The Gibson Faded SG Special is an amazingly affordable American made Gibson SG!
Built with the same features as some of the most sought-after Gibson's ever created, The Faded Cherry and Faded Brown SGs gives this classic model SG the look of a well-worn, well-loved instrument. Features include a mahogany body, a rounded mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard, and chrome hardware.
Nothing can match the well-played look and feel of a favorite SG from the 1960s or 70s except today’s SG Special Faded. The Worn finish make these guitars feel like old friends, while humbucking pickups bring the SG Special to a level of performance the originals never had.
The Faded SG Special includes a deluxe padded gigbag.
Gibson 490R and 490T Humbuckers
These Modern Classic pickups feature tonal characteristics similar to the 57 Classic, but deliver a slight increase in the upper mids, for a more contemporary humbucking sound. The special Alnico II magnet gives these beauties a singing quality that delivers on demand. The 490R, with its neck-spaced pole pieces, is calibrated to match the bridge-spaced 490T for a perfect match.

| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| For the money, you won't find a better 22 fret fixed bridge light weight double humbucking mahogany dream that's this versatile! However, the first one that arrived was...well...defective. The neck angle was so off, it couldn't be put on the front position of a 2-guitar guitar stand -- the neck protruded too far back. Consequently, the guitar could not be setup properly and was sent back. But, I am utterly pleased with the replacement! |

| I have no idea how the guitar will hold-up over time, but it seems to be a very solid guitar. I pounded out hours of music without so much as a whimper! And, that's impressive for a new guitar out of the box! |

| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| This is one of the fastest, most articulate guitars I've ever played and I've been playing guitars since...1964. My first real guitar was an early 70's Gibson SG. This new SG is more stable than the older SG I had. The older SG had a wobbly neck! This neck is utterly stable -- it's not in the specs on must web sites, but it is quarter sawn wood, which makes a HUGE difference in playability and feel due to the rigidity of quarter sawn wood. The neck shape, though it is fat, it's still a full-blown shredder that will support any other style of music too! Because the guitar is so light, you'll forget it's there and just get immersed in your playing! |

| Amazing. Bright, dark, loud, and articulate -- a full-blown Gibson ...this one sounds like a deep, rich chimmey piano with the classic Gibson sustain. The guitar responds to the most subtle touch and all out bangin'! This is a tone machine suitable for *any* style of music! The pickups are excellent and I've been able to dial in perfectly every tone I've tried thus far from full-blown metal to soft jazz! |

| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| The finish on the first guitar, the defective one, that has a few paint blobs on it, and though the neck was not set correctly, ...that neck was finished to perfection, a lot of work went into that neck but then they botched it by not setting it correctly, or it shifted badly while in the supply chain! The replacement? Purrrrfect assembly and paint, but the fret ends, just a hint more time could have been spent on this one, just a hint. Also, the metal on the bridge screws and stop bar are too brittle for a good, hard, long-lasting screw driver. Whereas an older SG's metal is harder and can handle this screwdriver, ...the new bridge screws couldn't. When I adjust the stop-bar on the defective guitar to see if the fret buzz could be fixed and action adjusted, the screw hit the end of its travel and couldn't resist the screwdriver and left a screw driver mark on the top of the screw slot. So, be careful if you adjust the stop bar screws, the metal is a hint too brittle! |

| The action out of the box on the second guitar was absolutely perfect and 100% to spec. A lot of time and effort went into the setup of this guitar. Thank you Gibson!!! |
