Taylor 414CE Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar with CaseThe Taylor 414CE features modest appointments and world-class tone - it's the ideal accompaniment for any situation. With warm lows, balanced mids and highs, and that certain zing that is all ovangkol, the Taylor 414CE is ideally suited for fingerstyle playing or medium strumming. Providing access to the upper registers of the fingerboard, the soft Venetian cutaway is both practical and attractive, while the Taylor Expression System allows you to share your music with the world.
Taylor 414CE Woods:
Sitka Spruce Top; Ovangkol Back & Sides
The quick, articulate response of Sitka spruce is combined with the warmth and sparkle of ovangkol, giving the 400 Series a tone reminiscent of rosewood, yet uniquely its own.
The Taylor Grand Auditorium Body
Taylor's Grand Auditorium combines the width and depth of a Dreadnought with a narrower waist. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.
Taylor Expression System Electronics
Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar’s native tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.
Satin Finish with Gloss Top
The finish used to create this guitar’s textured satin back and sides and lustrous gloss top was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.
Taylor Guitars has never been one to copy the work of other guitar makers. From the distinctive look and feel of a Taylor guitar to its signature tone to the cutting edge manufacturing methods Taylor has pioneered, Taylor Guitars has always been an innovator, and his guitars are widely recognized as true originals.

QUALITY: Excellent attention to detail. Not a fancy guitar, just plain solid with great tone.
FEATURES: Mine is a 2003 special edition limited run of 441. Solid Sitka top with solid rosewood sides, solid three piece rosewood back and expression system. Only 441 made that year. Except for the fancy inlays, it is nearly identical to the more expensive 814ce. Same tonal qualities just not as fancy.
EASE OF USE: Plays fantastic. Action is perfect, everything is setup great from the factory. Very few, if any adjustments needed to be made. Great for fingerstyle and medium struming. If you strum like you're killing rats then go for a dred.
VALUE: Great value. Taylors hold their value for a long time. This is my second Taylor. I also own a 514ce. I'd replace it if it was lost or stolen.
SOUND: Fantastic sound and tone. THe ES system is good (not great). Near impossible to feed back unless you play 3 inches

QUALITY: It's a Taylor, what do you think.
FEATURES: The best sounding, best made acoustic electric I have ever played and owned. The electronics are the best I've ever tried and so easy to get the tone I wanted. Simplicity at its best.
EASE OF USE: Great, stays in tune, sound is phenomenal.
VALUE: Best $1,800+ I've ever spent, would buy it again in a heartbeat. The case that it comes with is as high quality as the instrument itself, it is second to none.
SOUND: Beyond belief! Simply Incredible.

QUALITY: it is made very well as far as an acoustic instrument-- electronis is the problem
FEATURES: guitar pays amazingly well-- great action, great lookong, great craftmanship as an acoustic instrument-- electronics is the problem
EASE OF USE: easy to play, set up perfect out of the crate
VALUE: no. Electronics are abismal -- constant buzz, not grounded -- there is a loose part somewhere in mine that resonates/vibrates when "G" chord is played -- was advised by warrantee dept that a fix to ground wire through the bridge is a standard warrantee fix-- i have not done that as i do not want someone hacking at the instrument - i record it with mics ,don't use elctronics to play live - anymore--- and that is not the role i bought it for to relegate it to the studio
SOUND: no low end, cant strum it hard, expression system electronis provide an extreme harshness via my club PA (600 watt Yamaha powered mi |
