This keyboard has the same sounds as its 88 key counterpart and full sized keys to match. Along with the great sounds it's very lightweight (8lbs). I also bought a backpack style keyboard bag, so it's easy to Carry around. I would recommend this keyboard to anyone, from beginner to professional.
And thanks to American Musical for their very affordable payment plan.

I'm a producer, who like many, has a home studio set-up. After years of working exclusively in the box, I was getting tired of relying on softsynths. After doing lots of research, looking for something that would replace my Kontakt library, I came upon this unit. This Keyboard has made my workflow so much faster. It connects directly to my desktop, and works as both a synth and a midi controller. The onboard sounds are great. It has layering capabilities, and enough controls to manipulate sounds and make them your own. I really love this mini-workhorse, and I would recommend this unit to anyone who makes music on a computer.

I bought this keyboard because I have always been a fan of Scott Storch and the Yamaha Motif keyboard. When I seen this one for the price I couldn't pass it up and with the AMS payment plan I was able to complete my studio collection of owning real motif sounds. Lo boy bass is one of my favorite patches and is the first I have used in my productions. The one I own is the 49 key and it is very powerful and portable. It's perfect for the musician or producer that wants to travel with their laptop and keyboard to make music anywhere.

We just got our MX49 a couple of weeks ago and are so far very pleased with it. What would have given this keyboard a 5th star rating would have been preset/memory buttons for saved sounds (maybe next model Yamaha). Other than that it is an excellent, lightweight keyboard packed with amazing, high quality Yamaha sounds and a number of cool functions including sequencing capabilities. We needed a compact keyboard to travel with that had a good array of sounds and arrangement capabilities. The MX49 was a great choice and we are glad we chose it. The cool blue color was a bonus and really makes it stand out. The Yamaha MX series is awesome and the compactness of the MX49 has suited our needs to a tee. Thanks AMS, we are very happy with this product.

I am bit of purist...just a bit. I like to actually perform all my tracks as much as I can but still want midi to create that which I cannot. This keyboard allows me do do it. Yamaha is also a great name in keyboards. I have used this for piano, string and horn arrangements and I am very pleased with the results. Then there's the price and AMS no interest payment plan, sold!

Having used a previous Yamaha CS1X I was eager to get an updated keyboard at the right price. Minutes after turning it on and putting the headphones on I was blown away at the sound quality and the ease of use. I spend hours and hours with it in the first week just getting lost in all the sounds. Now a month after owning it, it has become one of my favorite pieces of gear. It has a huge library of sounds, easy to use controls and its compact and comfortable to play. It sounds amazing in recordings and makes it easy to write on with all the sound options. This is a killer keyboard at the price.

I use my MX49 in my live MainStage rig, along with a Nectar Impakt 88+ controller. I use the MX as a sound source for some songs, but I REALLY love the USB audio interface. Everything runs through it, and it sounds great. Highly recommended!

I liked this synth and YAMAHA products until I went to Yamaha with a question regarding my classic DX7s which first came with limited documentation in the first place.
Don't get me wrong. They included a lot of information in the manual. But bottom line I needed a question answered and the closing line of the reply from YAMAHA was, 'there's nothing we can do about that here." For the record I asked Yamaha tech support if a software driver was needed in order to make the breath controller work.
I am really dissatisfied that I got an obviously un-researched answer that clearly absolutely no effort was made on their part to provide an answer. This was completely unacceptable to me. I have some YAMAHA gear but I have purchased my last pieceof YAMAHA gear.
I hope if you have an issue you get better results than I did. Maybe they don't pay their reps well enough that they are not so inclined to want to help. I could have approached a stranger on the street and they would have just repeated what I included in my question to them and then for the message to close AFTER waiting two days for a response, "...there's nothing we can do about that here."
I challenge YAMAHA to defend their reps position by referring to my question with a he said; she said blah; blah blah and it will only reinforce the fact that they didn'tbother to give my question much thought or consideration.
Last time I buy YAMAHA. BOO! As for the MX49; I liked it more before I needed help with one of their older products. This will be older one day too and some people actually put a value on their gear regardless of price. One last time from me BOO YAMAHA!!! BOO. Boo, They stink.

Well laid out and easy to use, though still have to learn more about its features. Tone buttons identify groups of instruments, and each button has many presets to choose from, and you can tweak those presets if you're not totally pleased with them. Looking forward to doing some multitrack recording of my favorite classical music pieces.

I have used Yamaha synths for yeas including the DX7. This synth has all you will ever need in a work station in including remote integration with Cubase AI. with a 100 voices form the famous Motiff series.
also 16 16 track sequencer and 128 not poly. you also have100 drum sets you will have fun with.

I needed a synth for bread and butter sounds. The MX49 has great bass, brass and string sounds that are useful in live and studio settings. A lot of the preset patterns are usable and versatile too. For my purposes, this synth is a perfect fit.

This was my first time purchasing musical equipment online. I work in Technical Support and even I was cautious. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible selection of musical equipment and how easy the process was for purchasing items. Warranty Included!! Sweet! I literally ordered the items in my driveway on lunch and the keyboards I bought were sitting on my doorstep the following morning. Everyone in my family was shocked. How cool is that? I was in the market for purchasing something that was lightweight but still packed all of the sounds I was looking for. The Yamaha MX49 gave me everything I was looking and then some! The sounds are amazing and it is extremely lightweight for lugging around to gigs! I recommend this board to anyone that's not looking to spend a lot of money but still get a good quality product! #ThumbsUpAMS You guys ROCK!!!!

I was looking for something portable without sacrificing quality and having lug around anything awkward in size and weight. Great sound quality, easy to use, plenty of features and ways to manipulate the 1000 sounds. Touch sensitive with pull off simulation. My only regret is not getting the mx69 for live performances, but the 49 key is perfect for recording. I can make full productions easily with great detail.
