Marshall Studio JCM 900 Guitar Amp Head

The Marshall Studio JCM 900 is for players who want the legendary sound of the 90s without needing a road crew to move their gear. This 20W head captures the raw, aggressive spirit of the original JCM900 — the amp that fueled the grunge and Britpop revolutions — and packs it into a portable, studio-friendly format. Whether you’re chasing the tones of your heroes or forging a new path, this amp delivers the goods with authentic style.

Marshall Studio JCM 900 The Sound of a Decade

    The Sound of a Decade

The Studio 900 isn't just a reissue; it's a time machine with a volume knob. It faithfully reproduces the high-gain crunch and sparkling cleans that made the original JCM900 an icon. By utilizing a hybrid design that blends the warmth of ECC83 and 5881 valves with the precision of solid-state components, this amp offers a wide dynamic range that responds instantly to your playing nuance.

    • Hybrid Tube Design: Features two ECC83 preamp valves, one ECC83 phase splitter, and two 5881 power valves to deliver rich, harmonic saturation and punchy lows.
    • Dual Channel Versatility: Switch effortlessly between two channels to go from clean, shimmering chords to screaming, high-gain leads at the tap of a footswitch.
    • Power Scaling: Easily switch between 20W, 5W, and <1W settings to achieve full-throated tube distortion at bedroom-friendly volume levels.

    Tamed Power for Any Setting

While the original 100W heads were built to fill stadiums, the Studio 900 is designed for the reality of modern musicians. It features a built-in power reduction system that lets you drop the wattage from 20W down to 5W or even under 1W. This means you can drive the tubes hard and get that coveted "cranked amp" sound at volumes that won't get you evicted or blow out your studio microphone.

    • DI Output: The speaker-emulated output allows you to plug directly into a PA system or recording interface, making it easier than ever to capture studio-quality tone.
    • Effects Loop: Integrating your favorite modulation and time-based pedals is seamless thanks to the series effects loop, keeping your signal path clean.
    • Compact Footprint: Weighing significantly less than its 100W ancestor, this head is easy to transport to rehearsals, gigs, and sessions without breaking your back.

Marshall Studio JCM 900 British Engineering

    British Engineering

Just like the originals that lined the backlines of the world's biggest stages, the Studio 900 is proudly made in the UK. Crafted in Marshall's Bletchley factory, it shares the same DNA and build quality as its larger siblings. From the gold piping to the classic script logo, every inch of this amplifier screams quality and durability, ensuring it stands up to the rigors of the road.

    • Built-in Spring Reverb: Add depth and space to your tone with the integrated spring reverb, which allows you to dial in everything from a subtle shimmer to a cavernous wash.
    • UK Craftsmanship: Hand-built in the same factory as the original JCM900, ensuring the highest standards of construction and reliability.
    • Classic Aesthetics: It sports the timeless Marshall look — black tolex, white script logo, and gold control panel — that looks as good as it sounds.

    A Modern Classic

The Marshall Studio JCM 900 20W Head bridges the gap between vintage nostalgia and modern utility. It respects its heritage by delivering uncompromising tone while embracing the needs of today's players with features like power scaling and DI outputs. If you need legitimate tube tone that fits in your car and sounds great at any volume, the Studio 900 is ready to rock.

I See It, I Need It

Very happy with it. Great gain, but just as important it has great clean. Easy to dial in and all controls are effective to find a tone that works with both clean and gain channels. Built in reverb is a plus. Very loud but still get a great sound at 94 db. Glad I didn't need to get the 100 watter.
