DiMarzio DP138 Virtual Acoustic Pickup For Acoustic Guitar

The Virtual Acoustic uses the same technology as the Virtual Vintage line to create a pickup that's practically noise-free, even in comparison to humbuckers. The sound is very accurate, reproducing the natural dynamics and tonality of an acoustic instrument and enabling the Virtual Acoustic to capture the character of the particular guitar its mounted in. It installs easily in any round-hole steel string guitar. Its also got a volume control with a compensated tone network to minimize tone changes when the volume is adjusted. Supplied with a 12 foot cable.

Tech Talk:
When you plug the Virtual Acoustic into an amp with all the tone controls set flat, the sound is very even, but adjusting the controls, particularly on a good acoustic amp gets dramatic results. Highs sizzle, lows open up. If you're going to combine it with a piezo bridge pickup, we recommend using a phase-switch equipped preamp or mixer to achieve correct phase relationship and separation.

Subject:The DiMarzio DP138 is a superb sounding acoustic guitar pickup
Quality: It's a very well made product. Very solid and superbly designed
Reliability: So far, it's been very reliable. The slide volume control also works great and absolutely no hum or noise from this pickup.
Overall: I really do like it a lot. It does have superb sound and it's constructed very well.
Playability and Feel: It's very easy to install. The volumn slide control is very easy to get to.
Tone: This pickup has superb tone. It gets all of the beautiful depth and brillant lows and highs from a Martin D-35. The lows, mids and highs are really great off of this pickup. It projects a superbly balance sound and a very full sound as well. The highs seem to sparkle.
Finish: The finish on the pickup look great and so does the DiMarzio logo.
Action: Again, it's very easy to install this DiMarzio pickup in an acoustic guitar and use. It took me about 4 minutes to install it and that's because I read the instruction sheet that came with it before I installed it. It only takes about a minute to install and plug in to an acoustic amplifier. It's very simple to install.

Subject:The Hype Is All True!
Quality: Well-designed and well-made.
Reliability: With as 5-year warranty I'm sure dependability won't be an issue.
Overall: DiMarzio’s claim that this passive pickup compares favorably to a humbucking acoustic pickup is right on the money. It’s maybe even quieter than a humbucker I also own and use. VERY pleased with this pickup!
Playability and Feel: The volume control functions well, though I wish it had been on the bass side as a matter of personal preference.
Tone: Their claim that the sound is very accurate, enabling the it to capture the character of the particular guitar its mounted in is also true. I tested it on my Martin HD-28, 00-18V and D12-18, as well as a custom hand-made Bil Mitchell parlor model. The pickup makes each guitar sound like it is supposed to. I noticed on my D12-18 that the bass E strings had less sensitivity, but that could have been the way I had the DP-138 positioned. If not, no biggie because the poles for each string are adjustable.
Finish: Looks nice with the DiMarzio logo
Action: It’s easy to install in the soundhole and removes quickly if you want to switch between guitars.
