Gibson Flying V Guitars

The Gibson Flying V is an icon—a six-string spaceship that's been breaking the mold since it first launched in 1958. Its radical "space-age" design is just as rebellious today as it was back then, with sharp, angular lines and that unmistakable arrowhead headstock. At American Musical Supply, we’ve got a killer selection of Gibson Flying V guitars for sale, perfect for players looking to make a sonic and visual impact. With our free shipping and financing options, your next iconic guitar is just a click away.

The story of the Flying V stretches back over sixty years. It was 1957 and 1958, and Gibson was aggressively preparing to introduce new future-facing electric guitar models. From a batch of early design concepts, the “Flying V” stood out and was really the only selection that made it through creative discussions relatively unaltered and true-to-form. Gibson had a game-changer on their hands, even if it took a couple of decades to fully take off. We’re glad that the Gibson Flying V surged in popularity, the guitar world is definitely better for it!! The Flying V got its start in the world of blues, with prominent musicians Lonnie Mack and Albert King taking to instrument rather early on. From there, rockers, heavy metal mavens, and guitar maestros brought the Flying V to prominence in the 1970s and 80s, and things have been on a rocket ride upward ever since. The Gibson Flying V has been an inspiration to countless guitarists and can be seen in action all over the world!
