Product Description

The Neumann KH120 Active Studio Monitor is designed for use as a near-field loudspeaker or as a rear loudspeaker in larger multi-channel systems. The Neumann KH 120 represents the latest in acoustic and electronic simulation and measurement technologies to ensure the most accurate sound reproduction possible. It has a Mathematically Modeled Dispersion waveguide, flexible acoustical controls, analog class-AB amplifiers, various input formats and an extensive mounting hardware range.

All of this provides the user with the maximum versatility over a wide variety of acoustic conditions, source equipment, and physical locations. A subwoofer, such as the Neumann KH 810, with its 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager, can be added to deepen the low-frequency response to 18 Hz and increase the system's maximum output level. The KH 120 is perfect for tracking, mixing and mastering in music, broadcast, project and post-production studios.

Neumann KH120 Active Studio Monitor Features:

  • Powerful titanium fabric dome: Low-distortion high-frequency reproduction
  • Elliptical Mathematically Modeled Dispersion waveguide: Smoother off-axis response, More forgiving of diverse acoustical environments
  • Composite sandwich cone: Damping of break-up modes
  • Long throw bass driver: Low distortions at high sound levels
  • Two-color + dimmable Neumann logo: Displays operation status and activation of the extensive protection system
  • Robust metal grille: Protects against mechanical damage
  • Large front panel ports: Reduced bass compression and easier to mount in tight spaces such as OB vans
  • Compact aluminum cabinet (magnetically shielded): Minimizes resonances, better heat dissipation, long life
  • Wide horizontal dispersion: Freedom of movement across the mixing console
  • Narrow vertical dispersion: Reduces reflections off the mixing console
  • One-piece front panel with no discontinuities: Reduced diffraction and smoother frequency response
  • Powerful analog amplifiers with large headroom: Improved transient response
  • Production consistency: Any KH 120 is ‘pair-matched’ to any other KH 120
  • 4-position bass, low-mid and treble acoustical controls: More control in diverse acoustical environments
  • Wide range input gain and output level controls: Easier interfacing with signal sources
  • New mounting hardware options: More flexibility in mounting cabinets in more diverse locations
  • Display dimmer: For low lighting level conditions or behind the screen applications
  • Ground lift: Reduced noise in electrically noisy environments and over-comes ground loops
  • Universal switched-mode power supply (100...240 V): One version works in any country and robust to poor quality mains supply
  • Separate woofer and tweeter electronic peak limiters and thermal-protection circuitry: High reliability

I feel like I'm in a brand new studio!

What is your opinion of this product?
I had been mixing in, first these little Samson monitors. They had the slightest but of distortion, so I started using an old pair of Tannoys from a friend. Better low end, but colored the sound. I pretty much believed that you can learn to mix on anything so I kept them around. But I didn't like the separate power amp or the sound of its fan. Then a producer friend of mine who ACTUALLY produces pop music with big artists played in the radio told me about these. A friend of his who mixed Rhianna uses them and swears by them so he bought a pair for his studio upstate. He loved them so much he got a pair for his home studio in NYC. I remembered Ryan "Fluff" Bruce saying in a video that when he got his JBLs, they sounded great, but he loved his KH120s so he went back to them. So...I took the plunge and man am I glad. Literally the first sound that came out of them when I turned them on gave me goosebumps. I heard nuances I hadn't heard before. It's like have a new studio.

Amazing - Best money I've spent in years
What is your opinion of this product?
I recently did an upgrade and replaced my Digidesign 192 with an HD Omni and decided to upgrade to the KH-120s as well. The difference in my mixes was night and day. After configuring the Omni (PITA!) and playing back a finished mix I was blown away. There were a couple problems that jumped out (floor tom, a cymbal and some bass notes) that I was able to quickly fix. The KH-120s are very detailed and you'll hear things on these that other speakers will mask with hype. I can't even begin to say how happy I am with these. * I don't do dance music or rap. If you do the (very expensive) subwoofer may be needed. I work with real instruments.

Great Mixes.
What is your opinion of this product?
Money well spent. I have Focal 50's Dynaudio BM15A's and just added The Neumann kh120's they translate your mixes so well and they are beatiful sounding on all levels. Highly recommended.
