Originally introduced in 1955, the Les Paul Special has been embraced by musicians for over 60 years. Now paying tribute to Gibson's Golden Era of innovation this Les Paul Special brings that legendary authenticity back to life.
The Les Paul Special boasts a mahogany body and neck, delivering warmth, richness, and excellent sustain. Its lightweight, comfortably contoured single-cutaway body offers great balance whether worn on a strap or played on the lap. The hand-finished ’50s-style mahogany neck features a rounded profile that provides a fast and comfortable playing experience. A rosewood fretboard with medium jumbo frets ensures a familiar feel for both chords and lead work. Finished in a lightweight glossy, nitrocellulose lacquer, this Les Paul Special comes just like the original. This finish is a lot thinner than polyurethane which allows for the guitar to breathe for improved sound and tone.
Enhancing its vintage-inspired design, the Les Paul Special is outfitted with premium components that capture an authentic tone and playing feel. It includes an adjustable wraparound bridge for precise intonation, Orange Drop capacitors that preserve clear, bright highs, and CTS potentiometers for smooth volume and tone adjustments. The breathable nitrocellulose lacquer really allows the tonewoods to resonate freely, producing a rich and open sound.
