Mapex drum and cymbal stands
Mapex takes drums seriously. And the only way to ensure their drums maintain the best tone (without crashing to the ground) is to build some of the best drum and cymbal stands in the industry. That’s exactly what they did!
You can find Mapex drum and cymbal stands to fit just about any configuration. Many of their stands and hardware packs are named after their various drum kit series. For example, you can get Mapex Mars series drum hardware packs that work perfectly with the Mars drum set.
All Mapex stands are built using the latest technology and best materials. The result is a sturdy drum set that you can really beat on without worrying about slippage.
Mapex drum hardware and accessories
Mapex has a reputation for making innovative (and incredible) drum hardware and accessories. They released the super-cool Janus Transmission Hat double drum pedal in 2000 that integrates the hi-hat and bass pedal into one double foot tappin’ machine, and their hardware has only gotten better over time.
Today, you can grab all kinds of smooth bass and double-bass pedals, drum thrones good enough for a ruler, super durable drum rugs, and more all from the maestros at Mapex. Check out some of the Mapex hardware offerings to really take your kit to the next level.
History of Mapex drums
Throughout the 1980s, a company called K.H.S. was manufacturing musical instruments for other brands around the world under the name Linko Percussion. However, in 1989, they got tired of making other brands’ products and decided to launch their own.
The new brand was called Mapex, which stood for Musical And Percussion Excellence. It wasn’t long before they signed their first signature artist, Ralph Peterson, and launched the Black Panther series of snare drums, which is still going strong today!
In 1992, Mapex released their first line of high-end drums with the Orion series. These drums were made of maple or birch and featured Mapex’s new “Freedom” high-tension lugs.
By 1993, the Mars series was released. This line was a big deal because it was the very first mid-range lacquer drum set on the market! Naturally, drummers loved it, and Mapex drums became ever more popular in the percussion market.
Throughout the rest of the ‘90s, Mapex continued to innovate with incredible new products, like the ITS (Insulated Tone System) off-shell tom mounting system that increased projection and resonance and the P950 kick pedal, which earned then numerous awards all over the world.
In 2001, Mapex opened its very own drum R&D center where they could research exciting new materials, products, and designs to make the absolute best of the best when it comes to percussion excellence — including their 2014 release of the Soniclear Bearing Edge, which allows the drum head to sit flatter on the shell, resulting in better pitch and consistent tuning.
Whether you’re looking for a complete drum set, a few shells, incredible hardware, or an iconic snare that sounds as good as it looks, Mapex designs amazing gear for drummers of any skill level or style. Take your playing to the next level with Mapex drums and percussion accessories!
