ART engineers have combined the world-renowned Pro MPA, Pro VLA, and Tube EQ into a single product – creating the world’s best-sounding and most affordable professional recording channel.
The Pro Channel features many exciting design enhancements to ART’s pro and home studio staples, including the addition of a Variable Mu circuit to the compressor module. The Pro Channel allows you to select between ART’s award winning optical/tube compressor or the coveted Variable Mu circuit (a design made popular by the sound of the old broadcast limiters – now costing thousands of dollars). The Variable Mu circuit is fast, fat and a bit aggressive, and is guaranteed to become a legend among compressors as has the Pro VLA. The four-band parametric equalizer has selectable Q for the two sweepable mid-bands. As with all design elements of the Pro Channel, these Q options were fine-tuned by some of the industry’s top studio and live-sound engineers. Likewise, all new additions were made without compromise to the sound of the original designs (Pro MPA, Pro VLA, Tube EQ), which have become standards in professional studios and FOH rigs around the globe.
The Pro Channel defines the term "channel strip." The Pro Channel is an impressive package from the world-wide leaders in tube dynamics signal-processing gear. Pick one up and catch your own tube-buzz at your favorite ART dealer today.

QUALITY: The quality of the Pro Channel is very good. I did recieve one unit that had some sticky, if not unturnable pots. The unit I have now is very good in constuction.
FEATURES: The best feature of this item is the linkable mic pre and the compressor, particularly the MU. I was able to get aggressive tones of various voices and instruments using this feature. If I could and anything it would be more selection possibilities to the EQ section.
EASE OF USE: It is fairly easy to use, although the gain stages throughout each section affect the next stage. I would like to see less variables in that area...tweaking becomes somewhat tedious when you need to go back and raise or lower a stage you previously set. The VU is addequate in setting gains.......ears and my final meter on my recorder are more accurate.
VALUE: Very good value...I would put this up against units costing 4x's as much.

QUALITY: Built to last! Steel Construction with solid assembly no cheap parts such as knobs that fall off.
FEATURES: The pro Channels best feature is its three in on design, I have used every feature of this pre anp and it does exactly what you would expect on a pro level.
EASE OF USE: If you read the manual and have good ears you this will give you prfessional results. It's that simple.
VALUE: I stoped using my Avalon, If you dial this baby in you can get the same sound as more pricey Pre's!
SOUND: Prestine! Prestine! Prestine! no noise of hum what so ever if you want flat, warm, distorted, telephone effect, you can get it all from the Art Pro. | |

QUALITY: Very nice, looks nice, VU meter is way too slow though, and the compressor output knob is very noisy if your not too carefull
FEATURES: alot of features, has 3 tubes, one for each stage, lots of eq options
EASE OF USE: kind of hard to just sweep the eq without having to add in your head or push a button to change the eq bands and bandwidth
VALUE: very nice product, well worth it. just going to take some time to get used to
SOUND: very good on acoustic guitar with a akg c430 small condensor mic on the hole and down the fret, give a smooth sound, but you have to watch out for the compressor output (make up gain) it can get noisey if your not carefull
STYLE: post hardcore/screamo/rock fusion
MUSIC EXPERIENCE: playing drums for 7 years and recording for about 4 years

QUALITY: All knobs and buttons feel solid in its steel chasis.
FEATURES: The ART Pro Channel has everything you need to get a fat smooth sound, without having to chain together a preamp, an eq, and a compressor yourself.
EASE OF USE: It does take a little time to dial it in but don't let that stop you. It is well worth it.
VALUE: Well let me put it this way, most of the processors go down in price over time. I paid $299 on AMS, now I see its up to $320.
SOUND: The sound blew me away. If you have tried those cheep mic preamps, you know what I mean, the little square boxes that set on your table and don't realy do anything except add noise, you will love the ART Pro Channel. I had been trying to get this sound for over ten years. The sound is fat and full but clear and punchy, like the pros get. And no noise at all. I would have payed twice the price if I new my tracks could sound like this.

QUALITY: It's as good as you should expect for something that cost less then $500 but more then $200. And less then you would get from something that cost 1000's. Pound for pound dollar for dollar, the quality is ammazing.
FEATURES: It's nice to have options and this baby gives you just that. Except the one that matters most, a front panel input. Would have been really nice, so I can stop getting in and out of the back of my rack, when I need to change something.
EASE OF USE: It' s so easy a drummer could use it.
VALUE: Suprising amount of bang for the buck, very suprising. I would pay more for a second one if they raised the price.
SOUND: Well isnt that what we all wanna know isnt it? How does it sound? It sounds awesome. Very musical EQ an idiot proof compressor, and a nice warm tone. Nice, very nice... |
