As a pioneer of heavy rock guitars, Ibanez has released 7- and 8-string models in the past. This year Ibanez goes beyond that with the release the RGD Prestige, Ibanez’s new heavy metal machine. The RGD Prestige is built for heavy rocking, and for outputting clear sound down to the lowest note without losing playability. RGD Prestige models feature extra-long 26.5 inch Prestige Wizard HP necks and full-step down factory tuning. The original tuned V7/V8 pickups are mounted and ready to ride. A lot of hard rockers hold their guitars low, and the sharp-shaped RGD body achieves good balance and easier access to high frets for low-slingers.

Edge Zero Tremolo
The Edge Zero 7, the newest generation of Edge knife-edge tremolos, employs design advantages from the high tech ZR Zero Resistance trem such as the Zero Point System, an onboard intonation screw and arm torque adjustment.

Wide Range Pickups
RGD2127Z features V77/V87 custom designed pickups for down tuning. These pickups are specially designed for capturing more low-end by regenerating a wider tonal range. Instead of losing the low-end, they output it with rich, harmonic tone.

Long Scale
A 26.5 inch extra long scale neck, with factory-set whole step down tuning. (Factory tuning: 1D, 2A, 3F, 4C, 5G, 6D, 7A.)

Great playability, minor cosmetic flaws.
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Overall, great comfortable guitar. Plays awesome. Feels solid, light and looks sweet. A lot of thought was put into the playability of this guitar and you can feel that as you continue to play it. There are minor cosmetic flaws, but every company has there lemons from time to time.
Your general opinion of this product.
Overall, this is a great playing gutiar once it has been set up to your personal preferences(as with many guitars) It looks awesome, plays awesome, feels awesome. Cosmetically, there are some areas of the guitar I feel more attention could have been paid. For $1,600 I expected this to have less flaws than some of the cheaper guitars I have owned, but hey - they make it unique and I know its mine that way; I've grown to love it.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Not bad for stock Ibanez pickups, but it's likely I'll be replacing them in the near future. The stock pickups have crunch on the bottom end, warm smooth mids when your amp settings are dialed.
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish of the body was nice, but things like the frets and fretboard were a poor finish. The sides of the frets where they are recessed into the fretboard are visible in some spots and finished in others, and what looks like a paint brush fixed some cosmetic flaws but is still very visible. Felt like things like this shouldn't be a problem when paying $1,600 for a new guitar. Also, the volume knob cap fell off several times the first time I used it band practice. Again, for the price I felt I shouldn't have had any small issues like this, but again - it was a small issue and was just a matter of tightening it.
