Overall Rating
awesome gtr.
What is your overall opinion of this product?
i applaud epiphone for these reissues,im not a collector per se but these are aesthetically spot on and for the money a lotta guitar and i hear that they should appreciate in value, time will tell.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
i use it mostly for jazz gigs and rehearsals, but i`ve only had her for a few weeks and so far we are getting along just fine.again i salute epi for the quality of the tuners, pots and pu`s.i was able to set it up myself and it plays and sounds great and it will stay in tune despite heavy handedness.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
the neck feels good on mine, it`s a medium to large c-shape and love the width of the fret board,,chords are easy to play and the controls are a breeze to deal with.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
the tone on mine is a bit dark,,but see i like that and i might add that the bridge pu has a real nice bite to it when u crank it a bit,the pu`s on mine are approx. 6.86 for the neck and 6.80 for the bridge pu just right for mini-hb`s,,,seems like a lotta real vintage pieces from the sixties tend to have a hotter neck pu (again epi`s attention to details is impressive),,,the brightness of the bridge pu was maybe too much back then,,,i am thinking about swapping them but haven`t quite made up my mind yet, love minis they really are a cross between a regular hb and a single coil, snappy, rich and mellow when ya roll the tone knob back.
How did the stain or paint job look?
i got the olive burst and i really dig it,,no overspray on mine and the binding is perfectly placed ,,i get a lot of compliments when i take her to gigs, the finish is quite subtle and in certain light looks almost natural.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
for the money it can`t be beat,,if this same instrument were made in the states u know it would be two or three times as much i suspect.
How was the action out of the box?
action outta the box was good but i had to mess with it some to get it right for me,,but see i love doing that kinda stuff,,it`s satisfying to set em up and keep em feeling and playing well,,but it`s a good instrument to start with so it`s a pleasure to do so.
