Legendary instrument designer and Grammy-winner Dave Smith has been fully immersed in the world of analog synthesizers for over four decades. His achievements in the field of electronic music are staggering - he moved sound design forward by designing the Prophet-5, the first polyphonic synth armed with a built-in microprocessor. He was also a pioneer of MIDI technology - after all, he was the one who originally created the now-commonplace acronym! Armed with vast knowledge and decades of expertise in both hardware and software fields, he started Dave Smith Instruments in 2002 and went to work creating the newest generation of synths, sound modules, and drum machines. Painstakingly built, fully-programmable, and immensely powerful, DSI synths and sounds are true modern analog machines that will bring new voices to your live shows and studio creations!
