Yamaha musical instruments

Officially the world’s largest musical manufacturing company, Yamaha musical instruments range from guitars and amps to keyboards, mixers, live sound, and beyond. If there’s a piece of music equipment they don’t make, you don’t need it! Whether you’re a beginner just starting out or a professional with decades of experience, there are plenty of Yamaha musical instruments to fit your budget and style.

Yamaha acoustic guitars

There’s some serious manufacturing power behind Yamaha musical instruments, and it’s not wasted on their acoustic guitars. Yamaha acoustic guitars merge incredible craftsmanship and affordability to provide quality instruments fit for musicians of any skill level or budget.

The Yamaha FG acoustic series features a comfortable design with solid spruce tops for improved sound and depth. They’re the go-to for anyone looking for a straightforward, no-muss folk acoustic guitar. Oh, and did we mention you can get all this quality for under $400!? Yamaha FG acoustics are some of the most cost-effective guitars out there. They’re perfect for beginners, and even intermediate and advanced players won’t be able to argue with their tone and playability!

And when you’re ready to hit the gig circuit, Yamaha acoustic/electric guitars come with built-in pickups and preamps to bring your amplified acoustic sound to any stage. Yamaha manufactures their own in-house electronics, featuring undersaddle piezo pickups and an in-body microphone. Use the blend switch on the side-mounted controls to control the balance between the pickup and mic to create your perfect tone.

Yamaha makes all sorts of acoustic and acoustic/electric guitars to suit your playing style. Whether you want a thin guitar that’s perfect for travel, a cutaway body shape for easy access to the upper frets, or premium build materials for professional-grade sound, Yamaha has an acoustic for you!

For beginners looking for their first guitar, Yamaha offers a few acoustic guitar packages that come with everything you need to start playing right away with a budget-friendly price tag.

Yamaha electric guitars and basses

The same quality and craftsmanship as their acoustics, just electrified! Yamaha electric guitars offer plenty of innovative features to help spur your creativity. Whether you choose the Revstar series that’s reminiscent of Yamaha’s classic motorcycle past or the ultra-modern Pacifica, you can’t go wrong with a Yamaha electric guitar.

Classic rockers won’t be able to get enough of the Yamaha Revstar. Featuring either humbuckers or legendary P90 pickups, this guitar is certain to turn heads with its classic styling based on café racer motorcycles (something Yamaha knows a little something about).

The Yamaha Pacifica is a rocker’s dream. Packed with three high-quality Seymour Duncan pickups, two single-coils and a coil-tapped humbucker, this amazing guitar is ready to shred whatever solos might stand in your way. Throw in a tremolo bridge and five-way selector switch, and you have a guitar that can really rock.

Despite all these amazing features, Yamaha electric guitars are still incredibly affordable. Even their highest-tiered guitars can be snatched up for under $900 — and many models come in well below that.

And if you prefer to go for the low-end, don’t forget about Yamaha bass guitars. They feature all the same incredible build quality and affordability as their electric guitars, just tuned a bit lower. Whether you’re looking for a four-string or five-string model, there’s a Yamaha bass to fit your style.

Yamaha guitar amplifiers

All those amazing Yamaha guitar electronics deserve to be heard through an equally amazing amplifier. And of course Yamaha is ready to provide!

Yamaha guitar amplifiers feature an innovative compact design that makes them easy to transport without sacrificing sound quality. In fact, they’re called “Desktop Guitar Amps.” They can sit right on your desk!

Yamaha amps are styled in the manner of vintage transistors to give your space a classic look, and their metal casing ensures they’ll be around for years to come. These amps come in all sizes and power levels, ranging from a small 10-watts to the more powerful 30-watt models. They even offer acoustic amps to make your Yamaha acoustic/electric sound the way it was meant to be heard.

Yamaha live sound and studio

When you’re ready to hit the stage, Yamaha is there with all their incredible live sound gear. From mixers and monitors to speakers and headphones, Yamaha has everything you need to make a statement on any stage.

Blast your tunes to the crowd with Yamaha PA speakers. Their rugged and sturdy design is built to stand up to even the toughest road conditions, while their high-quality internals can pump any venue full of sound. Whether you want an all-in-one PA solution like the Yamaha DXL or ever-popular STAGEPAS, or prefer standalone speakers, Yamaha has you covered with both active and passive PA speaker options available.

Ready to dial in your mix? Yamaha mixers offer all the channels you need to mic any sized band. From compact and portable six-channel mixers all the way up to professional studio-grade 48-channel monsters, there’s a Yamaha mixer for nearly any musical application. There are even Yamaha powered mixers to work with your passive PA speaker live sound setup.

As a musician, it helps to hear what the mix sounds like while you’re on stage. Yamaha stage monitors are ready to pump all those lovely sounds right back at you, so you can dial in with the rest of the band. Yamaha really does offer the complete package when it comes to your live sound and studio recording needs!

Yamaha keyboards and digital pianos

Yamaha got its start making reed organs, which is essentially a piano that uses air to make sound. It’s only natural that Yamaha would eventually get into the piano market, which they did back in 1900! Yamaha pianos and digital keyboards have been regarded as some of the best in the industry ever since.

If you want a piano that feels like the real deal without taking up tons of space in your house, you might be interested in a digital piano. Yamaha digital pianos are packed with industry-leading technology, including weighted keys, different levels of attack, and multiple voicings — depending on the model. They’re also built with styling in mind, so not only do they feel and sound like a real piano, they look as good as one, too!

Yamaha also offers high-quality keyboards and travel keyboards that bring all the amazing features you’d expect in a keyboard to a gig-ready package. Whether you want a simple keyboard to get started or a professional-level synthesizer to create your next musical masterpiece, Yamaha has you covered.

And don’t forget to pick up a few music accessories like keyboard stands and pedals. Of course, Yamaha makes them too!

Yamaha drums and percussion equipment

Yamaha drum sets are so good they’ve literally won awards! So if you’re looking for either an acoustic or electric drum kit, it’s hard to go wrong with Yamaha.

Yamaha acoustic drum sets are built using Yamaha’s legendary manufacturing methods and premium materials to ensure the highest quality. Whether you want a simple shell kit or a full kit with hardware, you’ll be ready to keep beats and make noise in no time!

It’s not always easy to find space for a full-sized acoustic drum set. If you’re looking for something a bit more compact and desk-friendly, Yamaha’s selection of digital drums and drum pads bring realistic drum sounds (and more) to your desktop.

Yamaha also makes a wide assortment of drum accessories, including kick pedals, drum and cymbal stands, and even acoustic drum mic modules.

History of Yamaha

Yamaha began back in 1887 as the Nippon Gakki Co., Ltd. when a man named Torakusu Yamaha began repairing reed organs around Japan. It wasn’t long before he started manufacturing his own reed organs and officially incorporated his business in 1897. By 1900, Yamaha was producing his own pianos as well. The first piano ever built in Japan was built by Yamaha!

The iconic Yamaha logo is based on the early origins of the company, showcasing three interlocking tuning forks that Yamaha himself would have used repairing and building reed organs and pianos — long before digital tuners took over the world.

Yamaha continued to produce reed organs and pianos through the early 1900s. During World War II, Yamaha was focused on the war effort, lending their manufacturing lines to produce machinery. Following the war, Yamaha decided to use their newly found expertise in metallurgy to start producing motorcycles.

In 1954, they released their first line of 125cc motorcycles, called the YA-1 or the Akatombo. The “Red Dragonfly,” as they were called, were a big hit, causing the spinoff and founding of the Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. — which is now a separate independent company from the music manufacturer, though they still share a logo.

By the late 1900s, Yamaha had expanded their musical operations to include wind instruments, drums, guitars, stringed instruments, and even dabbled in the audio/visual computer realm. In 1983, Yamaha is credited with the creation of the first commercially successful digital synthesizer. Yamaha’s synth products are still regarded as some of the best in the industry!

Going into the 21st Century, Yamaha continued its expansion into the live sound and studio space with the production of PA speakers and mixers, along with acquiring other brands in the music software space.

Yamaha has also been a major influence for music education around the world. They first opened the Yamaha Music School back in the 1950s, and it’s still going strong today. Over 6 million students in 40 countries have learned the joy of music through Yamaha Music School lessons.

With their incredible wide-reaching product catalogue that touches nearly every aspect of musical production to their manufacturing and global distribution, there’s no doubt that Yamaha is the largest musical equipment manufacturer in the world today. Their centuries of innovation still show in all Yamaha musical instruments. If you’re ready to create and make music, there’s a piece of Yamaha equipment that can help!
