Gibson SG Special Faded Electric Guitar with Gig Bag

The Gibson Faded SG Special is an amazingly affordable American made Gibson SG!
Built with the same features as some of the most sought-after Gibson's ever created, The Faded Cherry and Faded Brown SGs gives this classic model SG the look of a well-worn, well-loved instrument. Features include a mahogany body, a rounded mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and chrome hardware.

Nothing can match the well-played look and feel of a favorite SG from the 1960s or 70s except today’s SG Special Faded. The Worn finish make these guitars feel like old friends, while humbucking pickups bring the SG Special to a level of performance the originals never had.

The Faded SG Special includes a deluxe padded gigbag.

Gibson 490R and 490T Humbuckers
These Modern Classic pickups feature tonal characteristics similar to the 57 Classic, but deliver a slight increase in the upper mids, for a more contemporary humbucking sound. The special Alnico II magnet gives these beauties a singing quality that delivers on demand. The 490R, with its neck-spaced pole pieces, is calibrated to match the bridge-spaced 490T for a perfect match.

Quality: It seems good
Sound: The tone is great for rock
Reliability: just got it
Overall: I purchased a worn brown SG on scratch and dent. It was hard to find the flaw so I thought it was a great deal.
Playability and Feel: Its an SG
Tone: Great stock pickups, almost might not change them out as planned before hearing it here.
Finish: I am not in love with the worn brown finish, and it made the neck feel a little "sandy"
Action: it needed a good setup, but hey it was a scratch and dent and I get my new guitars setup anyway

Quality: This is one of 4 Gibson USAs I own. Great guitar, and a great buy.
Reliability: Gibson need I say more?
Overall: Great guitar from Gibson. After I picked up my first Gibson I was sold for life..
Playability and Feel: Light guitar, with a fast neck.
Tone: Tone is in the middle, between my Les Paul and my Explorer. Great tone for most songs and styles..
Finish: The stain should hold up forever. When you buy a nice guitar. You should take care of it. People who throw guitars around should be put in jail!!
Action: Second owner here. Owner sold me a new guitar they did not play.

Subject:What were they thinking?
Quality: Well it is probably good wood and may last for ever but it needs finishing. I am not joking, this guitar looks like they stopped working when it was half finished and then just decided to sell it like that.
Reliability: No idea, I wouldnt even consider buying it
Overall: Gibson should never have made this series. It looks terrible from a distance and up close and the neck is horrid. Looks like it was never finished! Maybe for someone intending to customise an SG to their own tastes, this would make a good starting point but as it is, its just no good. My local shop has this hidden away in the "really expensive guitar" corner but I think it is more to do with it being an embarrassment than the price! If you want a reasonable priced but great SG, look at the epi prophecy series (with genuine Gibson Pick ups)and leave this monster in the closet where it belongs.
Playability and Feel: Sharp fret edges and a thick neck = no good. Garbage tuners too.
Tone: Lets be honest, I never even got as far as plugging it in. Genuine Gibson pickups and that set neck will undoutedly mean great tone - if you ever play it.
Finish: What paint? As I have said, garbage. No really, tat like this should not carry the most respected name in the business.
Action: OK but let down by the neck which is fat and has sharp frets
Skill Level: Beginner

"Love dealing with American Musical Supply. The 3 Payment Plan is great and not offered by other web stores. Always great service and prompt shipping. This order was placed at 1 pm on Wednesday and I received at 2pm on Friday. Doesn't get any better than that." Nov '09
