    Product Description

The SG is one of Gibson’s most popular instruments, and given Gibson’s long and storied history, that’s really saying something. Since its inauspicious start in 1961 as a temporary replacement for the Les Paul, the SG has become a favorite of many iconic guitarists. Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Pete Townsend, Frank Zappa, and Derek Trucks have all chosen the SG to convey their artistry at some point in their careers (many exclusively), and it’s even the source of Eric Clapton’s legendary “Woman Tone” from his Cream era.

Gibson’s SG flagship, the Standard, is now available in a truly stunning Pelham Blue! This is a Limited Edition Exclusive Run available from American Musical Supply! Take advantage of the opportunity to own this classic instrument in a beautiful, unique finish.

Gibson 2017 SG Standard T Electric Guitar Features

    • Limited Edition Exclusive Run Pelham Blue finish available at American Musical Supply!
    • Aluminum Tune-o-Matic bridge with steel thumbweels
    • Aluminum Stop Bar with steel post
    • Pickups perfectly matched to the spirit of their historic models and classic Gibson controls
    • Rolled binding over the frets
    • Polished 0.55 frets on top of our original 1.695” neck width and original Gibson Les Paul heel
    • Hand-selected and book matched solid maple top with historic flame grades
    • Historic plastics, knobs, hardware, truss rod cover and acrylic inlays
    • Historic Switchcraft toggle switch and multi-contact gold-plated jack
    Body Design
The instantly recognizable and often-copied asymmetrical double-horned body provides complete access to the upper frets. The sleek and lightweight body is constructed of mahogany with a hand-selected, book-matched solid maple top and is coated in hi-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. The small teardrop pickguard is a very nice throwback to the early '60s SG Standard.

    Slim-taper Neck Profile
Known for easy playability, this super-fast neck joins the body at the 21st fret, providing effortless upper-fret access. The scale length measures 24.75" and the thicker rosewood fingerboard comes adorned with white acrylic trapezoid inlays and beautiful rolled white binding. The headstock is angled at 17 degrees and features mother-of-pearl ‘Gibson’ and holly (crown) inlays.

    Electronics
Powered by a Classic ’57 humbucker in the neck position and a ’57+ at the bridge, you’ll experience tone reminiscent of the revered PAF era pickups. Under the chrome covers you’ll find Alnico II magnets for authentic vintage ‘color’. Pickups are selected via a Switchcraft toggle switch leading to a multi-contact gold-plated output jack.

    Hardware
From the chrome-covered aluminum stop tailpiece and classic Tune-o-matic bridge, to the 14:01 ratio locking Grover “kidney button” tuners, The SG Standard’s hardware provides timeless style with tried-and-true performance and durability.

    Case
The 2017 LE Exclusive SG Standard ships complete with a classic Gibson hard shell case. Inside you’ll find a premium leather strap, a Gibson multi-tool, and a polishing cloth.

What is your opinion of this product?
I picked one of these up many years ago at a local music store and really did not get it. I played it for ten minutes and never played one again. Fast forward twenty years and I can only say "my mistake". This Gibson SG is a true player's guitar. I cannot put it down. I own every conceivable guitar made and this is now a favorite. It has awesome rock an blues capability with beautiful sustain. Fit and finish are excellent. Neck is smooth and fast. Thank you Gibson.

    The 2017 Gibson asked G standard T.
What is your opinion of this product?
I love this guitar. I had a SG back in the 60s and this one is a lot like that only better. I think it is up there with my Gibson Les Paul HP. I like the color and the sound. Just a couple minor adjustments it plays just wonderful! I recommend this to anyone and everyone that wants a great guitar at a great price.

Even better than I wished for!
What is your opinion of this product?
Great action, sweet tone! Pretty much in tune right out of the box. The fit and finish are superb, I was impressed. This is my first Gibson and I couldn’t be happier! I have an Epiphone SG and this blows that one away. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to join the Gibson family without spending thousands of dollars.

    Blue SG
What is your opinion of this product?
There are a lot nice features on this guitar. I really like the openness the sg gives beyond the 12 th fret. The 57 and 57 plus humbuckers have a nice growl and snarl to the sound. Guitar is super light and playable. The white plastic boarder on the fretboard kind of reminds me of an epiphone neck but I am getting over it the more I play it. Neck radius is fast and the rosewood fretboard is responsive. Overall guitar delivered ready to play. AMS staff was super helpful and instrumental on helping me choose this sg over other models.

    USA SG
What is your opinion of this product?
I have been playing guitar for over 40 years and haven't had a Gibson since I was in high school in the seventies when I had a 65 Les Paul Gold Top that I foolishly sold for $300. Anyways, fast forward to today, I have been playing a mostly metal style for the past twenty years and all of my guitars have been maple neck thru types with ebony fingerboards and 25-1/2 scale length which suits my playing style and full distortion sound. But I have always loved the shape of the SG and always admired and respected the work of Tony Iommi and always thought about getting one so when I saw it advertised in Pelham Blue (I am just a freak about the color blue) and the fact that it came with locking tuners and it was USA made I couldn't resist, and I am not sorry ! Excellent construction, nicely finished edges on the fret board and balanced tone. I immediately took the guitar to my guitar tech and had a Seymour Duncan hot rodded set installed and distorted chords will sustain endlessly! I
