The Marshall Plexi 1987XL shares the same front and rear panel features as its 100-Watt big brother, the 1959 SLP, yet retains its own distinct personality.
Sweet warm singing EL34 sounds are packed into every nook and cranny of this great tone machine. As is the case with the 1959SLP, the 1987X has fittings and hardware as true to the originals as humanly possible, thus ensuring that authentic Marshall Vintage look. The Marshall re-issue models all are faithful reproductions of the originals, which shaped the sound of the electric guitar as we know it. The main characteristic that these amps share is their simplicity of operation and superb natural valve tone. Achieving the beautifully organic and vibrant overdrive which is their trademark, can only be done in one way - crank 'em up! The result is pure, majestic tone uncluttered by unnecessary circuitry. With solos this produces a big, round, warm, sustain, full of classic character. With chord work you get a bark and percussive attack with a natural sounding break up, which allows each note to ring out in a glorious musical crunch.

    FX Loop
Due to high demand, a sonically transparent effects loop has been added to the 1987X model. This circuitry has been designed to not color the guitar sound, so that your tone remains pure. The bypass switch gives you the option of completely removing this circuitry if desired. The effects loop level selector ensures compatibility with rack processors or floor pedals (stomp boxes).

    FINALLY!!! The Marshall 1987X!

The Marshall Plexi. The Amp that all other amps try to live up to. I currently have 5 Marshall amps starting with a 1976 MK II 2203 I finally got ahold of this 1987x reissue after years of looking -yes I wanted a new one. The vibe and look are just about as iconic as it gets the tone is so pure and ...

This amp holds true to the legacy Marshall has built over the yrs.

I like this amp very much it has crystal clean tone when you need it and that classic Marshall crunch as well. It takes pedals well, and you can also change the speaker load between 4, 8, 16 ohms which is a handy feature. Its my go to no1 amp.I would highly reccomnend this amp to any one who has nev...

No bells and whistles, just pure, simple Marshall tone!

Got my 1st 1987X (although no “X”) in 1969 along with the matching 8 - 10” cabinet, with covers for both. A 16th birthday gift that was extraordinarily, reasonably priced for the time period. I used a “Y” cord-to connect both channels. Along with my 1970 P90 SG Special, I was known as the kid “with ...

    The ICONIC Marshall tone!

This amp is the 1959SLP's little brother, but don't let that fool you. This is one mean 50 watt amp that gives you the PLEXI sound you've been wanting your whole life. I've had this for one week and it still feels like Christmas morning. Easy to dial in the sweet spot and even easier to grin while y...
