The Ibanez RG, known by many as the Ibanez Roadstar, is one of the most popular electric guitars ever made. RGs have substantial and lightweight Superstrat-style bodies, comfortable necks, and maintain impeccable balance - these are the ideal vehicles for fast, technical, and commanding performances. What does Ibanez RG stand for? It is widely considered to stand for ‘Roadstar Guitar,’ but these have always been quite a bit different than the other Ibanez instruments from the late 1970s and early 80s that also used the ‘Roadstar’ moniker. Now, it’s pretty much commonplace that people stick to the ‘RG’ name when referring to these post-1987 models.
