ART Tube MP Studio V3 Microphone Preamp and Limiter with Presets

The ART Tube MP Studio V3 has expert presets that get you started right!
The Tube MP Studio V3 features ART's Variable Valve Voicing Technology - with optimized reference points to begin the recording process. The V3's presets were created & fine-tuned by top studio and live-sound engineers, along with ART's veteran engineering department.

V3 allows you to select between a multitude of preamp settings designed for electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, bass guitars, drums, vocals and more. V3 gives you incredible presets for every instrument you record, so all your recordings will sound professional. Need to tweak the presets? Go right ahead -- hone your perfect tone! That's the power of ART V3.

It also incorporates ART's OPL™ (Output Protection Limiter), which precisely and accurately controls and maintains the output peak signal. The OPL circuitry is crucial in protecting the next link in a signal chain - such as a hard-disk recording system or a sound card.

The Tube MP Studio V3 can also function as a direct box - impedance matching, amplifying and improving the sound of any instrument.

The design of the Tube MP Studio V3 allows it to add warmth and fatness to a signal while maintaining low-noise. Features include Phase Reverse, +48v phantom power, clip LED, a +20dB switch, as well as an analog VU meter for visual tracking of the signal. 1-year warranty.

Overall:

QUALITY:
It is very well built.

FEATURES:
The multi-voicing dial is excellent. It adds great versatility. The unit would be even better if it had a power on/off switch.

EASE OF USE:
It is very easy to use. In fact, it can be used in unison with daisy-chained pedals and with digital special effect processors. If placed at the back end of a pedal chain or a processor, it adds great tube warmth to a guitar tone. Not to mention that it does great things with vocals too.

VALUE:
Yes, it has an excellent cost/benefit ratio.

SOUND:
It adds tube warmth (literally, it has a tube) to any tone.

STYLE:
rock/folk-rock

MUSIC EXPERIENCE:
30 years

OVERALL:
It is an excellent addition to virtually any set-up. I bought it to use with vocals, but I found that it works great with both acoustic guitar and electric guitar.

Subject:Good unit, but a little pricey...
Overall: Overall, I've been pleased with this piece of gear. If you're wanting to do some recording, but don't want to buy a mixing board, it will work well for you. It's got some nice features, but if you're buying it for the built-in limiting (Output Protection Limiting), you may want to reconsider. Unless you're driving it way beyond any kind of realistic level, the OPL never kicks in. I bought it hoping that I could plug it directly into my computer without having to hook up my Behringer Composer Pro to keep the vocals under control, but I still have to use the Composer with it. The Voicing selections give you some slightly different tone shaping for different instruments & vocals, which is nice. It's built really solid, as is all of ART's products, and I've had good experience dealing with them in the past. I had an EQ that stopped working, and they fixed it right away with no hassle. The Studio V3 works really well live as a direct box or a mic preamp, as well. I must admit, thoug

Overall:

QUALITY:
Sometimes the light on the vu meter flickers, but this doesn't affect the sound.

FEATURES:
I like the "variable valve voicing" feature. I use this as a guitar preamp for acoustics and electrics, and some guitars sound better at different settings.

EASE OF USE:
Turn the dial until you find something you like. What could be easier?

VALUE:
I have several "modeling" processors. They all cost way more than this, and none of them gives a better clean sound than this.

SOUND:
This pre can color the sound very heavily at some settings. That's what I like about it, but your preference may vary.

This is a very nice unit to use as a guitar preamp. (I've never tried it with a mic.) It takes some of that brittle edge off of piezo acoustic pickups, and with a nice reverb you can some get gre
