I could, but it's too late, so it's gonna end up on ebay.
Frankly, the sound is outstanding. But usability is zero.
There's no concept, whatsoever. Yamaha says it's a performance synthesizer. Yes, you could perform to your girlfriend or to your neighbors showing of the flashy (cheesy) superknob and how smoothly an acoustic piano dissolves into an (otherwise beautiful) FM EP, right? Or a senseless over-ringmodulated SFX into a playable chime.
So what?
What good does all this amazing synth power do when the sluggish TUI takes 3 touches before the screen changes? When you have 8 synced Arpeggiators, but selecting a new arp takes switching screens 2 more times, and even then, the selected new drum arp drives an improper drum set, so everything sounds silly? And when there's a "performance recorder" but without even one single tool to correct the recorded stuff? Turning off instead of inspiring?

I love the Pianos and Strings on this Keyboard, The sound is amazing!!
I am a touring musician and this board is among one of my new keyboards.
I perform in a Prince Tribute Act, and
I love playing the pianos and strings from this board. The other keyboard player in our group bought the Montage and I purchased The Modx. We can hear a big difference and band members can hear it
when we play songs with heavy string lines and heavy piano, very REAL sounding strings and pianos.

Ok, I have been quietly stalking the Montage since it came out. I was so excited until I saw the daunting price tag! Aaaah!!! Then one of my friends told me about the MODX and I had to go see and play it. This thing is amazing!! It is cousin to the Montage for half the price! I am elated because I need a workstation and it’s range is limitless. I look forward to creating loads of great compositions! I would have purchased the MODX8, but went with the MODX6 and an additional piano keyboard for less than the cost of the MODX6.

This Board is Awesome, I played my friends MoDX on a gig and it’s the “Bomb” Slick pianos , fat brass , silky Strings and pads all the sounds is great , so I just bought one myself
