    ESP LTD M-200DX Electric Guitar

ESP built its reputation in 1975 on a simple idea: take a good guitar and make it genuinely great. Better necks, smarter components, and an obsessive drive to squeeze more tone out of every dollar. That philosophy is alive and well in the LTD M-200DX — a modern, affordable guitar that punches well above its price tag. With a roasted maple neck, figured poplar burl top, and ESP's own LH-150 humbuckers, this guitar is ready to rip anytime, anywhere.

ESP LTD M-200DX A Neck Ready to Be Played

A Neck Ready to Be Played

A guitar is only as good as how it feels in your hands, and the M-200DX doesn't mess around in that department. The roasted maple neck is smooth, stable, and fast — the kind of neck that makes you wonder why you ever put up with anything less. Paired with a 25.5" scale rosewood fingerboard, it delivers a playing experience that feels like it belongs on something considerably more expensive.

    • Roasted Maple Neck: The roasting process stabilizes the wood against humidity and temperature swings, so your neck stays straight and your intonation stays tight — no matter where your gig takes you.
    • Rosewood Fingerboard: Warm, smooth, and naturally grippy, rosewood gives your fretting hand the feedback it needs for precise bends, clean chord work, and comfortable long sessions.
    • 25.5" Scale Length: The longer scale adds just the right amount of tension for clear note definition and punchy low-end response, making it especially satisfying for drop tunings and heavier styles.

    Tone That Earns Its Keep

ESP's LH-150 pickups have been doing the heavy lifting in LTD guitars for a long time, and there's a good reason they keep showing up. They're voiced to be aggressive when you need them to be and clear when you don't — a balance that's harder to pull off than it sounds. The string-thru bridge design keeps everything tight and resonant, adding sustain that turns ordinary notes into something worth listening to.

    • ESP LH-150N & LH-150B Humbuckers: These ESP-designed pickups deliver a wide tonal range, from clean and articulate to chunky and aggressive, without the noise issues that come with single-coil designs.
    • String-Thru Bridge: Running the strings through the body rather than over a tailpiece increases the contact between string and guitar, improving resonance and adding sustain that other budget guitars in this range simply can't match.
    • Black Chrome Hardware: Corrosion-resistant and built to hold its tuning, the black chrome hardware keeps the M-200DX looking sharp while doing its actual job — keeping you in tune through the entire set.

ESP LTD M-200DX Looks That Do the Talking

    Looks That Do the Talking

Gear that sounds great but looks forgettable is a missed opportunity. The M-200DX disagrees with that approach entirely. The poplar burl top brings a natural, figured aesthetic that would look right at home on a guitar costing three times as much. It's the kind of visual detail that makes people across the room ask what you're playing — and makes your answer even more satisfying.

    • Poplar Burl Top: The figured burl top gives each guitar a unique grain pattern, meaning no two M-200DX guitars look exactly alike. It's a subtle flex, but a flex nonetheless.
    • Double-Cut Body Shape: The double-cutaway design gives your fretting hand unrestricted access to the upper frets — no awkward reaching, no compromised technique, just clean access all the way up the neck.
    • Bolt-On Construction: Bolt-on necks are easier to adjust and repair than set-neck designs, which is practical for gigging musicians.

The ESP LTD M-200DX: Built for Players

The M-200DX is a no-nonsense electric guitar for players who want quality components, genuine playability, and a guitar that looks like it belongs on a stage — without a price tag that requires winning lottery ticket. ESP has always been about making better guitars, and that commitment shows up clearly here. Whether this is your first serious electric or a road-worthy backup to your main axe, the M-200DX delivers more than the numbers on the price tag suggest is possible.

    Fantastic guitar for the price!

Really happy with this guitar for the price. It sounds great and came mostly set up. I also have a Gibson Les Paul and a fender strat and this guitar can play with the best of them.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, the M-200DX is an excellent option for intermediate and advancing players, and capable enough to serve as a serious first electric for beginners who want to skip the starter-pack compromises. Its comfortable neck profile and reliable hardware make the learning curve a little less steep.

The M-200DX is built with rock, metal, and hard rock players in mind, but the LH-150 humbuckers have enough range for blues, punk, and alternative styles too. It handles drop tunings particularly well thanks to its 25.5" scale length.

The LH-150 pickups are widely regarded as one of the stronger stock pickup sets in their price range, offering a clear, punchy output that doesn't immediately beg to be swapped out. For most players at this level, they're more than sufficient right out of the box.

For the price point, the M-200DX offers a combination of quality hardware, an ESP-designed pickup set, and a roasted maple neck that would be hard to replicate from other brands at a similar cost. It's widely considered excellent value in the affordable electric guitar market.

Yes, the black chrome tuning machines and string-thru bridge design contribute to solid tuning stability under regular playing conditions. Like any guitar, it benefits from a proper setup out of the box, but it doesn't require constant retuning between songs.
