EarthQuaker Devices builds every pedal by hand in Akron, Ohio and has been doing so for over a decade. From the Plumes overdrive to the Afterneath reverb and the Avalanche Run delay, their lineup covers everything from foundational drive tones to experimental sound design. American Musical Supply carries the full EarthQuaker Devices catalog with a lifetime warranty on every pedal, 0% interest financing, and VERY fast and free shipping.
Every EarthQuaker pedal is built by hand using all-analog or hybrid analog/digital circuits, and each one ships with a lifetime warranty. EarthQuaker will repair or replace any device they have made, at any time, as long as they are still in business. Beyond build quality, these pedals have personality. The Acapulco Gold is a single-knob distortion based on a cranked vintage Sunn Model T. The Hummingbird is a choppy sawtooth tremolo modeled after vintage repeat percussion units. Most models also feature Flexi-Switch Technology for both latching and momentary footswitch operation.
The EarthQuaker lineup is extensive, but a few models consistently stand out as essentials.
The Plumes is an all-analog overdrive with three selectable clipping modes: symmetrical LED, asymmetrical silicon, and no-diode OpAmp drive. It covers ground from crunchy rhythm tones to transparent boost, making it one of the most flexible overdrives on the market.
The Dispatch Master combines delay and reverb in a single enclosure with independent controls for each effect. It handles everything from subtle slapback to deep ambient washes, and its simplicity makes it easy to dial in quickly.
The Afterneath is a reverb that scatters short delays into a wash of ambient sound, creating textures that range from subtle cave-like spaces to dense, otherworldly pads. The Astral Destiny takes that further with eight reverb modes, eight editable presets, and assignable expression control.
For delay-focused players, the Silo offers three distinct delay voices (digital, analog, and tape) with six saveable presets, tap tempo, and expression control in a single pedal.
The Special Cranker is a more recent addition: an all-discrete analog overdrive designed to add grit and saturation without changing your amp's fundamental character. It responds to your guitar's volume knob like an extra preamp tube.
EarthQuaker pedals pair well together and with pedals from other builders. Their consistent build quality and predictable signal behavior make them reliable building blocks for any pedalboard. The Swiss Things, EarthQuaker's own pedalboard reconciler, adds true-bypass loop switching, an AB-Y box, clean boost, and a buffered output in one unit to tie a larger rig together without signal loss. EarthQuaker Devices offers a lifetime warranty. They will repair or replace any pedal they have made, at any time, as long as the company is still in business.
Most are. Many newer models use relay-based silent switching with Flexi-Switch Technology for both latching and momentary operation. Some pedals, like the Astral Destiny, use buffered bypass with a tails option for natural effect decay.
EarthQuaker pedals use a standard 9V DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. They recommend pedal-specific, transformer-isolated supplies or isolated multi-output units for the cleanest performance.
From foundational overdrives to experimental reverbs and delays, EarthQuaker Devices pedals are built to inspire. Every one comes with a lifetime warranty and the character that only handmade construction delivers. American Musical Supply offers 0% interest financing and VERY fast and free shipping on every EarthQuaker pedal, so you can add to your board without the wait.
