Seven years after beginning his career in building, repairing, and upgrading instruments, a new repair shop is established by Roger Sadowsky in Manhattan, New York City. With a clientele of most of the top NYC session and touring musicians, Roger began building his own electric basses in 1982. Roger soon became a well-known figure in the guitar and bass building community.
With increased demand for Sadowsky Basses in the US, Europe and Japan, Roger partnered with his distributor in Japan to produce a more affordable line of basses. He trained Japanese builder Yoshi Kikuchi for 10 months so he could return to Japan and begin producing the all new Sadowsky MetroLine basses.
Since its inception, the Sadowsky MetroLine has been at the forefront of player choice. The MetroLine production was moved from Japan to Germany in 2020, and in turn the line has expanded to more models, finishes and configurations than ever before!
