The Moog Grandmother is the best modern monosynth I have tried, it emulates the lush flavour of Model D for a fifth of the price. The oscillators sound great, especially for creating bass tones, and the patching potential allows for some great synths I am not personally capable of creating. I find the filter a particularly standout feature, it uses a 4 pole filter to achieve a particularly smooth 24db low pass filter. Highly recommend.

This beast of a machine blew my mind a way. The heavy sounds that you can personally design is almost un real. It's super cool, one of my favorite devices ever!! You will not regret this purchase! It's worth everything plus more. The oscillators are super sick! Also I really enjoy the modulations, filters, and the glide. This synthesizer definitely gives me more of an edge and adds originally to my production!

Excellent product. Although my Moog came with a malfunction (one key doesn't work) I love it so much I didn't return it as I couldn't part with it. I'm now going to Purchase the Moog Matriach to add to this ultimately starting my Moog collection. Thank you AMS!

If you are into creating sound, this product is the one you need! I didn't feel like a musician until I got this moog! My fiance doesn't even play music and she sat on this thing for about a hour.lol. I was in shock to find out just by twisting a knob and adjusting wires you could make soo many different sounds! Thank you

I've wanted a synth as long as I can remember, and moog was always in the back of my mind, now thx to AMS- I own one-!! Now I've got what I need to further my music adventure further along, not ever knowing how to operate one, with moog they make it, well easy-!! I own the Sub 25 and decided to grab this as well. They both vibe very well together. The grandmother is great for exploring new sounds and is a great learning tool for synthesis. I bought color patch cables to go along with the colors of grandmother. The ones that come with are great, but a little boring being grey. It’s very inspiring and rewarding when you come up with a cool sound. The spring reverb is great, but can be too much of pushed to the max. I also run her through pedals such as the Roland space echo and eventide space reverb; amazing results. The grandmother can be intimidating at first, but well rewarding in the end. Great Synth!

To start with, When this Moog Grandmother arrived I spent 11 straight hours.I just could not stop exploring all the great sound I could make.Just love all the features it has,Analog effects and the Modulation along with many more effects and sound. Just have to say GREAT Fun Product

Amazing! very very versatile! The integrated patch bay and easy to understand color coated layout makes this an instruments friendly to beginners and a dive right in to those that know, but an absolute blast for both. Of course you have that classic analog moog sound. Not as high end as a Moog One or as dark and industrial as a subphatty but nothing a couple of pedals can change. This instruments strong points such as versatility, well thought out layout and patch bays make this synth a steal at this price range. CANT GO WRONG.

I absolutely love this synth! I’ve always wanted a Moog and the Grandmother definitely delivers! It looks great and sounds even better!
This thing is big. It’s heavy and substantial and just feels like a real instrument. I get lost for hours playing and patching it. Endless experimentation and the sounds that come out are just amazing!
I can’t recommend it enough!

The Moog Grandmother is an amazing Price of hardware and simple to use. It allows the user to experiment and explore the analog world both in a user friendly manner as well as in a more complex form. It gives the option of using two oscillators, add noise and create arpeggios and glide through, but wait there’s more... you gotta experience the spring reverb and you can filter an external source through this magnificent analog synth. The price is right and your sounds are pro-production ready out of the box.

INCREDIBLE. Seriously the most worthwhile purchase I have made in years. I've only had it two weeks and the amount of hours I've spent just jamming away is near obscene lol.
Having very little prior knowledge of modular synths, I am immediately struck by the simplicity of the patch system, yet it provides near endless possibilities for manipulation of sounds. While you can ignore the modular functions and just jam away, patching makes for a more gratifying experience, as I feel I am now the creator of something. Its a very different feeling from punching through a bank of presets and hoping for something exciting.
The unit itself is built well and feels tough/sturdy. the knobs are smooth and reliable, though I do wish they were marked a little clearer so I don't have to peer closer to catch where the dot is centered. The patch cables included work wonderfully, though I wish they included a couple that were slightly longer.
The sound is gorgeous and the spring reverb is beautiful. It's got that special something that analog gear is known for. The sequencer is easy enough after a little practice and the drone function is really fun. I have it clocking BPM from my Korg Electribe Emx-1 and the sync works like a charm. Paired with my new tape echo pedal I'm getting some really unique sounds that I would have spent hours searching for or trying to create in a daw.
I am so happy I made this purchase and will definitely have a hard time not buying more Moog gear very soon.

The Moog Grandmother follows a great dynasty of synths. It's fat, warm sound instantly puts a grin on anyones face, just from playing a single key. Your options are great, without the use of patching, but patching allows for an even bigger expression of sound. I had no issues putting down thick bass lines, and soaring leads in a matter of seconds by just a couple adjustments. I rarely need to make any adjustments in my DAW to make it fit the parts I need it to. It gets the job done, and it's done well. Highly recommend for anyone looking to step up their synth game.

Not only is it a reinterpretation of classic Moog, with the classic Moog filter. It is also an awesome introduction to modular synthesis. Everything is routed to work out of the box as a classic synthesizer. So when you get it out of the box it’s ready to go, and when you get to a point of understanding the way the synthesizer works, you get to take advantage of the beautiful modular world. 10/10, I LOVE IT. The build quality is quite good, regardless of the 'radio shack' look of the instrument. While in some respects not their most versatile synthesizers but it has a unique character all it's own. The modular aspects really open up the possibilities. The absence of a menu makes programming a breeze, but there are some 'hidden' features accessed from the front panel. What is not obvious is how much fun this instrument is. It's a blast.

I had a Moog Prodigy long ago and was interested in this Grandmother to recapture that sound. Also it's reasonably priced compared to other models in the contemporary Moog lineup. I'm not too bright when it comes to synth programming and found it difficult to get good tones just by tweaking. The patch cord plug-ins give you lots of choice about signal routing,but I'm still working on it and finding the learning curve pretty steep. Thinking this is a Cadillac synth when all I need is a Chevy. For lots less money, I'm happy with my Korg Monologue, which is easy to get many different good sounds with.

When you can sit in front of a synth for hours on end, you know right away that it's something special! Classic Moog technology without breaking the bank. The sound and build quality is just Moog through and through. The keybed has a great quality feel to it, the knobs are smooth and solid, and the switches have a pleasing snap to them. This thing will last for a long time. As far as the sound, it's what you expect from a moog but still stand unique to the current and classic offerings. The CP 3 mixer will add lush drive to the signal while the low pass filter offers that solid brassy sweep we have all come to love. With the added semi-modular jacks, it becomes an analog chameleon allowing complete routing control from oscillator to VCA. Even though the color scheme is a little tacky for some, it does provide a benefit to identifying each section which helps in low light conditions. Even the most picky will come to appreciate the layout for what it provides.

When I first took this beast out of the box, the first thing that struck me was just how incredibly well built it was. It has a certain heft in the hands that just screams quality. As you begin to tinker and noodle around you will also notice, as did i, how good the keybed feels. Ive never played on one quite as fluid as the grandmothers. its semi weighted but it almost feels better than a real piano. And the sound! If youre a Moog fan youll be familiar with the grandmothers classic sound, screaming leads and fat, growling basses, it does both well as well as many things in between. Because of the grandmothers semi modular nature you can experient for days and still find new things. not only that but you can also integrate outside gear with it which just inrcreases its life infinitely. I would defiitely recommend this product and if youre going to buy it American Musical supply is definitely the way to go. Best customer service ever.

Blown Away! As always Moog's build quality and packaging were perfect. After letting it warm up for 25 minutes, the patches I created had the warmth, heft, and harmonics that justified my purchase. Sounds totally different than my Subsequent 37; despite it being possibly brighter, it sounds vintage. A Moog synth with this tone and patch capability is a steal.
I take pictures with my phone to save an image of the patch created, there are no presets or saving of course.
All in all, absolutely recommended!

Truley a beautiful sounding synth in my opinion. I’m still a beginner when it comes to modular, so the Grandmother is a nice learning bridge to that world. Love the sounds I’m making and all my patches sound great through the spring reverb. The Grandmother is a perfect mix of great sound, good learning tool and sharp looks. I have owned three Moogs in my life: a Minimoog back in the 1970's, and now the Mother-32 and the Grandmother. The Grandmother lives in a transitory state between big Moog Modulars and smaller synths like the Sub Phatty, only the Grandmother has the biggest sound I've ever heard. Rich, fat, and classic Moog. That alone is worth the price, one-tenth of the cost of a System 15. The patching is wonderful, allow all sorts of connections between modules and between other synths. With a built-in sequencer and reverb, this unit shines and reeks with authenticity that other neo-analog units can't match. Easy to program, easy to use, and fun to look at and play with, the Moog Grandmother is easily the best synth I've ever owned.

Moog has done it again!!! This is a very solid synth and will be an introduction to the cv/modular world for those who were strictly keyboardists. I like the versatility and patch points of The Grandmother. This unit sounds phenomenal and definitely holds its own against my other synth, the legendary Moog Voyager. In my opinion, it has a cleaner deeper analogue sound than the Voyager and honestly it shouldn’t be compared to other Moogs. My only con is I’d like to see Moog create an editor for it to save patches. The build is solid and after receiving it, you’ll warm up to it’s psychedelic colors. It looks great in my setup and sounds like no other synth.

It really is nice to finally own a Moog device. I have looked at them from a figurative window for decades. The semi-modular portion is a wonderful introduction to the modular rabbit hole. This thing is a ton of fun. The on board spring reverb really makes it special too. The slide feels a little loose in the fingers(designed that way I suppose), a couple of the white switches feel less that extravagant, but the knobs, buttons, and keys feel very solid in the fingers.
