This synth is amazing; the built-in delay, by itself, is worth the purchase—as it’s on par with the moogerfooger delay pedal that’s been discontinued.
But it doesn’t stop there: the semi-modular connections allow for endless avenues of experimentation between the matriarchs oscillators, filters, delay, keyboard, etc.. and if you own any other modular gear, she can link up with them too!
I own a Mother 32 and a DFAM and I love to jam with these three all the time.
Don’t hesitate—GET THIS.

The moog matriarch is a top shelf analog synth from a company who knows what they’re doing. The paraphonic aspect doesn’t bother me much as I typically use it for bass/leads. Some behavior typical of paraphonic synths might leave some users frustrated but I think most complaints can be quelled enough by changing around some settings. This is the first moog I’ve ever purchased and I’ve been very pleased with it.
Aside from the synth, the payment options made available by AMS are the best out there for musical instruments. I’ve never had an issue with an order and it’s allowed me to obtain nice high quality instruments. Thanks!!

This is my favorite synthesizer in its price range, there is so much you can do with it, keys feel great, delay sounds amazing. I love everything about it highly recommend. Add a Moog Dfam or 2 and the possibilities are endless, keep up the good work Moog!!

Analog 4 Oscillator Stereo Filter Analog Delay Paraphonic Synth. A rare combo to find on the market. Well priced given the added arpeggiator and sequencer, plus the modular expandability will take this synth a long way in your studio. Very fun and inspiring to play. Unlike anything else in my studio. Quite a unique instrument. Broad take of capabilities on the analog sound, a sound editors dream. A must have IMO. Sits very well with my Nordlead 4, Virus Ti2, Sub37, Peak, and Drum Impact.

Just got the Dark Matriarch - looks like, and is a beast! Classic Moog voicing, multi-filters, oscillators, build and quality. Moog has always been the future of music and the real deal. Monster sound engineering machine!
Wanted a Matriarch for years and the Dark Mode sealed the deal. More than a gateway into modular synthesis, opening up a new universe of sound design. Old school synthesis has never been so good! Stereo(!), four oscillators, filter options, analog effects, 4 note paraphonic options, modulation options, solid key bed, knobs, buttons, switches - a pro machine! The Matriarch prompts you to rethink how you want a sound to be heard. Totally blown away!

Over the years I’ve owned many Moog synths, from the Voyager to the Little/Sub Phatty up to the Mother-32 and I gotta say the Matriarch may be their best synth yet. If you’re a beginner, everything is laid out wonderfully for you to learn the basics of synthesis from the oscillators out to the VCAs. If you’re more experienced, this machine can truly go as deep as you’re willing to take it. From fat bass, to soaring leads, to sci-fi effects and beyond. This is hands down the best semi modular synth on the market. If you have a eurorack setup, this here is your cockpit to the the universe of sound. Also on a side note, I’ve heard some complain about the color scheme of the Matriarch and Moog have listened. They recently released a classic all black version in honor of their original modular designs. I gotta say it looks incredible. So if you’ve been contemplating purchasing one, I say go for it. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I’m very new to synthesizers, and the Matriarch is the right challenge. Absolutely stunning visually. There is so much to do and ways to control the sound and patch options. So much fun to play and learn about. Highly recommend to improve your quality of life

Truly an excellent synth for beginners and pros alike! An opportunity for exploration and discovery every time you turn it on. The paraphony takes a little getting used to but this machine is capable of creating some of the most interesting sounds I've ever gotten out of a synth. Highly recommend!

As a professional recording engineer, producer, and studio owner, I use synths quite a bit in arranging and productions of all types of music. Over the last few decades I've been using soft-synths with a keyboard controller. This year I've decided to do something different and have invested in a brand new Roland Fantom 6 which covers so many bases and is an excellent synthesizer. But I wanted something to compliment it that was fully analogue and completely different.
As usual, I did a ton of research on manufacturer sites, product reviews from owners, and lots of YouTube videos. I kept coming back to the Moog Matriarch. So I bought one and now I'm totally in love with creating synthesized electronic music.
I'm a guitarist, not a very good keyboardist. But with an instrument like this, you don't really need good piano chops. It totally satisfies the Creative. It definitely satisfies the Intellectual. But it does not require the Physical aspect of playing a typical musical instrument.
Whereas I'm sure the Matriarch will make its way to recordings, poly-synths such as the Fantom would be a far better choice for production or in a live band scenario. To me, the Matriarch is about the joy of creative sonic and musical exploration.
There are many reviews out there but quickly, the Matriarch feels and sounds like the high quality instrument you'd expect from Moog. Every knob, fader, button, and switch feels top quality. And, it looks great too. In a room full of synthesizers, you'd easily be able to pick out a Matriarch (or Grandmother).
I highly recommend this instrument. I also highly recommend American Musical Supply for their excellent service, quick delivery and exceptional purchasing options. I've been doing business with them for years.

Four note paraphony. Stereo filter, stereo delay, sequencer, arpeggiator, and four-count them- four Moog oscillators, each syncable with each other. Not to mention all the patch points. These are just a few of the incredible and useful features of this synth. Well worth owning for music, education, or just to sit them and play the chords previously available to owners of the Apollo, the Polymoog and the Memorymoog, all way out of most people's price range. I love using and playing this Moog, and I can highly recommend it to all those who are looking for knobs instead of presets.

This thing is incredible, even without patching anything it gives you anything from fat, detuned Moog bass to dreamy ambient pads. The real fun starts when you incorporate Eurorack modules though, I have a small Make Noise system and together, they provide nearly limitless experimental opportunities! This synth is definitely worth the cost, whether you choose to supplement it with Eurorack or not.

The moog matriarch is everything you could want in a polyphonic synth. All the classic analogue voices you can imagine are possible with this thing. The only drawback is the lack of digital interface, so you have to photograph your settings in order to recreate a sound. Not a huge deal if you know that going in, plus having to recreate voicings forces you to really understand the machine.

10/10. Sounds amazing. From soothing swirls to crunchy clicks. There are countless combinations and mixtures of sounds that I don't think I'll ever be able to explore all of them. I love this thing lol.
