The new J-45 Original revisits the model’s Jumbo roots with distinctive 30s Jumbo-inspired appointments that give it a character all its own. It also features the Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs HiFi DNA pickup system, delivering exceptional amplified realism and faithfully conveying the guitar’s unique voice, along with every subtle detail of the player’s performance.
The J-45 Original preserves the iconic round-shoulder dreadnought body design and the time-tested combination of a genuine mahogany back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top. This classic pairing delivers the warm, woody voice that has defined the J-45 for generations—hallmarks that have helped make it the most recorded acoustic guitar ever, as well as Gibson’s all-time best-selling acoustic model.
Its mahogany neck joins the body with a traditional dovetail construction, secured using hot hide glue to promote optimal resonance and tonal transfer. Shaped with a fast, comfortable SlimTaper profile, the neck offers smooth, effortless playability.
